If you are in a pinch, I think the plastic For Sale signs you find at WalMart are made of styrene. Not sure how big of a piece you need.

I was of the assumption that all ESB helmets had the green lenses as well

This helps my ESB a lot. Now anyone know what to do about my ANH?

I looked at your helmets and your eye sockets ARE more shallow than any I have seen. they would work great to create that effect, i just can't afford one.

Funny you mention that, because I was flipping thru my old Star Wars novel the other day and in the novelization it was THX-1183 and not TK-421!

AGH! I don't want idealized, I want that LOOK! Looks like my 3rd helmet will be a TM!

That's what I am thinking. On my ATA, I need to cut even more shallow and uneven. The CAP-W will have to be ESB and the ATA will hopefully be a nice vintage looking ANH.

For example http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-ANH-Stunt-Stormtrooper-armor-helmets.htm The move along helmet looks as though it has a "lip" around the eye that is left after cutting. I am not seeing where that is on my CAP-W or my ATA, unless I cut it all the way at the back of the eye, which I think would be too far inset. Is it possible the bucks used back then had more shallow eye wells?

Trust me, I have known about that site long before this one. One of my favorites! I have looked at LOTS of pics. But obviously on my first helmet, it didn't happen they way I thought. I want mine to look more like AJCG's ANH helmet or SW1 GINO HDPE helmet.

Anyone? C'mon all you troopers, help a brother out! Is it just an issue of cutting them further back from the molded cut line?

I use Krylon Ivory on my hockey masks as a base coat and would NOT recommend it for Trooper helmets. It is too cream colored.

Very true! I have only been back at this hobby for a couple months and it didn't take me long to learn who he was and the crap he has pulled. And as far as an AA vs GINO vs TE match, I vote for no time limit, steel cage! Gino was one of the first people I ever met in this costuming hobby and he rubbed me the wrong way even back then!

OK, I am working on a CAP-W helmet right now and I so badly wanted that droopy eye ANH look, but obviously it didn't come out that way. I think I can trim them a bit more and make it an ESB helmet. What I wanted to know is does anyone have any tips or tricks for cutting the eyes of a TK helmet a certain way to get the wonky look? I see the trim lines and I cut behind them, but I am guessing there is something more I should be leaving when I didn't... Conversely, I know that ESB eyes are cut wider, but I am sure there is a point at which you stop cutting. Any tips?? I know it is probably not as hard as I making it, but the helmet kits I used to get already had eyes pre-trimmed so this is still a bit new to me! THANKS!!

After looking at this for a while, I think I may go ahead and cut the eyes a little bigger and have this one be my ESB helmet. I have an ATA kit on it's way and I will try to make that one a nice ANH helmet!

Are the eyes the right size for ANH? I was worried I cut them too big.

OK, after jumping the gun a bit, NOW I can call this a WIP thread. Because I have actually done some work on it now! QUESTION ESB or ANH? I am trying to decide which way this one is going! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
