  1. The flight that crashed was in 1999 not the email scam he received.
  2. I'm shocked that people still try, and use that scam. That's so CompuServe. LOL
  3. I think Ill just pic it up if he still has it and strip off the paint and see whats what. Worse case I have an example of what not to buy best case a second M38. The owner says he pulled it off a Sherman that was being dropped as an artificial reef. Although Turrican coulds be right about it being part of an AA Gun since you do not see a lot of gray painted scopes in the Army LOL.
  4. Well I agree that it is a real Sherman scope. The issue is from when? it looks like a M38A2 that is modified. I guess the next question would be has anyone dealt with this kind of mod, and how much of PITA it would be to make original? I am guessing that the person will have sold it by the time I can gather enough info to make an educated purchase, but some one else in the future can benefit from any info gathered here.
  5. A Shot and a beer will dull the pain
  6. I got word today from TKBoots.com that they will be getting boots in about ten days, and at that will start filling the back orders. They also said that they do not have enough coming in on this shipment to fill all the back orders so we will still be waiting for boots
  7. OK I found a scope for sale, and when I asked for pictures this is what I got. Now to me it looks very close. The only thing that truly gives my pause is the front lens shroud looks way too long. Everything else seems to line up. What do you guys think? Legit and just a variation or total BS?
  8. When I get a back up pair of boots I am going to airbrush them. These results you got are simply awesome. Besides I need an excuse to buy an airbrush set!
  9. I was for 4 years. Most of the NCOs were assigned to training bases a few months after our last trip to the sand box. So here I sit. That's why I can go to school full time LOL
  10. I would paint them like you suggested, but my hands are not that steady! I would have to get someone to do it for me. As it stands once they get scuffed up some from trooping it wont be noticeable at all. I will take more care masking my back up pair. I was thinking of a liquid masking tape that I can paint on the soles. It would get a much cleaner edge and no seep through. Something like this stuff http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/div/div3000.htm
  11. 72 Hours later I have peeled off the painters tape and did a small amount of touch up. The masking didn't go as well as I had hoped and the bottom edge is a bit rough, but when you are kicking a rebels teeth in is he going to comment on the poor masking job? I DON'T THINK SO! LOL
  12. I bought these and modified them in fact they should be done tonight. It was pretty easy and didn't even come close the breaking my bank. Make sure to order a size down from your normal shoe size. I am a 9 and ordered a 8.5 and they fit perfectly. 13. I myself purchased an assembled suit. Time is the main reason for this is I am full time Military and a full time Student. That does not leave any real time. My plans are to build everything else though. I have my boots almost completed, and will soon start on my blaster. Once I can actually get out there, and troop, building my second suit can be done as time allows and be that much more satisfying.
  14. Well the blue masking tape I put on in two layers. I masked the sides of the soles first. Then used small pieces for the top edge and pressed it into the crease with a plastic clay sculpting knife and folded it over. It stuck pretty well.
  15. OK got 4 coats of Angelus on the boots. They look pretty good so far. I did hit the fabric with a coat to cover the last of the gray bleed though. After 72 hours of dry time the fabric does not crack so that is a Bonus. I am thinking 2 or 3 more coats on the paint and I'll be Golden!!!! These pics are not best its cloudy today so no natural sunlight booster.
