Better to leave it that lenth and see how it fits with the rest of the armor. Then you can tweak things a little if need be.

would you guys suggest finishing them now and then moving on? I don't want a bunch of partially completed parts laying around.  This is my first build just trying to do it right the first time. Thanks.

I would try putting together one arm completely then trim it to fit you properly.  Then move on to the next arm.

Any where that you have pieces that must interact with other pieces or must avoid interactions with other pieces,  use the method described previously.

Remember,  you can always cut some material off. It's hard to put it back and make it look right.

So when in doubt measure 3 times and cut 1 time. Or cut off less than you think. You can always trim off some more to make it fit better.

Be cautious,  pieces are expensive to replace.

so you mean forearms and biceps or those plus shoulder bells? Thanks again for your help. I just dont want to put the cover strips on until I know they are good to know.

Yeah work from the shoulder down. Once you have where the biceps will be then check the forearms. This will give you the proper size for your arm.
