GosHawk[501st] Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) I have one of those Radio shack mini Audio Amps----------- mounted in my chest piece. And I have been looking around at some throat mics and found some that look alright. I just want something I can plug in to the voice amp and be heard with out any mods. These are the ones I was looking at. -------- suggestions? input? Edited March 25, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link removed no longer working Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 Personally, I'd avoid throat mics, at least ones of that caliber. I played with a few $100 ones at a paintball game and they were horrible. A standard boom mic headset is way better and much clearer. I have friends that were in the military, and unless you're willing to spend a few hundred on a throat mic, its not worth it. These lower cost ones tend to skip sounds, and if any contact is missed between your mic and neck, they don't work. There's also a hollow sound to them, which might be compounded by having your speaker under your armor. You also need to have them on fairly snug around your neck, which might be uncomfortable under all your gear anyways. It's up to you, but I'd suggest a regular headset mic or wireless set up instead. TK 6918[501st] Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 Panda is right, unless you spend top dollar on a throat mic, then it's not worth getting a throat mic. I bought a $150 dollar one but I can't give you a review on it yet as they sent me the wrong adapter for it. I had a cheap one from radioshack a long time ago and it sucked. Quote
GosHawk[501st] Posted November 2, 2009 Author Report Posted November 2, 2009 Thanks for the input guys. Maybe saveing up for a romfx system is the best bet. And I'll continue to use my boom mic setup till then Quote
