Joe if im in cornwall when you get the ukg down then let me know where and ill help with anything i can mate.

I see what you mean about the similarity but.... if you do some checking on that oil filter you will find out that its only slightly bigger than a large car oil filter and quite a bit smaller than the "screen used item" nice find tho.
look at the pic showing the tank with the oil filter on the bottom and you can see its only hand sized, the other filter (fuel??) is only slightly bigger than this.

Trying to get my grubby paws on a V8 filter to see if i can cut it like this.......
-
I have just showed the screen cap to a friend who owns an old rover v8 sd1 and he says that it looks like the original filter to him too but he said
"it looks like they cut the top edge in about 10/15mm at an angle for some reason?"
maybe to disguise it a little or it could just be from something else that looks very close to it ?
-
Juan i can see what you mean but if you look at the link i posted above and click on the pic to enlarge you can just make out the top (rubber) of the item and it does taper slightly inwards, looks very close to an original rover v8 filter which would have been readily available at the time of filming and of course its a uk made part so easy for them to get their hands on in any number they needed.

I will volunteer my helmet (but not sure of its origins, it came via a friend of a friend for a stupidly low price so i didnt ask) which is now just waiting on lenses from smitty to arrive, hovis and decals i can send a pic if you like of it's progress so far but i think its looking great so far, and may be a good test to see if your decals fit others too.

The more i look at this the more i think it looks like the rover airfilter.. has anyone ever worked on an early Rover SD1 v8? i beleive this maybe the source for the part and having just looked through ANH there is definately the corrugated look to it with a rubber looking top and bottom, and having worked on these engines myself i would say its about the right size for the scrren used item and if its not its very very close.
Check this link and look at the trooper on the right you can see where im coming from then.. click here

heres the airfilter i was talking about...
Its used in a british engine that wouldve been around quite a bit when the film was made (Rover cars, Landrovers & rangerovers had v8's) so its possibly the one they used.
-
silly question ... has the top left item been identified, the thing that looks like a filter ?? i ask because it looks like the air filter element from an old rover 3.5 v8.

I am putting my first helmet together now too and i have found star wars helmets invaluable for refering back to whenever i got stuck, im building a stunt using the Dave M helmet for inspiration.

Ha ha ha love it well done that man.

My personal dislike of all things apple would never stop me reccomending one to someone if it suited what they they needed but i also tell anyone who asks that most of the time you can build a pc for less with better specs... that you can repair yourself without a mortgage, oh and there is worse than mac's out there .... The ever evil DELL theese things seem to be trying to copy macs recently as dell are now having parts made specifically for their own use therefore if it breaks you have to buy from them at great expence grrrrrr
i agree about windows 7 its terrible, ill stick to vista it might have had some reported problems but ive had none in the time ive used it (pretty much from the word go)
-
Be aware there are sad little ermmm people who do write virus programmes solely for mac's, I had to sort an i mac recently that had one but thankfully they are rare as most are intended for p.c's.
Personally wouldent touch a mac with a large stick (most likely my hatred comes from having to connect 2 of them to a windows server grrrrrrrrr what a pain in the behind)but they are great machines when they work... and if one fails on you then you have my condolences, good luck.

This is my E11 Scratchbuild, it started out as im sure most others have with plans downloaded and the intention to get a few resin parts ........this is where it went wrong , i started looking at various things around the house and thought hmmmmm i could use that and next thing i have an E11 not accurate by any means but it has all the "right parts" inc a folding stock and im quite pleased with it and the cost of the total build.... £12 including paint, glue and the LED's etc for the stand.

I also reported him and wrote to AA who also mailed back to say thanks and if i see it happen again if i could be good enough to let him know that should get it shut down straight away then he he
-
Looks to me like TK1536 or 1538 found it its 1336 http://tk1336.com/... just a thought here has anyone told AA about this ??? i know hes not highly thought of but he may be able to put a stop to this as its his property/name being used
Ive just looked at the above website and that same picture is there but on the site its edited so either its the same person (site looks like a U.S 501st member while listing is in the U.K) or the person listing on evilbay has at some point had a copy of the true TK1336's pictures unedited.

We have a TOMTOM with both vader and yoda installed and i have to say the yoda is one of the easiest to follow i dont know why maybe its because you get "turn left in 200 yards you will" instead of "turn left in 200 yards"... which by that time you are past it. there are loads of voice packs for them and with the tomtom they can mostly be downloaded from the official website.

OK ive made a few changes to this...
it now has a red LED in the front of the scope and a scratchbuilt hengstler to hold the batteries and on/off switch (the switch is the counter reset button) and the "targeting sensors" which are again scratchbuilt from bits of scrap i had lying around from the main blaster build, i have also changed the folding stock pivot and the back cap to an all alloy one as the plastic one it had just didnt look "meaty enough" well i didnt like it anyway.
