I am heavily into role-playing games, miniatures games, reading and cosplay. I have done Renaissance Faires since the 90's, but wanted to be a stormtrooper ever since I heard about the 501st. It became a dream of mine since 2003. I finally made that dream a reality in 2013!!

  1. I wear glasses and I do have a little bit of an issue fitting the bucket on with all of the electronics, then I bought a pair of kid glasses and a glasses strap to make sure they are secured. That works great, but I look a little goofier than usual with the bucket off.
  2. I would like to request access to the 501st portion of the site! Here the link to my profile, bot 501st and Garrison! http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=15565 http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=15565&costumeID=124
  3. If you boil them, watch them very carefully. I ruined my biceps trying to reshape them. On the plus side, my replacements came in the mail today and I will hopefully be done with my build by the end of the month!
  4. Got in touch with the gentleman from ATA and he'll do a replacement set for $50.00. And they look better than the ones I had, so maybe this is a good thing! I go back to work Monday, so I will be ordering them soon I hope! Thanks everyone for the advice and help (and sympathy! ha ha).
  5. Excellent! You wouldn't happen to have his email address, would you?
  6. I may give that a try. A little frustrated to go work on it right now I was so happy with my test fit, I was just sizing up and measuring straps. Got them all done today and was getting ready to put together the whole upper part when I said to myself, "I think I will reshape the biceps a little bit for a better fit!". I reshaped them all right! Guess I will work on the legs for a bit, I guess, when I get up get the nerve
  7. I know. This is the recast from <gasp> Trekfreek. I figured ANY would be better than what I have. Particularly after what I have done to them.
  8. So I was trying to round them a little bit. I don't have a heat gun, but I read you can soften up the plastic by putting it in boiling water for 10 minutes, then shape it. I have actually done this successfully on a few parts already, such as rounding out shims, etc. Yeah. Not this time. Lesson learned.
  9. Here is a pic of the armor, which I am pretty sure is an FX recast. I will upload a pic of my ruined biceps in a sec. No, they are not salvageable, however, I will post so you can have a good chuckle at the noob's rookie mistake! Ha Ha! Or at least so no one else makes the same mistake.
  10. Unfortunately I got it off Ebay.....before I knew better....So I guess anything I can replace on it would improve it greatly I am still pretty happy with it, except, of course, the biceps...
  11. Greetings! I am hoping someone can help me with some info. I was starting to make some headway on my build when I totally destroyed my biceps. I was wondering who I would need to contact to get a replacement set and how much they would be. Not ready to purchase right now, unfortunately, but just wanting to know how much I need to save up! I looked on Ebay and all I saw where a set by makerofthings, which I hear is garbage and some that is selling for 48.00 a piece plus shipping meaning it would cost just over $250.00 for the complete set, which sounds a little too pricey. Any information would be appreciated!
  12. Well, I definitely won't qualify for Centurion when I get my build completed, but am hoping for EIB. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
  13. Sometime in the near future, I am planning on ordering some boots from TKBoots. I do have a question though. One of my legs is slightly shorter than the other due to a childhood hip disease and I currently have my soles built up by a local shoe repair shop. Is it legal to have this done with stormtrooper boots? Technically it isn't "screen accurate", but it isn't overly noticeable. Just wanted to find out before I spend the money. Thanks!
  14. Saw this which might be helpful... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19524&hl=efx&fromsearch=1 I am a newbie myself! Pleased to meet you!
