Keep an out for SuperTrooper's speaker runs he does every so often. Unlike other aerator speaker sellers claim, these fit perfectly in Hovi Mix tips and I've gotten a good amount of volume out of them using a gutted $12 Radio Shack amp and a $30 powered mic. Once I add some foam to cut down on feedback, I'll be able to raise it even louder.

I watched lots of coverage on this last night and I'm really hoping & praying for the best, especially for our 501st brothers and sisters.

You can't spell Caucasian without Asian, but that doesn't make them the same thing either.
I don't like "rap," either. Rap is the crap you hear on the radio that all sounds the same and ignorant. I listen to hip hop (yes, there is a big difference between that and rap), techno (almost all forms but happy hardcore), some rock (the kind that requires knowing more than 3 chords), jazz, blues, salsa, reggaeton, and a lot of other thing. I'm not a big fan of angry white boy (or girl) music, punk, or metal (again with the angry guys screaming). I don't listen to the radio or watch music videos, so I've amassed a pretty large CD and mp3 collection over the years.

Did you get the regular kit or the Economy kit mentioned in this thread?
Indeed, if it was the regular kit, there's no need for reviews or photos in this thread at it was created for the economy kit.

I think with examples we've been provided, costs not withstanding, a well modded Hasbro can act as a reasonable facsimile. It makes one wonder why someone would spend almost an equal amount of money modding a toy when you can get a quality blaster at a bargain price, as Bernard has illustrated. It all comes down to the individual and knowing proper sources to get what's needed. If newbie "X" doesn't know of any reputable sources to get a quality blaster, he may opt for the modded toy. But I digress.
I believe the well modded toy can look very convincing and, much like helmet and armor mods, I've seen some inventive and excellent mods done. I've also seen some horrific examples (i.e. my own first attempt).

Wow man, that's always rough. Hang in there, tough times build character. Best of luck with the job search!

My my my! What elitists we've all become and in such short time! The FISD has been around for over a year now, we're still in our infantile stage of our progression. It took quite a while to come up with "elite" qualifications, we tried to make them fair and obtainable. The quallifications are fine for right now. Why? How many "elite" statused members do we have? Just a handful. Others are working on it, which is great... it does not mean it's time to raise the bar. How long as the MEPD been in operation? I don't know the definitive answer but "a hell of a lot longer than us" is one way of putting it. Have they seen fit to ban certain armor/helmet types that are allowed by for 501st Legion membership? I don't believe so. What have they done: they raised the bar by making a TD more like a TD should be; with a pack, dirty, a BFG, etc.
Part of the point of a detachment is to help the costuming standards and we are already way ahead of the curve in regards to the Legion's TK standards. By shutting out others in FX helmets, you're driving away many others who like their helmets. The ANH V2 is not screen accurate either, so why would that be accepted, because it's a bit more accurate? How long until those helmets are not considered "elite?" Why stop at the helmet? We all know the FX kit is not completely accurate either, so if we're voting, let's just vote out the FX kit all together!
Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Given the rate at which we're going, that'll be the conversation by next summer. If you want your "elite" status to be a label of elitism, you can have it and you'll enjoy the company of the dozen or so guys who have the same label. I'm for raising the bar, but how about taking it one piece at a time?
But that's just the thoughts of a large craniumed trooper who happens to like his helmet, despite how inaccurate it may be. When I complete my upgrades and if I qualify for deployment at that time, I seriously doubt I'd submit it if this is the attitude of the "elite."
It's sad really. I've been here since almost the beginning and I never thought I'd see a time so quickly that people turned so elitist.

Please remember that this discussion is not about trooping with the more accurate blaster, its having one when submitting your photo's for elite status
That's almost the mort indeed, silly thing I've heard all day. Anyone who buys a blaster just to take *a* photo is a moron, period. By your reasoning, I could just borrow an accurate blaster for the photos. What's really the difference? I mean, it's just for photos, right?
Well Scot, it has everything to do with my argument...that would mean that the elite status would then be placed at a higher bar than the 501st standards...these standards are there for those of us who want to achieve them, not for those who want to troop in screen accurate armor remember this pleas......remember that this is about attaining the elite status, not trooping, and not being apart of the 501st...being apart of the 501st is an option for members here such is the elite status, just because you are an elite trooper doesn't mean that you are in or want to be in the 501stYou have to be a member of the 501st to be eligible FISD "Elite" (I still hate this word) status. I'm not sure how you could have even slipped up on that fact. I'm not sure what's in the Kool-Aid you're drinking, but I'll just have a Sprite.

Try the web site for the helmet: http://www.imperialsurplus.com/

I can understand people wanting Elite to be more stringent than it is, but let's not forget the main goal: to encourage and reward excellence in costuming, not to be the penultimate standard that can be achieved.
This is exactly why I have always been against using the word "elite." It then makes people things aren't good enough. I think it's too dismissive to say a Hasbro can't be made to look damn good. Again using Kahler's blaster as an example of how it can look, it shows you it can be made to work. Pretty much any set of armor can be made to fit the deployment status with some effort.
In the end it's all in what you put into it, not how much you spend on it.

what is "Old Timers" name on here so we know when he replies to these postings?
He doesn't post here.

Stay on target...

I posted this a little while back on the Florida boards, but they can't take anything seriously over there. LOL!!!
Especially those nut jobs in North Florida. But like I said before, nicely done!
-
Isn't this what the MEPD boards are for? We answer questions to the tune of "how should I shine my armor?"
-
Seriously, you need to do your own research on this. There are many, many threads on this and web sites devoted to just these helmets. Anything anyone tells you is thier opinion. They all stand out in their own way.

This is not an interest list, so if you want to order one, do so at http://troopercomminterface.com/Very frickin interested. Count me in!
This is not my merch run, this is a garrison mate of mine. I spoke to him and he will not be holding any boxes. There may only be one run if there's not enough interest to merit a second one. If you're really want one, I'd say get your order in now.Would, you be willing to hold one until I get my armor (sometime from now, till December?) -
Hello carlos !!
BBG is doing his stuff like usual.
Good to see you here. Tell BBG I said "hi."
-
I'm guessing you'll get an idea of what they look like when the Force Unleashed video game comes out. It takes place between Ep III and IV.
-
Scott, welcome. Please use the "search" box and look through the various threads on the various helmets. There is no definitive answer to which is best or most accurate. You need to find the facts and judge for yourself.

Well if it isn't my Rose Parade roommate. How's the Brown Bomber Gino doing?

Please note that per the charter, 501st will not make appearances for a fee if they are representing the 501st. I would suggest the fee you planned on paying would be made into a donation for a non-profit charity in the 501st's name. Please see the 501st's main page to request an appearance: http://www.501st.com/request.php
Now if someone who has Stormtrooper armor does this on their own, well there's kind of a grey area there, but that's between the individual and Lucasfilm, Ltd.'s legal team. As such, I am closing this topic as this is not something to be discussed publically.
-
Look buddy, use Google. It has all the answers to these types of questions.
Well said, Troy. 221, I already explained to you that this site is for assisting people with their Stormtrooper projects. I googled "stop motion animation" and it produced 2.3 million results. Maybe you should begin there.

I say fiberglass because more than likely it's a poorly done recast or a complete fan scult of some sort. There's no standardization in those sorts of things and could be hell to get together.
Speakers...in the helmet or voice amp?
in Hard Armor (General Discussion)

I plan pn putting it beind the aerators on the inside as the mic is pretty much right behind the speakers.
