  1. Were you looking for the liner on it's own, or the entire helmet? I had to get the whole helmet, and then pull the liner out. I got mine at Sports Authority in Denver-- and I believe they sell them nationally online. Here's some sources: http://www.amazon.com/Wilson-Adjustable-Me...4391&sr=8-2 -- $29.99 http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/ind...rentPage=search -- $19.99 And I just found one on eBay with a BIN price of 9 bucks! Just do a search for "Wilson Batting Helmet" and look for the adjustable youth size. Hope that helps!
  2. Hmmm.... after trying this little experiment, it definitely looks like it will add a nice protective layer to the plastic, however it leaves a dappled texture that I'm not digging so much. I don't think I'm gonna' do it. Has anyone else had different results? Maybe I just suck at spraypainting.
  3. COAT. I mean Crystal COAT. Oops! I was kicking around the idea of spraying my helmet, and later my armor, with Krylon's UV-Protective Crystal Clear Coat. I'm thinking this might be a way to keep the ABS from yellowing, and protecting it a bit from nicks and scratches. Has anyone done this to their armor? Over time, will it do anything to mess up the esthetics? I can't imagine it would do anything except help protect the ABS, but wanted to ask if anyone has done this, and could share some knowledge with us. I'm off to try it out on a piece of test plastic. I'll let ya' know how it turns out, short-term. Thanks! -- While I was writing this, I just remembered the old SNL skit for "Crystal Gravy" that parodied Crystal Pepsi. Both are equally disgusting ideas. Anyone else remember that stuff?
  4. Hey Paul-- I found the exact same liner at a Sporting goods store here in Colorado. You're looking for a Wilson Youth-Size batting helmet. After searching around online for bit before heading out, it seems like they're readily available, at least in the states. If you have trouble finding one in the UK, just shoot me a PM. I'd be happy to run to the store for you and ship it over. Just lemme know.
  5. Curtis -- the kit looks AWESOME!! You and BigTurc have been invaluable resources for me while I've been putting together my AP helmet! I've been assembling my helmet in front of my computer, with your photos on one of my monitors, and Al's on the other. Thanks so much for sharing! I do have a question though-- I bought the same batting helmet and removed the liner, and it seems like it's going to be an *awfully* tight fit. Did you end up removing any material from the liner, or did you manage to fit the whole thing? I'll play around with it a bit more, but if you have any tips, I'd love to hear 'em. Again-- fantastic job with your suit. It looks bada$$! EDIT -- Haha! I just realized that you flipped the liner around backwards. (Duh!) Just did the same thing in my bucket. Works great! Thanks for the idea!
  6. My AP helmet arrived yesterday! Woo-Hoo! I used the "rounded corner" trimming technique on my earpieces after stuffing myself on turkey today, and I think it turned out really well. I literally sat if front of the computer with BigTurc's pics up, and tried to emulate the curves on his bucket. I'd post pics, but currently the helmet's all covered in blue tape and newspaper-- I'm painting the interior tomorrow. Awwww yeah. A question for everyone that has an AP kit -- after owning the FX, the ABS on my helmet seems really thin. Particularly in the indents for the Hovis. If I hold the faceplate up to the light, it's almost translucent in a couple of spots. And I also notice some swirling within the plastic. <_< Has anyone else noticed simiar properties in their AP bucket? I'm really curious... Hope everyone had an awesome thanksgiving! Thanks again, Al, for posting the photos. It's been a HUGE help to me while I've been putting together my helmet!
  7. My AP helmet is supposed to arrive in the mail on Friday. I'm definitely considering painting the inside-- but I'd love to see what the truck liner looks like as well. That sounds like it might be really cool. If you have some pics, I'd love to see 'em!
  8. DSSL-- I just watched your tutorial on the E-11. All I have to say is.... DAMN YOU! Now I'm gonna have to sink more money into this insanity! After seeing what you were able to put together, I feel hopelessly inferior about my rinky-dink toy blaster. Now I'm gonna have to wander into 30 different hardware stores and ask if they have a "chomper". Thanks a lot, pal! Seriously though-- the blaster looks amazing! You've got some crazy skills, my friend.
