  1. Something to keep in mind original helmets were not painted on the inside so if you have dark enough lenses then you don't have to worry about painting. Though I will say nice jobs like the one above make everyone drooll so if you have the inclination go for it!! Be warned though some of the stuff that folks use to line the helmets requires it to be heated and I know a guy who unfortunately warped his very nice expensive helmet trying to line it too quickly.

  2. Thin, thanks for the compliment but I'm 210 lbs. I made the side panels a year ago when I was about 15 lighter, and had to suck it in to make the gap disappear. I have to loose that 15-20 and keep it off since I hope to upgrade this summer.

Wow talk about armor hiding all sorts of iniquities...you wear 210 like a pro. Are you doing that trooper fit club thing? Actually I talked to a friend today who said he dropped 36 lbs in 10 weeks and I asked him how he did it and honestly I was shocked because it truly did involve outrageous calorie burning workout routines with very very low calorie intake. all I could say was "good on you dude!!!"

  3. Welcome to the Fight Scott, recommend you get the admin to upgrade you to 501st since I saw that you were made official this month. I personally use a mod Hasbro. I got some nice Resin parts and glued them on, did a little repaint and it was good to go. I have yet to install fans myself, since I've been trooping in moderate temperatures, I'm sure once summer hits, I'll change my tune.

  4. Mission Report: 19 Apr 2008 Aviano Autism Walk-a-Thon

    Troopers Present: TK7242, ID1341, TK8338, SL2116, TK7489, TD2251, 3 Recruits: Crucil (SL), Benedetti (TK), Dameronese (TK), 2 Guests: Amadeo and Marissa (R2-D2 & C3-PO)

On 19 April, the Italica Garrison participated in the First Annual Aviano Autism Support Group Walk-a-thon. While the morning begun with bad weather, the rain stopped shortly after the event began. The troopers along with R2 and C3-PO marched and posed for pictures during the 4 hour event. As part of their efforts to raise money a silent auction of numerous items donated by honorary members Dave Prowse, Matt Busch, and Karen Traviss was held. Also, children were given the opportunity to “master” (or control) R2-D2 for a small donation of $1. Overall, the Garrison directly contributed 845 euro or 1386 US dollars. Following the event the troopers partook in the traditional Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits meal more affectionately called “Trooping for Biscuits"

Here is a commercial we did (funny thing is I got done like vader, I had to go to a meeting so my buddy "the rookie" voiced both parts), photos to follow:

  5. Welcome to the Fight! I have 2 boys (3 & 1.5) they love that daddy is a "stormtrooper guy". The FX is a good beginner suit, but the helmet is it's only down side. A group of FX helmets together is doable but throw in any other helmet in the mix and suddenly you have a collection of bobble heads. With some ingenuity you can definitely squeeze all your toys into one of the smaller helmets. Anyways, welcome again to the wonderful world of costuming, be ready to become obsessed.

  6. So in May of 77 I was 4 and a half. I was still living in Puerto Rico and I remember seeing the movie with my parents but it's more of a flash memory because I remember the first time Vader came on the screen during the Tantive Raid. I can remember the white Stormies. I also remember calling Vader, Darth Vardar. I honestly can't remember if I saw the movie in Spanish or English though I'm sure it was in English, but I did not speak it back then. My parents did but I had not yet learned English. Now for Empire, I was in the states by then and lived in Orlando FL. I'm pretty sure we went to a theater near the Colonial Mall, not sure the name, saw Return there also. Always with my dad.

  7. Quick question for those using ABS glue, I've had a bottle the whole time but have not used it. I've got this Autism Walk-a-thon and I'm going to try and do 8 miles in my armor and I know for a fact that my thighs are not going to hold with the glue I've used so I want to go strong. Any tips on the ABS, I would appreciate, technique, etc. I have the craftsman adjustable tension clamps, but they do not have any pads. Bottomline I don't want to screw up my thighs.

  8. Go AP...Did you e-mail the GML directly? Also, most garrisons have a forum that they will allow prospective candidates to join so I recommend going to your garrisons website and try joining their forums. It's one way for them to see your serious. Where do you live? Finally, I guarantee you after that first time trooping, you'll know what a rock star feels like and you'll always want to troop. Your armor won't spend a whole lot of time on a manaquin.
