  1. I will definitely document the assembly process. I won't do any video since I don't have a video camera but I will take pics. Technically my camera can take video but only short duration, we'll see how it works. I may actually farm the trimming part out to another guy locally to help speed things up. I'll be traveling for work for a couple of weeks right when the suit arrives (assuming it arrives before I leave). Though I think documenting the trimming part is very for everyone.

  2. Well I ordered AP armor today. I decided that since I'm kinda short, 5'8", the AP would fit me better. I also figured since I would have to replace the FX helmet pretty quickly for fit reasons (another $250) I would be spending almost as much as I would for the AP suit. Now I hope I can assemble it. Soon the Seattle garrison will grow by one.

  3. when you say trim, glue, and trim again, is the second trimming refering to length of parts? I know you have to trim off the extra plastic from the molding process before you can glue it. Then I guess you may need to trim the length of parts to fit the lenght of your forearms, legs etc. Did you have to trim the chest and back plates to fit you? I'm hoping a coworker of mine who does prototype modeling for my company will help me out some, at least to get started.

  4. Hi All,

I've been searching thru the site for an official list of requirements to be made a member in the the Legion. I can't find a list. Can someone point me in the right direction? I know armor is required, but does that also include a gun? I realize you want to have the proper gear but that can take a bit to assemble so I'm wondering what the bare minimum is.

  5. Hi Guys,

I've already read that link. Unfortunately all the guys in that link are taller than me. As I've found with just regular old clothes, if the sleaves are too long the shirt looks bad on me. My big concern is not padding a suite but having the parts too long and not being able to trim them with out making them look odd. I do work with guys who build plastic models for my company so I do have access to guys who know how to work with plastic models (our models are computer terminals, handheld scanners, etc).

  6. Hi All,

I'm only 5'8" and about 160lbs. I'm sure I'm not the only short trooper wanna be out there. Do any of the short guys have suggestions on armor size? I know the FX is recommended for beginners but it might be a bit big for my frame. If you cut it down to fit better would that not affect the look of the suit? Or are the arm and leg pieces not a concern its mainly the chest plats which can be cut shorter on the side that is hidden? AP armor is another choice but its suppose to be much harder to build and also costs a lot more. RT armor is now made bigger for guys over 6' so it will probably be too loose on me. So any short guys out there want to share their armor fitting experieces with me would be greatly appreciated.

  7. Hi Guys,

I'm also in the market for armor but I'm only 5'8" tall and about 160lbs. Are there any sets you would steer me away from that would be too tall for me? My big fear is that I would end up looking like I'm wearing my big brothers clothes. I like the price on the FX. I'm more concerned about a good fit vs being perfectly movie accurate. From what I've read, the suits in the movies certainly varied a lot in the small details. I'm also concerned that the helmet might be too big for me, if that's possible? I find a lot of baseball caps too big. I figure if you have to look left or right and the helmet does not pivot with your head that would be a bit of a problem. I'm also not a great crafts man so if the armor is really complicated to put together that would be an issue for me. Thanks for any advice.

  8. my mistake, it must have been Disney MGM. I wasn't there, my sister told me all about it. So does anyone know if those where Disney suits and people or did they invite Legion members to the park for the summer. From what my sister said, it was running all summer, not just the weekend she was there. It would have been in the MGM park not Disney.

  9. Thanks for all the feedback. I kinda realized my oversight after posting my questions. I started looking thru alot of the other newbie posts and saw that my questions were typical. I have contacted my local legion and will be talking with them to find out more about the legion and its activities. It looks like a fun organization to join. Say, my sister took her family this past summer to Universal Studios in FL. They were having a Star Wars celebration all summer. The park was full of Stormtroopers on patrol. I was wondering if they were employees of the park or did legion members volunteer to "patrol" the park and pose for photo ops with the kids? My 7 yo nephew was on cloud nine. He loves star wars.

  10. Hi all,

I just recently found out about the Legion and I'm very interested in it. The first step is getting armor. Though I am an engineer, I don't have the tools or skills to actually make my own. I've seen a lot of references to the FX armor and also ANH. Are they both still available for direct purchase? I can't seem to actually find their websites? Is there any other armor that is recommended? I'm interested in the traditional stormtrooper suit used in the original Star Wars movies. I live out in Seattle, WA. Thanks.
