Pipe blaster build: Hole drilling

The most exhausting work when making a pipe blaster is drilling all the holes.

You have to be very exact, (thus slow) and if you misalign 1, you have to start over again.

 

So, is it really necassary to drill ALL of them? Most are /should be covered by the T-tracks anyway? ( to original intention was to "hide" them anyway.

 

What you you think? How did you do it?

if you use a template glued to the tube then you shouldn't go wrong. Just take your time.

There really is something quite satisfying about a tube with loads of holes drilled in it.

for it to be screen accurate you will need to drill them all as you can still see them a bit even with the T-track on.....

What Mark said -- glue it on with a glue stick and use a multibit if it's a softer sort of metal. There is definitely something satisfying about that fully drilled barrel.

Drill press my friend... That and a good press clamp. Take your time, measure and mark your holes first. It will look great.

Thanks for the link. Already got them tough. I was looking for screen used pics. Do you happen to know know where to find a 40 mm template?

Maybe look for some Sterling L2A3 SMG references instead?

The magic words are: pilot holes.

Drill small pilot holes first, then it will be easier to drill the big size holes. They'll just follow the pilots.

Loads of pics of some screen-used blasters. Some of them reconditioned, but since it is the original manufacturer who did the reconditioning, I reckon it's quite accurate to the original version.
