1. I think I'm done for now. Images updated with Clint's most recent versions. Some text edited per Krista's input as well as Drew the SoCal GML.

    For now I left the blaster wording totally bland for now. I'll add images soon for the blasters and expand the wording per Germain and Zedebee's awesomeness. I am still on the fence about the pistol until better reference material emerges.

    Das LMOmeister has been notified that I'm done dicking with it. He can edit and make it go green as he sees fit.

  2. by putting these at L2, what requirements will be left for L3? I had hoped that we would have things be a bit more in line with the OT EIB and Centurion requirements for weapons (and costume). Having operational Tac light (or other lights) will rule out a lot of folks that would otherwise be able to achieve L2/EIB. I would rather have L2 include having the appearance of the Tac Light and have L3 operational or something like that.

    If we push to have every detail at the lower levels of the CRL, then there is no need for writing L2 or L3 requirements for this kit - and then it becomes screen replication vs levels of accuracy.

    ^This. The wanna-be canadian speaks truth.

    I doubt we're going to get to L2 until after the movie comes out FYI. Maybe not even until the bluray comes out :) I would even push for just an L2 not L3 depending since most costumes will be fairly accurate right out of the gate.

    Let's focus on getting people approved (that is when the CRL goes green today or tomorrow and not before!) right now.

    Prototype wording for the blaster;

    E-11 Blaster (First Order)

    For 501st approval:

    • Based on a replica Sterling sub-machine gun, scratch-built, 3D-printed or a modified commercial toy Stormtrooper blaster.
    • The magazine and housing are located on the right-hand side of the blaster (opposite to the original Sterling SMG), allowing the blaster to be mounted to the right-thigh of the leg armour.
    • The blaster is black, with the following details white in colour; front muzzle ring, outermost magazine side, pistol grip, folding stock and end cap.
    • The following details are silver in colour; telescopic sights centre bracket and end rings.

    Pistol (First Order)

    For 501st approval:

    • Based on a real or replica Glock 19 repeating pistol, scratch-built, 3D-printed or a modified commercial Stormtrooper toy.
    • The pistol can be be mounted to the right-thigh of the leg armour.
    • The pistol is black, with a white covering to the pistol grip and barrel.

    what do you guys think?

    I heart this. Thank you.

    I'll be adding blaster stuff today, I was going to just say "Use a toy blaster and paint it kinda like the photo provided" to start but you've given me way better words.

    Additionally I will be adding the blaster and blaster rifle(phasma style) today, but maybe not the pistol.

    I also wanted to call it the 7-11 but I have been shot down by... everyone. People are also calling it the E-12 but it will be listed as "First Order Stormtrooper Blaster" in the CRL.

  3. With the works of the CRL being finalized, does that mean the New TFA can be approved before the movie premier???

    My goal is that GMLs can start approving next week :)

    We will likely update the photos as we go as more get approved. For now we just need enough to get people approved in general.

    Todo list before the LMO turns it green:

    * Thermal det photos uploaded

    * Boot wording cleaned up and photo uploaded

    * Some mention of undersuit somewhere

    * Whip up blaster wording and upload photos.

  4. I wonder about this. Why make the undersuit a part of the L2 and L3 awards if the undersuit isn't even seen?

    With the TK the gaps you could see this suit. The EP7 trooper has gaskets and is fully sealed, I think the only place you see a suit is at the neck?

    You can see it above the thighs so there has to be one. It's minimal though.

    ^This

    I may make a special section just for the gap above the thighs. Take a look at the model in the CRL as it is a very high res photo if you click on it a couple times: http://www.501st.com/databank/TK_-_First_Order

    Understood. :)

    I also noticed a few things...(Maybe worth looking at?)

    Hand plates: Should we mention the small rectangular decal/box detail on the front? You can see them in the pic but it doesn't mention them in the text?

    Forearms: Should we have a pic of the wrist area/opening? The current pics do not show the black decal/rectangular box on the wrist detail. Text should mention this, as well as the long decals above the rail, and the 2 oblique recessed areas on the back?

    Neckseal: I assume the neckseal should be made of shiny material as well, to better match the gaskets? (Or does it matter, as you really can't see it anyway?)

    Good stuff! I'll add the text for the handplate black details and on the forearm boxes but the photos will have to follow given our short timeline this week to go green with the CRL.

    The neck seal maybe shiny for L2 but it doesn't matter much.

    Thanks!

  5. Do we think it's important for the holster to have it's own section in the CRL? At minimum, it might be a good idea to have close up pictures of the holster, showing the details/hardware?

    Yes and no. For now we need people approved. But when we go to EIB we should provide the holster details for sure.

    So yes. But in time.

    I think I have some good photos of a properly made holster with the right McMaster hardware in my collection. I'll see about whipping it up shortly after the CRL goes green.

  6. LOL No one noticed I forgot to put an entry for knee plates in the CRL:

    Images are slowly going up as I have a free moment.

    My goal, once the LMO blesses it, is for the CRL to be basically done before the end of this week.

    I think the wording still needs some studying. Feel free to give it a read and let me know what you think.

    The boots section needs some love for sure. Not sure what else.

  7. I think the variations with just the pauldron or tak vest will just that, optional accessories. No need for a different crl.

I hope the NO TKs stay on FISD, they are stormtroopers after all.

    A little selfishly I do too. But I think FISD should be the place because I think we're best equipped to be caretakers of build threads and the CRLs... but I am open to a new detachment indeed.

    Todd: I'm sorry if I made it seem like I'm crapping on spec ops. I hope you know I love you guys.

  8. While I don't agree about the bubble lenses I yield to popular common sense. Here is the wording as of now:

    • Lenses are smoky brown or gray in color. They may be bubble in shape or flat and must be sufficiently dark enough to obscure the costumer's eyes.

    More images have been added to the CRL:

    http://www.501st.com/databank/TK_-_First_Order

    Larger and more detailed versions will be uploaded over time.

    -Eric

  9. Hmmm spec ops as far as I know are purely EU (legacy may I dare call it now) TKs. I will vie for them all to be in FISD to start and let the debate about having their own detachment ensue. (Clint Randall for First Order DL!)

    I think the snowy discussions are already happening on blizzard force.

    If someone makes a good looking pauldron I would prefer I keep it under the existing TFA TK CRL as an optional accessory.... Like the TDs do.

    Flame thrower? FISD to start. Someone needs to make the costume first.

    Phasma will be its own costume. Who will be the first to take an anovos kit and rattle can it silver?

    Just a few thoughts.

  10. * There is a formatting error on the Thermal Detonator - shows {{{3}}}

    * Forearms - what is a picatinny?

    Otherwise, the only thing missing is pictures. I'm sure once we have a dozen or so applicants, we'll see what is missing & needs to be clarified. Can't wait to get mine submitted next month.

    Yep. Photos will be added slowly over the next few days.

    And oops on the formatting. I'll fix my fat finger tonight.

    Yeah. Picatinny. Maybe we need a better way to describe that rail? Lemme think about that. Maybe more of a "look at the photo" type descriptor.
