  1. I want to ask those who troop a lot in their armor a question as my garrison did over 50 troops last year, so they are pretty active. (This is regarding FX armor) Two other TK's I have seen have their thighs, shins and forearms velcro'd on both sides. I like the look of those parts glued in the front as it makes them look nicer but I am worried about stress on the parts. Will the glue hold up to parts being opened up over and over???

I am probably being dumb but better to ask now and be sure before I start applying the glue.

  2. Hello everyone, this is my first post at FISD - I am just taking my first steps toward getting my own TK armor. I live in Sioux Falls, SD and have been talking with some of the Central Garrison folks to help me make some decisions about what's best for me.

I have been leaning toward an ANH trooper with an FX kit (I'm aware of the limitations of the FX kit, particularly the "bobblehead" reputation of the helmet). I realize this is the ESB trooper forum, but I have a question about holsters after reading this thread. I know (or think I know) that the TK's in the movie were left-handed, so the ANH holster goes on the left. I'm right handed and wondered if an ESB trooper might be better for me, with the holster on the right. But if I read this thread correctly, it sounds like the setup is designed for southpaws in either case. If I understand correctly, the grip of the blaster faces back in the ANH holster, while the grip faces forward (designed to be grabbed with a left hand crossover :P ) in the ESB/ROTJ holsters.

Does anyone have any reference pics of correctly-holstered blasters, preferably for both left and right holsters? I guess there's no way to solve this problem, since the magazine sticks out the side of the E-11? To the veteran troopers - I suppose this isn't a big deal in actually practice, while you are trooping?

Just curious - thanks for your help, and nice to "meet" you!

The main problem is the direction the mag faces, as Supertrooper mentioned above. With the holster on the left, the mag faces away from your leg, if you mount the holster on the right and don't reverse the blaster (with the grip facing forward), the mag will sit into your leg. I am going for ANH with my TK and even though I am right handed, my weapon will be holstered into the left when I am not carrying it (since I am also going to carry the DLT-19). I don't see it being any sort of problem

  3. I'd be interested.

Like the others, I just tried my first AP and I can barely get my head in.

Yeah same problem here. I am building my first set of armor (FX) and have ordered some different parts here and there but am finishing the bucket now. I want a more accurate bucket but on a troop today, I tried a friend's AP on my big melon and it was very tight to say the least. I had to move it back and forth a few times lol but I was able to get it on. I am trying to decide between an AP or TE2, as long as I can get it on and off, I can deal with it lol.

  4. I just ordered a new set of CABoots today. If you notice that the price on ebay is $60 plus $15 for shipping whereas on thier website its $70 plus $15 shipping. I just discovered that if your size isnt listed on ebay you can call CABoots and ask for the $60 price in boots that are your size and they will discount thier price to match thier ebay auction. Or they did for me at least. :pint1:

really? That is the next item on the list of things to order, might have to try calling them and see how that goes.

  5. Late greeting but hello. I see you are a DropKick Murphys fan.

Oh yeah, my favorite band, period. Seen them so many times, even drove from Florida to Boston to see three St. Patrick's Day shows back in 2004, drove up on Thursday and back on Sunday night after the last show. I was absolutely exhausted but it was totally worth it to see them play on their home turf at the (then) Avalon Ballroom. Been seeing them perform since before Do or Die was an album lol.

  6. My head is 25.5 inches around, which I think in a hat size is something like 8 1/4, and I can fit my head in an MRCE. I had to take out the crappy padding (which one should do anyway), but it fits. So I would say a MRCE would definitely fit you, and is definitely a step up from the FX bucket.

Hope that helps! And from one melon head to another I feel your pain! :D

Haha thanks. I have been reading on that one as well, so many choices. I have been reading on what to modify to make that one more accurate. I am about ready to decide and my local garrison is doing a troop this weekend, so I am gonna take some time looking over some armor and probably make my final decision so I can get started on this.

  7. I think I am going to go with the FX armor for my first TK build, I will take my time with it and make it look as nice as possible but I think for my size (6'1" and 225lbs) and my current budget, it is the best option for me. I have read that many people do not like the FX bucket however and I am now looking at going the FX lite route and sourcing a different bucket.

My question is that I have kind of a big melon lol, my hat size is 7 5/8, will I have any issue with an AP bucket?? I am sure its' not a problem but I am a little curious. Also looking for opinions as well, I want the bucket to look good but I am looking for 501st membership and lots of trooping with my armor, not really concerned with elite status, etc...

Any and all input is greatly appreciated guys.

    Thanks.

  8. Thanks for the responses. It's tough, I want to just start buying stuff so badly but from what I have read I know that is a mistake. I am trying to get to know some of the guys from my local garrison and with their advice will make a decision on how to get started. I have spent years building engines/cars/models/radio control stuff so I do look forward to all the work in making a TK. Some of the threads on here are so helpful with the buckets and of course Stukatroopers build pics. I hope I can make mine look as good.

  9. Hey all, my name is Seann and I just joined up as I was directed here for some good reading material by a couple guys in the Everglades Squad. I am really excited to do this and want to jump right in but will instead kick back and read, learn, read and uh read again lol. I think I have settled on an ANH and possibly the hero bucket, I am 6' 220lbs with a 7 5/8 hat size. I must say from what I have read so far its' a bit overwhelming but I really want to take my time and do this right, I am very particular about details so waiting for a better looking trooper is worth it to me.

I can't believe the amount of info on this site, I look forward to getting started on this.
