Hiya Jamie.
Like many have said here, the MRCE is a durable little bugger and for that reason I love it. It's damned near indestructible, which can be a good thing on some troops.
I also agree with many who have said that you will want to improve up to a movie accurate lid sooner or later. I'm ready to do that now, but I'll still keep the ol MRCE for troops that are likely to involve the public getting a bit 'too touchy'.
I don't know if its any help but there is a shop in Darlington ( Wow Factor ) that regularly stocks MRCE lids. Maybe if you found their E-mail they would post one out to you.

Hi Alan welcome to FISD. I think I replied to one of your posts on the UKG.
-
I think the UKG forum had technical problems earlier this week.
Give it a try again mate.
-
Nice one Jason.
Were you the guy who was having a good chat with the spotters that day?
-
Nice one Pablo.
Congrats buddy
-
Hiya Jason.
The armour is lookin good bro.
You need to trim off the little overhangs of plastic you have at the tops of the forearms, but other than that I think you've done a good build mate.
Whats your boardname on the UK Garrison?
Good luck with clearance

Welcome to the family Julie.
I bet the weather is better where you are than in the UK

Yep, leave it Mark. It's good honest real life wear and tear.
I'm weathering clone trooper armour at the moment and trying to recreate what wears naturally is a pain.
Your TM looks great.

Well deserved Mr. Haggis

Hmmm, I wonder why

Welcome to the Empire Chad.

Aah the crappy Rubies costume rears its ugly head again.
Has anyone ever tried to get 501st clearance with one of these?
-
Hey Shiv, you've been buying again mate.
It's a thing of beauty Nothing beats a nice BFG.

Hi Greg.
I actually ordered my FX from this seller. It is OK but not brilliant. In hindsight I wished I'd gone for somthing better. The kit will pass 501st clearance but it has a few difficulties ( like two left calves for example ) which just make the build more annoying.
Best of luck mate.

I don't know about sandblasting.... I have done it a few times on metal.... and you would destroy plastic IMO.
I gotta agree with John. I've used a sandblaster many times and even with the pressure down low I can't see it not breaking through any weaker areas in the helmets.
Superb reference photo's by the way guys. I'm gonna be retiring my FX and building another armour next year and I feel the urge to go ESB...

Aah, was just gonna suggest the Blaster Builders Club.
Welcome Wiley and good luck with the blaster build. We wanna see pictures.

Hiya Michael. Welcome to the ranks

Hey Chris with a lid that shiney you'll need more spotters around to prevent those pesky fingerprints mate
-
Its great that your getting ready for the 501st so early mate. Good luck with the helmet build and remember to post some pics when you do.

Did a great little troop in Goole, Humberside on saturday. Then today worked on my 501st Legion clonetrooper armour for few hours. Now having a few beers and cruising the FISD, the UKG and Clonenetwork.

Yeah I agree as well. Billy Haggis has been a great help to me with my E-11 mods, and he is a great guy to troop with.
Also Steve Parkes (TK6631, I think), who has lived upto the 'troopers helping troopers' motto. Twice he has offered me bits n pieces and has refused to take any payment.

Oh yes Paul, lots of pretty colour pictures please.
Welcome buddy from another fellow UK trooper. Are you gonna join the 501st UK Garrison?
-
It does help a bit, so I think its worth it.
I agree with adding a strap and poppers too. Not just if you haven't trimmed the long tab off, but to prevent any embarresing 'cod flap'

Hiya Anto from a fellow UK trooper.
Good to see you on the FISD. Have you registered on the 501st UK Garrison yet?
