Also not getting any of the emails. No biggie, but the issue for me did start about the same time everyone else's seemed to stop.

Congrats! I'm hoping to be just a few days behind you.

I just might have to repurpose some of the PVC scrap laying around in my garage. Thanks for the tip.

I think I'll be good to go straight for EIB as soon as I'm approved by my GML. I'll just need to take some better pictures.
Should be any day now I'm hoping.

If you're just wanting something to throw up on the shelf and display, maybe occasionally wearing it to show your friends than I see no problem with either the MR or eFX. I actually prefer the symmetrical, idealized look of them and think they feel much more like an actual helmet and not a cheap prop...
...but, they aren't easily moddable to be 501st approvable, and anyone who knows what they are looking at will likely call you out and thumb thier nose at you. Pick up one from any of the vetted makers listed in the thread posted by Minuteman if you are wanting a wearable, easily approvable, screen accurate Helmet.

It came with the Helmet. I bought it from ARAKYEL on the SpecOps Board. He sells the liner separately if you need. Here is the Thread :

How do you like it? I've got a rather large head and am just not having much luck coming up with padding that is comfortable and keeps it straight on my head.
After looking at that thread... I might just have to order a whole helmet from him as well. Thanks.

I was going to say, I put them low in the bottom area pointing up, similar to this, in my ATA, and, while it takes a teensie bit of work, I get it on with fairly easily...------------
What did you use for padding in that? It looks vaguely familiar but I just can't place it. I've tried everything from flight helmet liners to foam, to ACH padding and just haven't been able to find something I'm completely happy with.

The 1/8" flat bar seems way too thick to me. The ones I got from TK-Leper appear to be .060"(1.5mm), and if I was going to make them myself, that's what I would use.

I only received part of an order and after 3 or 4 times emailing them and not getting an answer I was forced to start a paypal claim. They answered that within a couple hours and eventually shipped out the missing items.

Thanks everyone.
Looks good so far! What armor kit is this? Mine is coming this week. You give me hope
It's an ATA Abs kit.

That's awesome.
...but I'm betting in 5 years you'll look back and shake your head at yourself. Hey Macerana. Ay!

Looks like you need a crotch strap.
And try to raise those drop boxes so that they are flush with the bottom of the belt. Tighten the straps between kidney and back as well.
But overall not that bad if this is your first time wearing it. The more you wear it the more you notice what can be improved upon, both in function and comfort.
My attachment method on the boxes needs to be improved anyway, so I'll make sure to move them up when I do it. They had just fallen off before I took the pictures and I stuck them back on a little hastily.
Shortening up the straps between the kidney and back should be a quick fix.
I'll make sure to get my crotch strap on.
Thanks for the input.

This is the first time I've worn my complete armor. Let me have it and tell me anything I should fix before I submit to my GML.
I know my sniper plate tucked under the thigh(my photographer didn't know it wasn't supposed to do that), my right bicep rotated and you probably can't tell in the pictures but I forgot to put my neckseal on first so it might be sticking out in a few spots.
...and looking at the pictures I realized I forgot to strap up my crotch. That didn't sound right.

I play on PC. MisterFubar.
...but I haven't played in a few weeks. Might fire it up tonight after the girls are in bed.

Everytime I try my armor on I have an overwhelming urge to to make sweet appliance love to my washing machine. Glad to see that's normal.

This time last year I was sitting in Afghanistan and got bit by the white armor bug.
Good luck, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

That's awesome.

Looking good, Nathan. Looking forward to getting a chance to meet you and take a look at your armor work. I'll have my stuff as well if there is anything you want to look at.
Looking forward to it. We don't have much planned this weekend so I'm up for anytime, anywhere, we can work around your schedule.
I'm getting real close. Worked on my Shoulder/Bicep/forearm strapping tonight, just need to cut and connect to at the top. Only major thing left is the belt and I just might start on it tomorrow.

To be honest ...
Looking good for hand painted
What is your painted button diameter?
By complete accident they all ended up at about 7/16" I think I remember reading somewhere that is the correct diameter.

I'm getting close...

The strapping is complete on the torso, but everything else was just hanging in place and the I didn't even close the shins.(I'm sure that's obvious) but I coudn't resist trying it on.

Looks like Rovio will be getting another 99 cents from me.

I think most snaps are lacquered or plated and shouldn't cause any issues. I used E6000 on my snaps plates with Tandy snaps and saw no ill effects or heat where it came in contact with the snaps.

According to the MSDS that brush cleaner you linked to contains Ethanol. I don't know what your helmet is made out of but I do know that ethanol can be rather nasty on some types of plastics. I'm not smart enough to remember which types and a quick google search didn't turn up much good info.
Good luck.
Anybody having issues buying from Trooperbay?

I've had issues with items not staying in my cart in the past. Always tried an hour or two later and it seemed to work.
For what it's worth, I just tried and nothing will stay in my cart right now either.
