  1. Hey Kenny, I'm Andrew. I no longer sell those kits on ebay.. My wife and I purchased a lot of them and.. well you know the story... but i ran out as i just wanted to unload what we had purchased.. At one point i heard that people were getting the armor and it had some one elses name on it.. so i said.. hey thats not cool and the guy i purchased them from told his shipping company. Well anyway.. there were a BUNCH of these armor kits... and I had purchased most but not all of them... and because they were in a warehouse and get shipped out.. the guy put the sticker on all of them i believe. well I only have one box left and it's in my basement. So PLEASE NOTE: if you purchase any armor that has my name on it.. it is NOT me selling it... please let me know if it does have my name on it... but if it does...it is going to be from the same lotthe same kits that i purchased. so the quality should still be good. but if anyone has questions.. please ask.. and yes.. always be leary of ebay.... I am not a recaster.. nor do i support recasters.... so if anyone gets armor with my name.. please notify me... If the box just says FX-M than that is just the sticker on the boxes...
  2. that is very interesting........ i will look into that... than you for that info....but my stock is almost depleted and so i'm glad to be done with this... I will be working on a memorial patch for my Mandy.
  3. I have an update for everyone.... After meeting with some people and speaking with my garrison... ( remember i'm a noob) i should not even be putting my TK number on the ebay auctions etc. So i will take that off of my auctions as well... more about my armor kits.... When i purchased it... i orderd from a guy named Mr. Nader. What i purchased was stock that was ordered and prepared for a guy named David Ashcroft....I guess this david guy was a big seller in the past and was a bad name? well this David guy ordered these kits and he never paid for them... When i asked mr. Nader about why David Ashcroft's name was on the boxes he explained to me about them being already prepared etc for him... I told him that i didn't think it was appropriate that this persons name was on them as he is not the one selling them... i am... he agreed and is changing it immediately. Yesterday I was pretty discouraged because i felt i was causing harm to a good orginization... and that i was being used as a pawn because I didn't know any better... which the case usually is that nasty people take advantage of good hearted people. But i believe Good and honesty will always prevail....(mandy would have laughed at that statement and remined me that I AM a member of the dark side) I spoke to Mr. Nader and am going to pay to have some of my kits shipped to me at 4 or 5 at a time which would raise the price if i sold those kits... but I think it's a great idea that was brought up by LOCITUS to sell loose pieces or parts. I think there are people that really need parts and i could really help others that way too.... I need some stuff to do to keep my mind and my hands busy anyway..... i just feel really lonely recently and i think it would help.... maybe i'll even build one for fun......... we had our Garrison meeting yesterday and the last half of the meeting i just stood and stared out the window... ( it was at the same place and room where mandy and I first went to a meeting together) it was rough..... Sorry for typing out a DEAR DIARY reply.. i'm sure i'm probably borring everyone.. lol anyway.. to answer some of the questions above and the messages i received about the kits: 1. to keep the cost of the kits low i didn't have them all shipped to me... they are in London with Mr. Nader 2. The kits would take falling and squib effects for a film very well. the armor is thick ABS and with the return edges removed it would allow enough flexing to help with falling so it won't snap or anything it's sturdy.. i can actually sit down when i'm suited up.. which brings me to #3 3. The cod piece and ab piece are cut and then you attach with elastic so you can have better movement and this seam is hidden with the belt. Which brings me to #4 4. the belt that comes with the kit is the plastic one.... still passable but like everyone else.... upgrading to the canvas belt is better.... and you can use the plastic ment for the belt to shim if need be. 5. the kit does not come with the knee piece with the spike on top that TD's use, so converting it to a TD... would be impossible without that piece. A heavy weapons trooper would probably be better idea. if any other questions please feel free to continue to PM me. or just reply.. i'll do my best to reply in a timely fashon.
