Laspector[TK] Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 I can't express this topic enough--NEVER EVER EVER buy cheap spray paint for anything you are painting!!!!!If you are paying less than $4.00 for a can of spray paint you are probably getting crap. I have been painting stuff for 30 years and I never seem to learn the lesson. Was just painting something and went to the paint closet where I have probably 50 cans or more of spray paint I've accumulated--grabbed the first can of flat black I saw, totally ruined what I was working on. Some cheap spray paints come out like tempora paint or are full of little "silly string" sh1t or splatter all over the place... Worst of all is a paint called "Color Place". It's like 98 cents at Walmart. Most godawful paint in the universe!!! I seem to have about 20 cans of this junk I've bought over the years. Chunk all of it!!! It drys very powdery. Ain't worth a crap!!!! You get what you pay for. Quote

Rustoleum painters touch which is an excellent paint in my oppionion as well as krylon paints are only about $4 a can. but first of all, why would you be touching your armor with a spray paint called "Color Place" that costs 98 cents from Walmart? That just sounds like poor judgement. Quote

I already admitted it was poor judgement on my part, you don't have to rub it in... Just trying to pass on a learned lesson.... Quote

TK-2126_MD[TK] Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 Man this is my daily hobby nightmare , down here in Bolivia all we get is the really bad stuff. actually there are only 3 main brands. International B&P ( the Worst but there Gloss white..... man i think it may be up there with Rustoleum white... TOYO ( second best but has some that are awesome, there " mat Black" looks like it is a powder coat finish!!! Profesional Designer ( american) this ones the best) but hard to come by few colors. In my humble experiance u have to test and play around with different brands and see what work on what and how. better to invest on experimintation then killing a project. One thing i did was play around with the nozzel heads some are better for some paints then the ones they come with. One has to play with the hand hes dealt....... Thx for the thread it was good to vent!!!!! Quote
Darth Voorhees[501st] Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 that sucks man,i hope ya got it sorted out! Also, something to keep in mind aside from the cheapo brands is the age of the sprays. they get stringy or spattery sometimes just from getting old,and im talkin about the good brands. It happened to me more than once once with various rustolem or krylon paints. One can of krylon i had once, the paint was probably 2-3 yrs old, and it was stringy...i got a new can and it was fine. I cant imagine how bad an old can of cheapo paint would be! Quote
Smitty Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 I use the flat black colorplace on my blasters for 98 cents. Always been good paint to me. I wouldn't trust their gloss white tho lol. And remember "new project = new paint" Quote
