  1. I have been using a ROMFX for sound for quite a while and I really liked it, but struggled to get enough volume from it. I upgraded to an Aker MR1505 amp but when I plugged the ROMFX into it, I wasn't happy with the audio quality . Now I have discovered the Teensy 3.2 ( google it if you don't know what it is). With the added audio board it is fully capable of real time signal processing and playing back pre-recorded sounds either from memory or an SD card. The whole thing with the sound board measures a tiny 1.4 x 1.4 inches (35mm x 35mm) I now have mine doing bandpass voice filtering rather than just distortion and static burst with just a hint of white noise to give a very realistic radio effect. It uses the same programming environment as the Arduino, but it took me a little longer to learn just because it can do so much more. I am just working on getting the power from the Aker to the Teensy and then the whole package will be a self contained voice unit, giving great sound quality and loads of volume. Will post up some pics once it's done. Wil.
  2. Hi Mark. Thanks for the comments. It does look long in the photo doesn't it. But I think that's just the iPhone lens. I actually copied the Velcro size from the very well made belt that I currently have and you know where that came from
  3. The material i used was sold as heavy cotton, but definetly has the same diagonal twill weave that yours has. I have used the natural coloured fabric and will whiten it with tennis shoe whitener The fabric does seem to have a right and a wrong side. The diagonal weave is only visible on one side. The other side has a square pattern.
  4. Decided to have a go at my own screen accurate belt. Took inspiration from the RS propmaster belt thread. This is 3 layers of canvas 2 layers of interfacing and a satin inside face. The layers were all glued together using spray on fabric glue before stitching and overlocking. Quite pleased with the results. Seems to look quite like the original pictures. Wil.
  5. Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I have searched and googeld for hours and can't find an answer. Has anyone identified the third material used in the stormtrooper belt . The top is canvas, the bottom is a satin like material, but what is the third material used in the layers that is talked about by RS and Clothears? Wil.
  6. Just wondering if anyone has tried a surface transducer instead of conventional speakers for their voice amp. For those who aren't sure what I am on about, a surface transducer can turn virtually any object into a speaker. If you google "surface transducer" there are plant of explanations of what they are. Was thinking of attaching one to the inside of my chest armour and turning that into my speaker for my ROMFX Wil
  7. Just a quick note about pipe sizes. Plastic pipe is very hard to get hold of in 1.5" or 38 mm. If you buy plastic (ABS or PVC) plumbing pipe sold as 1.5 inch it will probably measure between 40 and 43 mm outside diameter. Pressure pipe will be 40mm, pushfit waste comes in at about 41mm and solvent weld abs at 43mm. (you might also come across 1.25" pressure pipe at 42.2mm). If you want exactly 1.5" you can get acrylic tube (perspex) but this is a little brittle if you drop it. Or my preferred option is aluminium tube. You can buy this in various wall thickness and it is relatively easy to work compared to steel. It paints up nice if you use the right primer and also keeps the weight down. Wil
  8. Didn't know that, I did notice that sandtroopers seem to have 12 indents whilst the storm troopers (in ANH at least) have 11 indents. Went back and checked my reference pics and then I noticed that just about all my sandy pics were of right arms and my stormtrooper pics were of left arms. I then managed to find one good pic with both sides of a stormtrooper and you are quite right, 12 indents on the right and 11 indents on the left. If any one wants to see the pics, I can post them for you. Wil
  9. Thanks for your help. Just need to try and spot the differences between the right and left sides now then . Another few hours staring at my reference pics should help !! I have a couple of pics of the inside of the forearm. I think the "muscle bulge" might be a little too pronounced. I am thinking of taking it down a little to try and match the pictures I am using a little better. The bulge doesnt look to big on my screen grabs. This is done in plastacene at the moment and needs a little final smoothing before I take a female cast and then make the final mould in Herculite. (Also I think I need to add a taper to the wrist end to help the mould release. What do you think? ----------
  10. I am in the middle of sculpting my new forearm moulds. After spending an age looking at various reference pictures I still cant make my mind up if the left and right forearms are from the same moulds? The raised section with the hollows cut out is obviously twisted slightly, but on some pictures it twists towards the thumb and on others it twists towards the little finger. Unfortunately I cant find a picture with a view of both arms to see if one side twists up and the other down or if the twists are both in the same direction Your thoughts would be appreciated Wil.
