matt black Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I am very dissapointed to find that I am going to have to add about 1" side shims either side of my ab and kidney plates. I say I'm dissapointed because I wanted to be more S/A but never mind. We can't all be super slim. My question is how to fix the side shims. On one side I was going to glue both sides of the shim so it is permanent and on the other side of the ab just glue down one side and have velcro on the other so I can put it on. Does this make any sense and is this the way to go about it? Any pics of how others have done the shims would be very much appreciated. Mant thanks and I promise the many questions are almost at an end........ Rob. Quote
quocle603 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 What I did was got a "For Sale" sign at Walmart for 2 bucks and the measured how much I needed, then I put two pieces of velcro on the shim piece and then two pieces of velcro on to my armor, and made my shim piece complete. For a stronger hold, I would put some E6000 glue on the velcro to hold it together onto the armor Here is a good tutorial that I followed -http://www.tonybarnett.plus.com/shims.html Quote

TK bondservnt[501st] Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 I have snaps, velcro and elastic on my side shims. they clamshell from front to back and it really makes the gap go away in photos. Quote
Dom Starscreamer[501st] Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 TK-4607 (Quoc), On the for sale sign, how is the color match with the armor? Does any of the lettering show through? Where can I get small sheets of plain pieces of abs? Would any of the local big box retailers carry these? Thanks.
