Since I was pretty pissed off by the difference in color between my sweet TM and the CaBoots, I decided to do something about it while I wait for a nice pair of accurate boots to pop up on Ebay.

So here's what to do: grab some 150 or 180 grit paper and sand them!

Do it gently and evenly, don't apply too much pressure and work always in the same direction, you just want to rub off the blueish glossy coating.

Underneath it there's the core of the faux leather which is a more milky white and matches the armor color almost perfectly!

And the finish is now matte just like the original ones.

Don't sand too much or you're gonna expose the canvas layer underneath, so be gentle and take your time.

Go easy on the seams too, or you might ruin them.

This is a slow and very boring job, but the result will pay off.

Obviously this operation renders them weaker, more delicate and not waterproof, but definitely prettier.

I might consider spraying them with clear Plasti Dip to protect them.

I'm pretty happy!!! If only I thought of that before the photoshooting...

The front seam is always there and even more evident, but you can touch it up with some white paint.

Happy sanding!!! :D

I like that- I think I may have to do this. I was thinking that instead of Plasti-dip it might be an idea to use the white shoe dye that I bought for dying boots- this willl presumably offer up a more protective finish. What do you think?

I used Plasti Dip to paint my latex handguards: PERFECT!

It grips like hell, it's superflexible, it's TOUGH, the finish is smooth and the white is spot on. And again: it's TOUGH.

I maybe paint the boots with white Plasti Dip as well!
