So after intermittantly browsing this site for a couple years and wanting Stormtrooper armor as long as I can remember I finally decided to sign up and start getting a little more serious about acquiring the pieces I need to build it. Countless times I've had to stop myself from taking the easy way out and clicking "buy it now" on one of the many costumes sold on ebay. I'm what most sites I've seen refer to as "average Stormtrooper build" at 5'10 and 170 so finding armor to fit shouldn't be a problem.
I live in the Kansas City area so I will be signing up over at the 70th Explorers site as well. I'm currently in Afghantooine on what is basically dial-up speed internet so my armor research isn't going very quickly. Any good sites, tips, or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
I've also always wanted to build a Sterling and with my want for an accurate looking E-11 blaster I may decide to kill 2 birds with one stone, although I'm not sure it's worth paying Uncle Sugar the $200 sin tax to make it right. I've built plenty of firearms, that's the easy part, making it screen accurate is what I'll likely have troubles with, but I've found many great resources online to help with that. Looking at ordering a Doopydoo's in short term and always keeping my eye out for a steal on a Sterling parts kit.
I also have some ideas on making my helmet a little more comfortable with some old flight helmet parts I have laying around. Looking forward to tackling that project when the time comes.
