  1. Do the 5V blower fans use up less battery life than the 12V fans do? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but just want to know before I start ordering a whole bunch of fans I might never use again. I just received 2 12V fans (50x40x10mm) in the mail today and one works well, the other somewhat of a dud. Would using the 5V instead draw less battery power? The specs according the seller say both the 12V & 5V put out the same Airflow of 6 CFMs. Sounds like 5Vs is adequate but I would like to know if someone has tested both and which one is the best choice. Already stuck with the 12V but one needs replacing. Any expert advice in this area is greatly appreciated!
  2. Thanks for the info everyone. I will try to solder the connections together after a few practice runs. How is the airflow coming out of these 5V fans? I tested one 12 V fan using the same 4 AA pack but the airflow was a bit weak.
  3. Thanks for posting this. These are just the fans I have been looking for! Best of luck with your helmet fan installation when you get your gear. Certainly update when you can. I am also in the waiting period and hope to put together a cooling fan setup. How did you connect the switches to the wires? Soldering? I am looking for a simple clip and connect method to the wiring so parts can be changed out if needed. I found a small set of wire connectors in the car audio section at a shop by me. Crimping or soldering, anyone know which method is best?
  4. This is the dual microphone amp kit I saw. It has a volume control knob, ear phone jack, and two condensor mics. Seems it would have to be built since it is listed as a kit.
  5. The amp circuit boards used in the you tube video look different from the ones used in the updated picture of the whole setup. Did you customize the board from the original board? Is it possible to use one amp circuit board that has two microphone ports? I saw a circut board with two condesor mic ports and want to know if that is a possibility instead of the two board setup. Sorry, I have little knowledge of electronics but thought there might be a way to eliminate one board if possible. Wish I had skills like that.
  6. Just got my full E-11 resin kit in the mail. Placed the order on October 27th, received a 'dispatched' e-mail on Nov. 3rd and arrived on Nov. 11th. Shipped form the UK to Japan. I did have trouble contacting them about a separate inquiry and have yet to hear back from them. The kit arrived well packed, no damage. Very happy to get it but more worried how bad I might ruin such a nice kit. Hope my news is somewhat assuring for anyone still waiting on their kits to arrive.
  7. Thanks guys for all the input. I think I will try the build but will probably buy a fully assembled suit too at some point. Rolf sent some great pics of the strappings for the torso area. If anyone else knows another good gallery of pics to refer to for all the other armor assembly joints and straps, please send me the link! It would be great if there was a full step by step assembly posted in depth but I guess that takes a lot of the fun out of it. Cheers!
  8. Thanks for the info. Need to sleep on all this. Can't believe how useful this site is! Really appreciate all the help.
  9. I will take your advice about the glue. A few concerns I have about the build would be the exact amount to trim off the parts, the strapping placements as well as the buttons, etc. I looked at a few builds and stills from the movies but not 100% sure if I can do a decent job. If I do go the self built route, I will probably take even longer to get it done. Still that sounds better than the wait you mentioned for a built suit, at least I will be able to set a pace. RS mentioned to me initially about a rough kit and a pre-trimmed kit/ painted details. How far is the jump from those two kits and then the overall pre-assemble? The builds I see on this site are the rough kits I assume.
  10. Thanks so much for the advice. I am exactly those measurements so I figured I have less of a gamble but there is never a sure thing. Still some time to think it over but I am leaning toward giving it a try myself and build it. Thanks again for both of your replies. I guess I need to do more homework and then decide. Cheers!
  11. I am looking to buy a full armor kit from RS but not sure which route to go. This will be my first suit and not sure if I should assemble it myself or have them do it. The cost is certainly a factor but I am also interested to know if there is a down side to having one already assembled. On the other hand I am a bit worried if I screw up the build myself. Does anyone know if these kits come with some sort of instructions from RS? I have already mailed them but guess they are quite busy and have yet to reply. Any advice regarding purchasing / assembly of an RS kit is greatly appreciated!
