  1. Welcome back. :salute:

Boots - most go with either TKBoots or Imperial Boots since they are purpose-made for us. You also have the option of picking up a set of black Chelsea boots (be sure you get the correct style) and painting them white.

Undersuit - any unmarked black compression suit will do. Underarmor is the standard, but you can likely find cheaper options. Personally I use a black one-piece dancer's unitard, but most prefer a two-piece compression suit because it makes taking restroom breaks a bit easier.

Assuming you are still at Ft Carson, best thing you can do is to hook up with the Mountain Garrison guys.

  2. If there are enough of them in attendance - and there should be since there is an organized group of them nearby in the Georgia Garrison (there was only one present at Celebration Anaheim), we will add them to the list as their own group to the overall FISD Group Photo lineup.

They will of course be welcome to participate in the Ladies of FISD photo as well as the Legacy / E.U. photo.

  3. 3D prints are by their very nature light and very detailed, but they are also relatively fragile. If you drop a fully-assembled 3D printed PLA F-11D blaster it will likely come apart regardless of what type of adhesive you use, and it may break up in places where there is no glue regardless.

I have no idea what a 3D pen is - I've never heard of it.

If you are worried about something that won't survive an impact with a hard surface while remaining intact or something that can be snapped apart with your hands (and I'm not sure why you even want to try doing that), then a 3D print may not be the best option for you.

  4. I've used Zap-A-Gap for all three of my prints - a standard F-11D, a F-11D Heavy, and an SE-44C. It's thin, quick-setting CA glue. The bond is rock-solid and unlike E6000 it is neither messy (assuming you keep proper control and don't apply too much at a time) nor flexible. The downside is you only get one shot to get it right.

  5. Oh what the heck!  the D Ring is directly in the rear?>  So much for the rifle sling option.   Figured for trooping would be nice to sling the rifle and have the Sc-44C holster on the leg.

BTW, you guys have been a Tremendous help!!! thanks So much!!

    Andy

I guess if you reeeealllllyyy wanted to, you could add a D-ring & mount to the bottom of the pistol grip and be able to sling an F-11D rifle version. But there is no way that would be canon and/or CRL-approvable.

  6. ... or added simply because it's necessary in order to advance the story since Rey needs a way to carry the rifle while climbing. Same as how in ANH one of the stormtroopers that was guarding the Millennium Falcon just happened to be the only one equipped with a grappling hook and hand-held comlink - both of which were necessary to facilitate Luke's escape and thus advance the story.

  7. The only time I remember seeing a slung F-11D is the one Rey took during her escape from the interrogation room at Starkiller Base - and that one didn't have a butt stock. Do you have any reference photos?

It's conceivable that a standard F-11D with the sling added could be CRL-approvable. But unless you can provide a reference photo, it's hard to see how the specific F-11D configuration you are wanting to do (sling + butt stock) could be added to the CRL. To be honest, I'm not even sure how that would work - the sling used on Rey's F-11D is attached via a keyhole slot near the forward grip and to the end cap via a D-ring.

  8. Looks great! Then again, I expect no less from RS Props.

How is the movement? When I help with builds, I always do the following mobility checks:

    - Are there any pinch points that may need to be adjusted for?

    - Are you able to put your helmet on and take it off unassisted?

    - Can you drink from a bottle of water without needing help?

    - Can you draw and holster your blaster unassisted?

    - What about stairs - can you climb and descend a flight of stairs without falling over?

  9. The helmet is MRCE/eFx, which is approvable provided you make certain mods. I can't tell from the photos whether or not that has already been done.

As for approval, the short answer is yes. Your kit can be approved to basic acceptance, provided you follow the guidelines in the CRL.

I would also contact your local GML and work hand-in-hand with him/her on your build, since he or she will ultimately be the one to approve it.

  10. Yeah I saw that too, but I couldn't find then anywhere on the Internet... How can I see what they do and contact them? And are they making great quality stuff?

    Thanks

He is here on FISD - his forum name is "ABS80". But the best way to reach him is via email - authenticprops@hotmail.com

Here is one of his recent threads: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/40820-ap-armor-no-helmet-only-499

  11. Seems like it could be done with a "simple" faceplate replacement, no? Not much else seems to have changed. Personally, i like it.

Agreed. Looks to me like they achieved the tapered frown look by making the duck beak gradually wider as it goes out to the edges, i.e. "reverse tapering" it. Ab boxes look a bit thinner as well.

Other than those two changes, I really don't see anything else.

  12. Welcome. Where are you located?

As far as cover strips go, if for some reason the ones that came with the kit are no longer usable, then you'll have to pick up some scrap plastic (for instance a "for sale" sign), paint it to match the color of the kit (there is a seller in the Anovos Stormtrooper Kit Builders' FB group that sells custom paint), and cut new cover strips.

  13. Well good question, I do have both, good and bad points with either or them but it depends on what event I am going to as to which set I wear.

I find the fabric gaskets are a lot cooler and easier to move but they really don't fill the armor gaps as the rubber ones do.

Rubber does fill the armor gaps well but cuts down on your movement and makes you sweat more, they do look so much better though.

The public doesn't notice the difference but I do, so for a cannon or high profile troop I will wear rubber and then the fabric for most other troops.

If you can afford it, I'd suggest both.

I have both as well. This sums up exactly what I would say.

  14. I definitely wouldn't recommend AM for someone your size. Unless you are both short *and* wide (basically built like a barrel), you'll likely end up taking off and/or reshaping so much plastic off that you change the way the armor is meant to fit - and as a result the way it will look. Even if you are almost as wide as you are tall, you'd still need to take a lot of length off, well, just about every piece.

Better off getting a smaller kit that will take a lot less work to fit to you.
