  1. Here is the helmet so far, before I go on to the interior I need to order mic tips w/speakers in them as I want to have sound in the helmet... Well on to cutting and sanding the rest...going well so far TMC
  2. OK on to the details...Question on the brow piece, the on in the kit is a soft black foam strip that sticks to the helmet. Is this screen accurate or should I change it? How high should it be? The instructions say to have it cover the split between the front and back..is this OK? Thanks, TMC
  3. OK was ready to go and buy an assembled helmet but then it started to come together... And next to my Rubies...What a difference!!
  4. Just found them....Just what I was looking for!!! Thanks So Much, TMC
  5. Cutting, sanding and gluing plastic is not to hard for me...with all the mods to the rubies suit I just about built from it from a kit....besides the eyes are already cut out..
  6. Not the best pic but here it is....sorry I cant seem to make it any larger TMC
  7. I did go through it...great thread TMC
  8. Well it here!! the big brown box of white plastic!?!? This will be my first build but I do have a lot of experience with white plastic as I have many (80 or more) hours into re-building a rubies kit. Also many years with plastic models and R/C so building and painting should go well. I would like to start at the top (lid) but do have questions about the helmet...The mic tips are faucet aerates...is this normal? Should I change them? The helmet is a front, back and top and some of the accents don't seem to be accurate but I should be able to work around them. The frown has decals for it...I should cut it out and paint...Right? Thinking an ANH build for this one but would like to use the lid with the rubies (the armor will pass the test but not the lid) and wanted to keep both...Yes?..No? If anyone has done this kit please speak up as I can really use the help...oh btw it is from Troopersupplies.com TMC
  9. CA or Super Glue debonder WILL MELT PLASTIC do not use it, I sell it at the hobby shop. TMC
  10. DO NOT USE nail polish remover or CA remover....it WILL MELT the plastic. I know this from the hobby shop as I have seen what it can do to plastic. TMC
  11. Mix the epoxy per instructions then add the paint till you get the proper color...about 10 to 1 epoxy to paint. I used a paint brush to apply it to the buttons...it seems to smooth out after you brush it on. TMC
  12. Worth a try...you can always call me at my Hobby Shop and I can tell you how.....WWW. performance-hobbies.com for the # TMC
  13. I have been using this in the R/C realm for years and found it worked well for small areas...The Buttons. TMC
  14. FYI You can mix Tamiya acrylic paint to 5 or 30 min Epoxy and it will dry to a very hard gloss finish...IE I used this combo on my buttons on my trooper armor for a great scratch free finish. TMC
  15. Question.....is E6000 the same as "Goop" or "shoe-Goo" They are made by the same Mfg in the same tube... Any Thoughts? TMC
  16. Yes that may be true but reading all the info about the rubies I will at least need a new helmet plus the mods to make it right. Starting from scratch would not be that much more...I think? and i did enjoy "working" the rubies into what it is. TM armor a good start? Is it still ava? TMC
  17. No Dont want to sell it I have way to much time into it.....it was a great learning experience. I would like to start from scratch but just trying to find,I think, the FX or something like it. TMC
  18. I don't know much about the "details" everyone talks about as I am VERY new to all this and learning alot from this site. I can tell you I did buy a Rubies almost 2 years ago....$750 or so is to much to pay (mine was $550) I do have mine fitting well, with a complete rebuild and many hours with a Dremel tool, but I would much rather put my time into a 501st acceptable set (which I will soon) but in the meantime I have a very cool Trooper "lookalike" TMC
