Wanting to mod suit, so I can sit.

Hello, I'm new here and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas to modding my butt plate for my stormtrooper.

 

I was thinking of cutting along the waist under the Belt so its not visible, and attaching it with buckles/clips so i can sit down in the suit.

The only problem i see occurring with this is the wear and tear of the edge i cut rubbing on the belt when i sit.

 

Has anyone modded a suit to sit? how did you do it, and how is it holding up?
