  2. Very cool and very nice looking! I ended up getting the underarmor(ish) material, cutting foam pieces, sewing little pouches and attached them with velcro so I can take them out and wash them if they start to smell. I like this foam stuff though, looks very professional!
  3. Yeah man that's really odd, I literally just finished my armor last week and the smell of glue is gone.
  4. After looking at a few more pictures of other people's armor, I noticed I'm placing the white elastic in the wrong area which would be why they stick out so much. This being said, and judging from the picture, do you think the length they are at this point is good enough? Or should I trim them a little?
  5. Thanks! Here's a front view of the armor, I'm so excited to troop in it!
  6. I have two question about my blaster scope, and the things that connect the chest to back over the shoulder. I did a hasbro conversion and those stupid little orange scope ends broke when I took them off. So essentially I just have a straight through hole (see pics below). Originally I planned to try to go find some pvc caps that would fit this but working in the pool industry for a few years I don't think there is a size that will fit. Any suggestions? Is it ok to keep it like this or do I need to find a way to adjust it? As far as the shoulder pieces I think what I need to do is trim them a little bit to make them shorter, as you will see in the pics they stick out a lot. Or another thing I was thinking is maybe I could heat them up so they form a little better to my shoulder? Any suggestions? Thanks, went out in my armor to a party the other night for the first time, it was awesome!
  7. Ugh, sorry about the triple post my computer started acting up.
  8. I've done all the gluing and I'm ready to start on assembling straps/snaps/elastic etc. I need some spare ABS type material to attach the snaps, I know you can use a for sale sign for the strips that go on the shins, can I use this material for the snaps as well? Thanks!
  9. Epic! If only this was really the case. I despise the Bob.
  10. One thing I have noticed, is the on the left eye (if you're looking at the helmet) there is a bump, someone in my garrison said it's actually screen accurate because there was a close up of a sandtrooper who had the same bump. Another said it was because when I glued the lenses in the plastic warped. I don't really want the bump there, is there a way to get it back or at least a little less bumpy? I'm assuming heat the plastic and move it down a little bit. What's the best technique for that? Thanks!
  11. Oh, and except for the mic tips, I'm in the process of getting them from a fellow garrison member. They're going to be speakers.
  12. I finished my bucket! I just have to attach the padding on the inside, thanks for everyone's help! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/501st/2010-03-1819-13-21864.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/501st/2010-03-1819-14-15370.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/501st/2010-03-1819-15-31037.jpg
  13. Thanks so much! That's a really big help, I can't wait to get home and try it out. I'm thinking maybe I didn't wash the parts good enough and the oils from the resin were still coming out, that's what one of the people in my garrison suggested. I'm going to sand them down, wash very thoroughly and try again with all the tips you've given me!
  14. Thanks for the tips Panda! It's actually not a matter of not being shiny (on the helmet) it's a matter of uneven surfacing. It looks similar to as if I got some super glue on the helmet. As far as prep goes, I did wash them, I actually used your post to do my conversion! I think my main problem was I did not use primer because the type of paint I got told me it was not needed. I used almost a full can trying to get it to stick on these parts, it looks horrible. I wish I could go home and get to work on this, thanks everyone for taking the time to help me out.
  15. Thank you for your replies! The spray paint that I bought said "No primer needed!" however, after using it, I truely wish I would have used primer because it would not bond to the plastic at all. It was a nightmare to be honest. That's why I'd really like to just start over some how. As far as the sanding goes, I'm assuming I'd just sand it down until it's flat again and repaint over that, I would not use primer for that correct? And also one more question as far as touch up with a brush. Given that I used spray paint, Would it suffice to spray a puddle of the same paint I used and use that for the touch up? Or would it be better to go out and try to find the same color in a brush style paint. Thanks, I love this site.
  16. This should probably of gone in the section about painting above. Sorry!
  17. I attempted to paint the frown of my bucket (ANH) last night. I taped the crap out of it but some paint still managed to get on the bucket.... I got it off with some rubbing alcohol but it seems like it molded part of the plastic some how so there's a section about the size of a quarter that is not as smooth as the rest of the bucket. It's almost as if the rubbing alcohol removed the color from the paint but the paint remained. Any suggestions how to smooth it out a little without scratching? Or would I be better off just leaving it? I'll try to take a picture of it when I get home. Second question, I taped off the frown and used spray paint but it came out a little uneven, if I take a paint brush and touch it up will you be able to see brush marks? And final question, I am in the process of a Hasbro conversion, this being the first time I've ever really painted anything I think I did a pretty crap job... Haha... The actual blaster isn't bad, it's the doopydoo parts that I'm really unhappy with. I didn't do even coats and the paint puddled because I didn't hang them up. My question is can I place the parts in a bucket of paint thinner without harming the resen (sp)? Is there a way to strip the paint off and start fresh on these parts? Thanks!
  18. Thank you everyone for your replies! I will do the best I can to adjust the helmet a little better. I really like the low brow look, I am going to make it a stunt bucket but I'd like to keep the brow a little lower, obviously not as low as what I have now. Is this a problem?
  19. Well, I attempted to assemble my first bucket with some guidance from Tray. As I've said before I'm not a very handy person but I really wanted to try to do this. Here are some pics.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/501st/2010-03-0223-51-08855.jpg Front view... One problem I have is I think I put the brow a little too low over the eyes. I was going for the Hero look (which another problem occured after I assembled it I realized). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/2010-03-0223-51-34203-1.jpg Side view... As you can see I cut the brow strip too short, or I believe it's too short. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/VeryQueasy/501st/2010-03-0223-51-21382.jpg Other side.. The other issue that I realized after i already assembled it is Hero helmets only have two screws on the ear pieces. Any suggestions? Oh another issues I had was gluing the lenses in, is there a technique to keep them down while the glue sets? I got glue all over the lense and had to order another set!
  20. Awesome! Thanks! I just ordered them. Thanks!
  21. That's who doesn't have my size in stock =[
  22. Are these boots pricey? They look accurate, and unfortuneatly the TK boot suppliers do not/have not had my size in and aren't expecting to get them in any time soon. Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Stormtrooper-Wars...=item41490587a8
  23. That's what I figured! Thanks!
  24. http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-FULL-STORMTR...=item518b2d2087 What do you think about this set? What kind of armor is it? Would it be worth buying? Thanks!
