  1. Thanks for the good vibes and the advice Andrew and Steve, and apologies for the delay in responding. Steve as requested I have inserted a close up picture of the hovi tip, do you need to see both up close or is the one here ok? As for the sniper plate it does look like I have some work to do as it is riveted and it looks like my placement certainly could be better. Also just to make sure I am reading you correctly is the sniper plate is currently the only hold up for EIB? I hope to work on the centurion suggestions...but I know I am quite slow and would like to prioritize the EIB stuff Thanks again!

  3. Here is the final product that three of us from the GGG got to do for Lucasfilm for Chinese New Year. Can I be the template for the new CRL of Servertrooper? -------------
  4. Good work Ben need that damn thumbs up button on here

  6. Looking good, it looks like you might not need to go the full 6 coats
  7. Yeah don't sweat the brush strokes too much they get less and less noticeable as the coats go on.
  8. Thanks Phil, good to know that they can probably get us to EIB. Hopefully TKboots will be back up and running by the time I am ready for Centurion...From the get go I figured I'd need tw0 pairs of boots and two pairs of gloves so no worries there.
  9. I can't remember how long it took but I went longer than 2 minutes as well. 1st boot certainly took longer since I wasn't quite sure how to go about it either.
  10. Nice Ron, Can't wait to see the progress. Odd that the tape was not sticking. How big were the pieces you were using? I know when I tried to use larger pieces I ran into issues but half inch or so seemed to do fine.
  11. Excellent, loved the Mini Me shot with Big Boba. And how many times was "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" heard?
  12. Considering there really is no way toget TK boots at this current point I would certainly hope there would be some latitude at least on basic approval.
  13. My GML has also given initial approval on these boots for 501st basic. So the EIB and Centurion status still is a question mark.
  14. Thanks for sharing the info Tim, I am going to have to incorporate some of the info there into my regimen. I think I need to change things up a bit to get rid of the last 10 pounds.
  15. No problem Ron. I went straight from bottle to boot with the paint, no dilution at all. My understanding is if you use an airbrush you'll need to dilute the paint but with brushes you are good to go as soon as you get the botte.
  16. Way to go Isaac! Getting into a TM is a great goal to set for yourself. And Christaan nice job maintaining, getting the last 5 to 10 off is a bear. I have been stuck within 10 of my goal for a few months...but happily it is stuck and not backsliding.
  17. Hi Ron, I got the Angelus from Amazon, it was easier than checking the local hobby shops or shoe places as I was able to just order it from work. I did use the same paint on the elastic and the leather it took 6 coats for both, however on the leather I used a pretty light hand and on the elastic you need to go a bit heavier. The first three coats the elastic really soaks up the paint. By the end I still have more than half of a 4oz bottle left For the most part I used a 1/2 inch art brush and used a smaller detail brush for the harder to get areas in the seams. The half inch gave good control and did not take too long to do the whole boot about 20 minutes to complete a full coat on each boot. For the application between layers you could likely go as soon as 20 minutes in between but for me it took about three days, I'd do a coat before heading to work and then another when I got home. With the acetone I applied it directly to a paper towel and then immediately scrubbed the boot. I'd keep up in an area until I stopped getting black on the paper towel. Towards the end I found that a well soaked towel would really strip away fast, I think I was a bit too conservative at the start. I got a quart container and still have plenty left after stripping the pair. Also I do recommend good tape, I used the green frog stuff and it came off like a dream with very few areas I had to carefully razor to make sure it did not pull paint with it. Hope this helps and let me know if there was anything I missed.