  4. AHH yes i see.. i agree with you on the short answer long answer.... I will switch that... thank you for pointing that out... I also think the parts idea is good too. I have so many of these kits... i just don't want to be stuck with a bunch of parts... my goal is more to get new people in armor and out there trooping. I know most don't like FX some do... I like FX ...others in my garrison like FX as well... just not the helmet... the helmet is still approvable though... I agree with recaster discussion... its bad... PLEASE UNDERSTAND...our original intention was to buy a bunch of "original" armor kits. and what I THOUGHT i made a deal for WAS original... until i spoke with dale... so my original intentions were not to sell recasts at all..... I hope everyone understand that point. It was to sell assembeled ready to wear original armor. We were going to make a profit on doing the work of assembly... it is fun... the $500 for armor that is already cut out sanded and just ready to be assembeled is good for some that don't have the skills to do this... the fact one thinks it's not good armor is just because they believe FX is terrible... the plastic and the details are excellent of this kit.... but if someone is just going for basic approval and wants to be a part of an orginization... it is a fair price... I paid 450 for each kit. ( remember i thought this was a good deal as i saw kits selling for thousands) I should have educated myself first... but hey... hindsite is always 20/20 right? but to be honest... i would rather pay 500 for a kit that is already pre cut and ready to be assembled than have to cut each part out... my goal right now is to ( and i would like others opinion on this... and will discuss this with my garrison as well) I will design a memorial patch.. this was suggested to me already to raise funds for a headstone / funeral costs... but instead i would rather honor her.... and use the procedes to go into a POT or scholarship where our garrison or perhaps even a group of people ( i don't know who) can decide who deserves to get FREE armor or reduced priced armor.... We... after all.. are troopers helping troopers... why not extend that to troopers helping future troopers as well. I could be way off base in this suggestion or idea but have been given only ( Yes this is a great idea! responses from people)... but to be able to put someone in a free set of starter armor... is what she would have wanted.... yes it is FX... but once the kits are gone... perhaps these funds can to a real armor maker so they can send a deserving person this gift armor. but with my training i received in movie industry FX, model building and prop building... i believe i will sculpt my own set of armor eventually. I really need to try and keep my mind occupied right now.... UPDATE: I changed some details of the description and tried to explain on ebay about recasting a little better and also about FX being not as detailed.. I also explained in detail about how there is no such thing as 501st approved armor... and put a warning about such claims... and explained the process a bit. Pointed people to research on message boards and forums about armor types to get a better understanding..... I also am using the donation feature..... and donating a percentage to the Make-A-Wish foundation. I saw that i could do that and jumped at that chance... and realized that Mandy never really got to make it to a troop completely in armor... Her funeral was almost like her first official troop to raise money for charity. Those that came to her viewing and funeral were given the opportunity to give to her charity of choice.." the Make-A-Wish Foundation... So in a way, i'd like to think..... she had her first charity troop.. we received a lot of cards where people donated.... She would be proud.
  5. i do not want anything to sound fishy... please let me know what sounds fishy to you. ebay IS a bad place to get armor ... but it does not have to be! if people were to be honest and upfront...which is what i am trying to do... FX is FX some like it some hate it... all agree it's not very accurate but it is still acceptable.... AM is made by the same guy that Made FX armor. AM armor is an upgraded Design. but still not as accurate as.... AP or ATA
  6. yes. Locitus. some suggest to make a profit to help pay for her costs or a headstone... i believe Mandy would want others to be able to join. So i'm not assembling them and just getting rid of them... there may be a small padding to cover for costs of shipping etc.. but i'm not making anything now... the comment about putting lipsitck on a pig.... is that in reference to this being FX? as i know alot of people don't like FX or it being recast?.... because just because it's recast does not mean it is poor quality... the quality is very good.... it's not thin, the lines are very sharp and compared next to mandys authentic AM kit it is hardly a difference and no differnce in thickness of material.. except being the return edges like i said before.
  7. it would be easy to make money on this... but that was not what Mandy would have wanted... I want to call this armor FX-M and want to not make money.... yes i could not even afford a headstone for her.... people have donated to help... i want to take those donations and make the armor cheaper.... I want to get people suited up in a quality suit of armor just to troop for a good cause... Mandy believed in the cause... I think it would be great to have a scholarship ( the mandy project ) that when people buy the patch... the funds don't go to me like others suggested... but go towards helping to get into a FX-M kit.. they are good starter kits.... i love it... because she loved it... it was the last armor she helped me suit up in.... the last one she helped me build.... it's priceless to me.... and to me.... the first ever FX-M set of armor. recast yes... but so is ATA.... it's a recast of a recast of an original screen used suit with permission right? well what's the difference... besides that ATA kits are more accurate... if people know upfront... I own an ATA helmet... and my buddy has an ATA set.. the lines on mine are sharper... but again.. it's FX. some like it.... some don't.... i must admit.. i don't like the fx helmet... mandy said she liked the fx helmet... we had an argument on me wanting to buy an ATA to be more accurate... i think she was more concerned about me buying more stuff really. we were in the process of building her a TX i bought from dale... (AM kit ) but ATA helmet. i only wanted the best for her... she was so proud... it was good to see her smile again.... when were at the troops... she would talk about it for weeks afterwards... how many of you were lucky enough to have your wives suit up next to you? we never got the chance..... except for one time at home when she took her application photos for her. her Garrison... her friends... her legion family...... were her pallbearers... she was honored as a trooper... and she will never march alone.
