An accurate family tree is a great idea, perfect for this thread.

Now please don't take this as doubt or criticism(this thread is all about facts) but are you sure that wasn't the Don Post statue? They sold in Sharper Image and stores like it.
I vaguely remember walking around in a mall somewhere and seeing full stormtrooper armor on a mannequin in a Sharper Image store, and then found it listed in their online catalog, but I don't remember the year. (Don't ask me how many times I circled back to the store to get a glimpse of that armor!) -

This is one from a Toy Shop archive.

Anyway...
Marco armor was the first replica made, I believe coming out in the early 90s. Working from an ad from 1994, they were $1500 and advertised for sale in Toy Shop, where most collectors of the time got anything. There was a fair amount of costume selling in Toy Shop, including horrendous biker scout armor and TIE/AT-AT driver helmets.
For the origin of the TE molds, I'm going to ask Dan for the story.

Sounds like a plan. I will include Dan and Matt in the collaboration to make sure as much history as is available is documented properly.

Sure! I'm always wanting to see things hammered out 100%, I'll take it on if that's cool.

I respectfully disagree.
Daetrin is correct.
The pedigree is simple, and I thought quite well known.
TE1-only suit made from molds taken off a real suit; an ROTJ. Still is to this day.
GF, helmets and parts taken from TE1, but heavily modified, some would say WAY too much.
TE2-Modified ROTJ using tour suit parts as reference and new parts. I know the sculptor that did all the work and revision, so I'm more than sure on that count.
I personally don't know much about AP, but it sure as shooting isn't part of the TE2 background.

I'm afraid your comment about TE2 being FROM a GF is inaccurate. GF came from TE1 molds and was changed drastically. Your molds were not part of the equation.
If I haven't stated my official opinion on the winner between these two (not including my stuff) here it is. -
No need to laugh, we did that enough Really impressive work Wyatt, you got done what would take me months to even design. Where does the motivation come from, that's what I need to know
I can hear the lol in that post joeyYeah, joey can bear witness to my disaster with plaster moulds. It was an all around cluster in the basement. I found some text books on line and crammed as though it were finals. I knew the basics from being around a plastic shop, but I found a nice trouble shooting guide. OMG I LOVE GOOGLE

Comiccon hooooooooooooooooo! Can't wait, thanks for the tip!

Who asked about the person providing the armor, jeremy? NO ONE.
They asked about the armor. Which is better was the ONLY question. Armor, not your personal gripes against people you don't like.
Do...you...under...stand?

Like I said before, just make sure youre buying your armour from someone who's going to deliver it WHEN you're expecting it and that its going to be up to the rigours of trooping. If you think there's a doubt concerning the vendor you're interested in - dont use him! There are plenty of providers out there - chooose one that will be right for you. -
This coming Con will be my first, working on a brand new armor project right now for it, $55? That's it?
-
Wyatt is a fast learner, that's for sure Nice looking molds!
-
Maybe so, although being sued is not the same as being found guilty of anything.
"False advertising."
-
My advice......
2) Buy from someone you KNOW will deliver in a timely manner. I've heard just too many stories from certain people who take months and months and months to deliver the full suit. Excuses like "I'm ill, I need to take time out, my dog ate my moulds"
...being sued, am telling fibs...

I gave TE some stuff for a home theater, free for me, and he forced a suit on me
Edit: I know that's not much of a story, but it's kind of like the action of a dry mop; until it gets a little damp it doesn't work. I hadn't much interest in getting a suit despite having known Matt for a couple of years. If he hadn't offered me one, I probably still wouldn't have one. I thought it was cool as hell that he made armor and helmets, just didn't have an urge to own any. Then a con was coming up in the area back in 2002, and the thought of sporting new armor became intriguing. So I bought strapping and the various stuff, got a blaster, picked the holster off my earlier RG outfit and used it, etc. One night of fitting and beer and BOOM!:
Got the gloves the day of the con, met some of the guys there, but learned that hotel security was being a pack of psychos and shut down anyone with guns and most with masks....
Well that didn't work out so well, but trooping the day of the Sci-Fi Museum's opening after the rest of the costumes had left was awesome Got my pic taken a dozen times before being told we couldn't do that.
Can't go back now.

Yeah Andrew is a really nice guy and his suits are really good and as far as Im aware it's the only screen accurate suit you can buy ready assembled.
It's a cleaned up ROTJ suit. It's not screen accurate.
Is this thing on?

One of the indulgent joys to owning an AA/SDS is the cache it offers. When I show friends the armour, it's wonderful to just be able to succintly say that it's made by the guy who made the originals.
FORMED the parts for the originals, yes

thanks for your reply, i see that the shep is looking good, i could also buy it in parts with them as i cant afford it all in one go.
i would like to hear from troopermaster first though.
As the shep is a recast of TE's ROTJ suit, I would also advise another maker.

The maker of the original costumes for ANH

Helper on the original costumes. Vaccum forming work, possibly painting. That's it.

Doing parts kits lately, anyone else need shoulders?

Sure you weren't thinking of poly carbonate? That IS formable.

With massive misinformation, AA plugs and further spread of his ever increasingly false statements, no mention of the source of all ANH helmet replicas(TE, if you forgot) and without the pics of the 7 ANH suits. I'm blown away.
I've also seen these pictures before...it's called Google. Not what I would call exclusive.
Oh please, can't I pay YOU for such a completely uninformative site?
