matt black Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Hello everyone, This is my nearly finished E11 that I have been working on for a couple of weeks. So far I have been really pleased with how it has turned out even though it has fought me every step of the way and anything that could go wrong, has. I wanted to build the best that I could afford so I went with a pipe build with a Doopy doo's kit. I got a real M38 and fitted a red lens inside. I fitted a real Hengstler and made the scope rail and counter bracket using Billhags fantastic tutorial. I also made a D-ring and front scope using the blaster builders club plans. However............ I have just come to realize that the scope rail seems to be sitting too high, the scope is mounted in the wrong place and the mag housing does not line up the the ejection point. I am really fed up as this is my first build and I wanted to do a real good job especialy because I got so much great help from the wonderful people here at FISD. So please be brutally honest with me all you blaster experts, have I messed it up or will this still be O.K for EIB. Help me FISD.......your'e my only hope. Forgot to mention. The blaster looks a lot more shiny in the pics and the silver ejector port is'nt that silver in real ife. It's made of real metal. I also fitted a wooden rod inside the blaster so that I could screw every part to it rather than just use glue. All other very small parts have been pinned. matt black Posted February 13, 2011 Author Report Posted February 13, 2011 Oh thank God! You don't know how pleased I am. Thanks for that Mason. I hope you like what I have done with the pipe that you sent me. Thanks again mate. Your'e a star. Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Matt, I don't think that you are going to fail the EIB with what you have done by the scope rail being a little too high, the Hegnstler being farther away from the body and the M38 being more forward than normal. The blaster requirements for EIB ANH state: Blaster * Folding stock (does not need to function) * Hengstler counter * D-ring on the rear * Correct style scope * Two power cylinders on the magazine * Scratch-built, resin cast, Hyperfirm rubber cast. -- Total of 6 T-racks on blaster (leaving the lowest row on the Hengstler side un-covered) * Hasbro blasters: -- Total of 7 T-racks (if you cover all the original Hasbro rows of holes) or 6 T-tracks (if you cover the original Hasbro "open row" of holes on the Hengstler side. Below this, you must grind off the original Hasbro lower T-track and drill a new row of holes) -- Hasbro blasters are discouraged but allowed * No ESB/ROTJ greeblies on the blaster are allowed There is no where in this list does it state that placement of parts are measured or specifiy the sheen of the paint. So I think you can breathe easy about that. However, if you want to, you could take the time and move the scope back on the rail, tighten the Hengstler closer to the body of E11 and make the body a satin black. You have worked hard this far, why not go all the way. Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I think it will pass fine for EIB. But if it really bugs you, it shouldn't take that long to re-glue the magazine. And if you're going to make a new rail for the scope to make it lower, just install the scope in the proper position? Personally, I like to do stuff right once (even if it means fixing or redoing something) rather than to have to take it all apart again later. I will end up procrastinating and never fixing it, so I try to do it from the get go. Quote
dashrazor Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 like tom said.. small details like exact measurments will not effect your eib. you can always work on the small details as you find the time.. i am always "friggin with my stuff" to improve this or that.. i actually have to force myself to stop at times lol Quote
matt black Posted February 13, 2011 Author Report Posted February 13, 2011 Thanks for all the help and comments guys. I'll do some tweaking and get the rest of the parts fitted then take some better pics to show. Thanks again. Rob. Quote