  8. yeah... i agree with you... when i got the kit originally I thought it was an original.... i even had a discussion on here about how.. it HAS to be an original because of how the parts came etc... I was educated... but educated too late... I believe in honesty first... which is why i asked dale permission to sell them off first because i know how bad recasters are... and even purchased a kit from a really bad one... anyway he thanked me because no one ever asks... and he gave his blessing with the request that i do not say that they original FX kits. i'm just selling these for $500 shipping included.. all parts are trimmed and sanded.... comes with all decals... strapping kit... with fees i may make 50 bucks on one but with shipping may loose on another... on ebay i may make more.... i really don't care anymore... I lost my best friend... doing this is just bringing me joy and makes a little bit happy to help keep what she wanted alive and feel close to her... it's not the BEST armor... but it meets standards when assembled correctly and fit to you.... look at my pictures.... she was so proud of me.... when i suited up for the first time.... and it was this kit... so to me... it is the best kit ever made. Ive had people look at the armor... and as for quality... it's the best FX recast I have seen.. there are minor problems which are: 1. it's FX... not as accurate as others 2. it is all pre trimmed and sanded... which means all of the return edges have been removed.... some people like the return edges others cut them off...i prefer off 3. The belt is cut too short on the sides... the round button on each side is cut in half... this is fixed by using one of the buttons that comes with the kit and painting it white and putting it over that part. 4. The belt is plastic... i always tell everyone to upgrade to a fabric belt... i recently did.. and during that process fixed the belt ammo box with the button 5. the buttons that come with the kit are original FX size.. they are too big... ( use to fix the belt) but you may (depending on your GML) have to get new buttons or just paint them the grey and blue. Believe standards are to have just the correct color... I have never once stated that the armor is 501st approved... i explain that there is no such thing as 501st approved anything... and that you must have have your armor fit to you... if you look at my auction on the bay... scroll down.. there is a Q & A section where i state this...
  9. the idea for the project.. is called the Mandy project... some were thinking about a patch that could be sold to create a type of scholarship or some way to get people involved in this organization. Mandy was very troubled... but when she went to a few troops and meetings... she fell in love with everyone... it made her happy and she had a lot of ideas... one of which was.... "the 501st does all this great stuff why don't they just give people armor so they can join" i explained about armor etc though she still thought that people should be able to get armor cheaper.... I want to make that possible now... i even emaild dale to ask about his old bucks etc... but really will just settle for getting people into affordable armor the cheapest way possible... again.. i'm not trying to profit.. i start the auctions at 1 dollar i have been blessed that they reach enough to where there is a profit... and i sell to anyone that wants to join... I call this armor FX-M the M is for mandy... and FX because it's a recast of FX. I would love ideas from anyone... she loved the 501st for the short time she was a part of it... and i have been shown that we are all a true family... i have received so much support and help from you guys... i just can't thank you all enough...
  10. hey guys... my wife and i purchased a bunch of these kits to assemble and resell for a profit... i really like to assemble the kits... I found out later that they were recasts from dale the oriiginal creator of FX armor. I asked him permission to sell off the kits... as is... and am not assembling them. he thanked me for asking him permission... and gave his blessing as he has a new set of armor coming out soon. I have a bunch of these kits.. and am trying to start a project in memory of my wife TK-51110 she always thought people should be able to get into armor cheaper... and i'm not trying to make bucks here... and want to make this possible...we were trying to profit in the beginning but this was early on... by assembling etc.... but i didnt think it was a recast.. but after reading on here about recasts etc...i did find out that they are... they are good quality... and in my auctions and to others am very upfront about explaining that they are recasts. we invested quite a bit on these..... and they ARE 501st quality.... i am approved with this kit.... so are others... it's a hard time for me right now... but i must say i have never been a part of a real family such as the 501st. Sorry for the confusion...
  11. yeah i agree... No i haven't seen the threads on recast armor.. well a few. I have two sets of armor and am currently waiting on a third ATA black set of shadow trooper armor. I can definetly see differences in what i put together from this guy and my other set... shoot me a link on some of these threads.. i'd love to take a look
  12. That is exactly my point. if it was a recast than the vocoder and ear bar pieces would all be one piece. I do believe that his old armor may have been a recast however the new one isn't or at least what i put together was not... was just too detailed.
  13. I purchased my armor from this guy. Saw another one that had it. It's great. take a look at my avatar.. that is his armor. Sefni.Int The main problem with him is that the pictures he uses on ebay actually suck. the helmet does not even look like that.. it looks like my pic. The detail is amazing.. the helmet kit comes with ALL pieces seperate... the Vocoder is actually a seperate sculpted piece so are the Ear pieces.. the detail is amazing. -by ear pieces i mean the ribbed parts that are grey. all seperate pieces.. so this is not a recast... perhaps his old stuff was.. but it definetly is not now.
  14. i purchased this armor.. yeah it's really thin. I fixed the problem by spraying truck bedliner on the inside. it thickens up real nice. DO NOT USE FIBERGLASS. The heat from a hot glue gun is enough to make this stuff warp. Imagine what fiberglass would do. it's wearable... but is now pretty beat up ( 3 years later ) i'm currently turning it into a Sandy. I bought a new armor set that is actually made from ABS
