The Phantom[TK] Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Hi all..I know it is a bit late in the piece but since there are a plethora of builds showing cutting glueing etc I have decided to go to the webbing... I have done the webbing except for the thighs which I am shimming tonight along with the calves...I think the webbing came out ok maybe a bit of minor adjusting but very happy with it easy to get on and off but the test will come to see how it stands up to a troop will post some pics of the internal webbing soon. The pics are of a test fitting to see how things sit and I would love some feedback. I know I have to cut off the butt plate I am just trying to figure out the easiest way to do this and I know the kidney plate is flapping around and this will be fixed when I add the shims to both sides of about 50mm (2 inches) or so. Should the back plate sit on the top of the kidney plate? When I do add the shims should the kidney and the ab plate line up at the top as shown in the last pic? TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 if you're going for ANH then you need to have the kidney and rear plate separated and affixed with strapping in the center and at each side to keep them close together. if you're doing an ROTJ then you don't split those parts. the back and kidney plates do overlap on some people's torso because of the length from hip to shoulders. the kidney plate can ride under the back plate just a little... sure... the kidney plate and ab plates once connected will show you how much overlap you'll have according to your body type. pandatrooper[TK] Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Looking good so far! There's an article on the Academy site that shows how the back can be attached to the kidney section. http://www.whitearmor.net/home/tutorials/armor-tutorials/ab-and-back.html Quote
The Phantom[TK] Posted September 5, 2010 Author Report Posted September 5, 2010 Thanks for that guys...I should have made mention that I am going for ANH...I will seperate the kidney and butt plates...as for the back and kidney plates overlapping I will have to see if I can achieve this once I have everything sorted, if I can't can they be sitting on each other? Will this affect EIB status? Quote
The Phantom[TK] Posted September 27, 2010 Author Report Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) Hi all...sorry I have been a bit slack in updating this but we had a big get together here on the weekend and just have to say I got my TK ANH Hero approved I had a big push to get the armour finished and I didn't have time to take more pics...sorry. I will get the pics from the GML to post up here along with some others to get everyones comments on what I need to do, I am sure there are some details I missed, to get EIB status, or should I just apply for EIB and get comments there??? Thoughts?? Ok here are some pics I had taken tonight by my lovely wife and son please let me know your thoughts and comments. Front Back LHS, there are 6 rivets there, last 2 obsured by the belt RHS The things I know I need to do 1. Change the Chicago screws holding up the belt to silver, only had brass in stock. 2. Put some straps or eleastic holding chest plate and back plate down 3. Might need to put some elastic around the shoulder bells to the bicep. 4 Need to put extra track on my blaster. I would really appreciated your expert feedback and if you want to see better pics please let me know. Once I have the feedback I will apply for EIB. Edited September 27, 2010 by The Phantom Quote
