  1. Has one yet considered to add the Heavy-Weapon-Trooper tactical-vest, the lager F-11D-Rifle of the HWT, the BIG SonnBlas FWMB and the Pauldron to the optional accessoires to the CRL?

That definitely seems like a no-brainer. The F-11D rifle and pauldron are already there. Just need to get a description and some good quality photos of the FMWB-10 Megablaster and the Heavy Gunner vest. Maybe change the language on the rifle description to say "... with extended stock and approximately 11% larger than the standard F-11D blaster" or whatever the size difference is that Germain came up with.

Fortunately, I have all of accessories in question - I'll need to submit some quality photos to whomever updates the CRL. :)

  2. Our garrison CO lives in Woodbridge, and she and her boyfriend (who happens to be the Blizzard Force DL) host armor parties on a frequent basis. :)

Yes, an OT TK would be more realistic in that (1) OT TK armor is far more available than TFA TK armor, and (2) there are options out there that are specifically geared towards larger troopers. Furthermore, it's definitely doable within your budget although the timeline might not be unless you can devote a significant amount of personal time to your build between now and mid-June.

  3. Welcome to the FISD. :)

As you can see by my avatar, I'm also located in NoVA and a member of Garrison Tyranus. I'm in Reston - where specifically are you located? I assumed you've signed up for an account on the GT forum and are simply waiting for it to be approved.

I've got some bad news for you - unless you can somehow buy a complete costume (armor, helmet, boots, blaster, gaskets, neck seal, etc.) prebuilt and that actually fits you, it will be next to impossible to pull together a First Order stormtrooper by mid-June. Getting the complete ensemble for the price range you quoted puts it out of range entirely, and lack of a suitable work space also works against you.

For example, in addition to being an OT TK I'm also a First Order TK. I have the Anovos prototype kit that was sold to select 501st members prior to the premiere of The Force Awakens. All told, I personally put over 150 man-hours into the initial build, not including trimming assistance, the stuff I contracted out (I had my kit professionally painted at an auto body shop), and periodic maintenance/upkeep tasks. While the new Anovos TFA kits are much less expensive and are supposed to be much simpler to assemble, they currently aren't supposed to ship until 3Q17 and we won't really know how much easier they are to assemble until that happens. You may be able to get a fan-made kit faster from one of the two non-Anovos vendors, but it will still take at least a few weeks for them to arrive - and that assumes they have stock on hand.

In addition, TFA kits are made for a mesomorphic build. At your height, you'd need to lose about 80lbs in order for it to fit you properly. Unlike the Imperial stormtrooper kits (of which there are far more choices), the First Order kits are far less forgiving in terms of height/weight and body shape.

I'll be at AwesomeCon in costume on Saturday and I'll most likely wear my First Order kit. I may go Friday in street clothes as well. Feel free to hit me up to chat - or you can message me either here or on the GT forum (I go by the same username).

  4. Can't say that I had any negative experiences. Yes, I heard tons about the ridiculous lines, lack of con-official merchandise, high prices, poor performance by staff from all involved organizations (ReedPOP, Topps, OCCC, etc.) and all of that. But to be honest, I personally didn't experience any of that for the following reasons:

    - I stayed at the Rosen Centre which is accessible to the OCCC by an elevated foot bridge - once I arrived on Tuesday night I parked my car in the hotel parking lot and didn't move it until I went to the beach on Sunday. Everywhere else I needed to go that wasn't within walking distance I used Lyft.

    - I usually waited until free flow admission began (typically after 11am) before trying to get into the con - by then the lines were nonexistent

    - I *always* entered via the Rosen Centre sky bridge - at most the line was only a few minutes long and that included the requisite security checks

    - I wasn't in the hunt for exclusive merch so I didn't bother with the Celebration store and/or trying to be the first one on the main show floor - to be honest, I didn't spend a dime on merchandise of any sort

    - Celebrity photos and paid autographs aren't really my thing

    - This wasn't my first Celebration, so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect in terms of the flow of people and events

    - The only two panels I was actually interested in seeing live (40th Anniversary and The Last Jedi) I was also able to watch streaming in HD from the comfort of my laptop in my hotel room - no lines required!

    - I took advantage of the other activities Central Florida had to offer - specifically Disney World, Kennedy Space Center, and Cocoa Beach

About the only regret I have is that I didn't set aside enough time to just casually stroll the entirety of the main show floor in street clothes, fully taking in all of the displays and browsing the merch vendors. That's something I normally would have done either on the first day of the con or the last day of the con, but for various reasons it simply didn't happen this time around.

Most importantly, I was primarily there to gawk at the costumes, displays, and to see and meet up with my fellow Legion members - many of which I had only previously met via the forums and social media.

In a nutshell, I had the time of my life and I have the photos to prove it. Mission accomplished. :peace:

  5. While I don't read/write/speak fluent Spanish, I'm going to take a crack at this:

El material empleado para los cascos y armaduras es HIPS (Poliestireno de Alto Impacto) de 2 mm de grosor, blanco y negro, con un acabado brillante por lo que no es necesario aplicar pintura.

The material they use is 2mm HIPS. That in and of itself would give me pause. No legit TK armorer has pulled in HIPS since TE2 and the early days of ATA - and they both stopped years ago. They claim that there is no need to paint, but still.

Envio incluido en el precio a España y Portugal, en todos los productos del catalogo.

Price includes shipping to Spain and Portugal, so it appears they are based in Spain. That's not a bad thing, but it will add cost for shipping to, say for instance, North America.

I pulled this photo off of their Facebook page - based on that and the photos on their website, the details are a bit soft and the chest and shoulders scream MTK armor to my eye:

So like was said, while just about any armor can be made approvable if built correctly, I would proceed with caution on this one - at least until we know more about it.

I'm on Tapatalk right now so I can't see your full avatar, but it appears that this is your first post and you haven't indicated where you are located. Perhaps post an introduction in the New Member Introduction section?

  6. The Rogue One beach shoot was amazing! We had 12 TKs and two Death Troopers. Steve Lam (SLam) of course was our official photographer and those photos will be available in a few weeks, but we also had several handlers present with camera phones. Here's a preview shot from one of those:

  7. I'm at SWCO this weekend, so I took a few quick photos of the TFA kit that they had on display. For those of us who wear Imperial Gaskets (latex version) with our kits, the new Anovos gaskets are also made of latex - and they should look quite familiar:

The cost for a kit is $800, a bit less if you don't need the helmet. They aren't doing the preassembled option on these. I didn't ask them about their latest delivery timelines - given their history I didn't see much point in doing so.

  8. For those who carry smartphones, there is now a working SWC Orlando app available for download (I got mine for my iPhone from the App Store). It allows you to pull events from the official show schedule and add them to your personal calendar, along with creating your own custom events - for example, Legion and FISD events. It also allows you to create "to do lists" for all those things that may not be scheduled, but you still want to see that weekend.

It will undoubtedly be handy tool to have for what will be a very busy weekend. :)
