  1. A bump for event updates!

Noted Star Wars collectibles author and Star Wars prop/costume collector Gus Lopez will be signing his new book on toy prototypes at Play N Trade, and Amy S will bring her awesome R2-D2 unit for pictures with the kiddies...AKA us :D Along with the film short premiere, it's going to be a great night of Star Wars! Play N Trade of Kirkland, The Force Unleashed 2 release, October 26th!

    See you there,

    J

  2. TacPro Studios has a new Star Wars fanfilm in the final stage of editing. It will premiere the night of October 26th at the Kirkland, WA branch of Play N Trade as part of the celebration of The Force Unleashed 2: the video game's release. As part of a specialized group of exhibitions including a local R2 unit, Gus Lopez signing his new collector's book, and the sale of the game; Star Wars Moments: Night On The Town will show for the first time in public.

Power should be denied to those that seek it. What happens when a pair of ruthless stormtroopers bump heads with the wrong people? That question will be answered in the film!

The short film was made by fans and costumers in the sleek artistic plaza of downtown Tacoma, WA. It is the second short film from TacPro Studios, and head and shoulders a superior tale and execution. We are proud of the work done and had a great time doing it. The facebook page for the Star Wars Moments series is here: Star Wars Moments Series

Stormtrooper suits doing what they were meant for, and the battle of good V evil rages on!

  3. Garbage?

All I did was explain my side of the deal and asked as you know Matt, could you mention my concerns about not receiving what I payed for. If you couldn't do it then a simple reply of "I don't want to get involved" would have been fine with me. It's just that it's been so long I'm afraid I'm never going to see my goods.

If you could have helped great, but if not no worries.

I'm sorry that this is going on at all, that it is is clear indication that Matt doesn't listen to me.

  4. This is the letter I sent to JumipnJax THat I got no reply from. I thought as he was Matt best mate he might pass it on. I now think this might be Matt?

Uh, hi. I will not be replying to anyone demanding that I brace Matt for items not received. I tried with Caleb and got his suit sent, but that was a 90 mile uphill battle; I was f*&@^%#$ exhausted. It is Matt's responsibility and his alone. I won't make excuses for him but am NOT going to take garbage aimed at him either.

  5. Jason, I have no idea about your transaction. None. So I have no opinion about it. I refer to some annoying man who flew in from the far side of the country and threw quite a bit of weight around that he did not have, and that doesn't sound like you.

Yep, jez, people have every right to complain, and I rationalize nothing about Matt's reaction, just try to explain it while taking the lumps that come with association. And as the man waiting two years is still having dialog that hasn't given way to officious demands, no he isn't a dink :D He also needed to wait until a new set of molds was available, so that one I'd write up as a long haul deal, unfortunately; but that will end favorably.

Just don't assume that Matt's flighty timetable excuses rude customers, which we ALL have from time to time, they deserve every bit the same critique. There is no excuse for being a jerk, from either side.

  6. Those things are true, no doubt about it. But much like the hero status arguments about David Prowse's contribution, it is overstated to imply that the man who got the job was the only one that could DO the job.

Forming the suits was a manufacturing step in the process, like any particular job on an assembly line. The sculptors are the only people I'd give the status of being indispensable, not the guy that pushed the button. A different former would not increase or detract from the affection for the costume, which was stated in the post I responded to. If it hadn't been AA it would have been somebody else with the same molds and same shapes. If it hadn't been Muir and Moore, etc, that shape and end result would have been different; that's the step where the interest changes for us, not the last one. You don't thank steel workers for the lines of an Aston-Martin, you thank the guys with the pen and the clay.

  7. Well I was hoping it wouldn't have to happen, but it's happening because it has to.

I'm selling MY ROTJ styrene suit with the ABS helmet:

The suit will be shipped completely built and ready to wear:

mic tips, armor trim, frown, decals, the whole 9 yards!

Just to seal the deal, I will include #1 of my vac blaster kits with T-tracks!

To say this suit is rare is an understatement, you will be the envy of most any group. I doubt you'll see one of these for sale often, if at all.

Asking $999, USA shipping is included, actual cost for international. Serious inquires only please, thanks.

    OR

will sell the armor kit with finished helmet for $800.

  8. Thanks Joey for your post. People either love him or hate him.

I'm certain that everyone concerned knows where I stand... ;)

The difference you speak of is the fact that "he is The Master".

    T :salute:

ePS: Could you ask him about MY helmet...

    You got it Tony ;)

    That banner kills me, btw.

Darth Finger, a year and seven months ago Matt didn't have any molds, what kind of suit do you mean? I asked, he doesn't recall a transaction and reminded me that he wasn't making suits til the rotj run, (sold te2 molds almost 3 years ago)drop him a line to let him know.

  9. I'm one of Matt's best friends, and I won't bother denying how hot headed the guy is, how fast a pushy client gets him peeved(online OR in person, and that guy was really being a dink), how fast he gets behind and can't seem to catch up, and I can't count the times I've told him to chill out in forums and stop writing emails angry <_<

I also know that many people that choose to deal with him send their money, then wait without any prodding are treated very well(not saying that's ok, but there it is) and seen him return money when pushed too hard and tell that person to go F themselves.

    Sigh..........

I've also learned that this is why artists and companies of any kind have marketing departments, customer service representatives and spokespeople: makers tend to be extremely cranky. I should know, I am. I just have a bit more control and some hesitance about starting a conflict.

I also know that when you play it nice, two out of five times people will start taking advantage in business. People tell you what they feel like paying and call you a crook because you won't negotiate. I can't count the times when Matt told me about some guy riding his case about upgrading materials, pushing forward the deadline, and generally being a jerk and refusing to pay another cent for the trouble. Many of those he provided and never took their business again, some he knew he would always have to deal with to stay afloat.

I learned a lot from him, more than I imagine most makers would waste on a rookie, and I owe him debts greater than money. The goal has always been a decent job, good health, and a happy home life. I've seen all three take an epic beating over the last 10 years I've known him, I've seen him soldier on, I've seen him quit time after time because he thought, just for a moment, that he was set and could walk away, then someone crappy happened and it was his only fallback. It may seem a joke to most that he keeps coming back, but I wasn't laughing.

I'll ask about the delayed suits, as I try to keep his biz moving and customers happy. I've played go-between more times than I care to recall :P

But for the record, as the TE2 molds are the same ones he used before TE2 became XXXX, I can't see where a difference would occur. But that's me B)

  10. I'm talking about widening the offer to render the recast products unappealing, since the recasters here are the problem.

If I want an armor but I don't want to spend too much, I'd rather buy cheaper 2nd quality product from the main armourer than a recast from an unknown guy.

We have TE2 and ATA that are a clear example of that. But they could be the same person :)

I'm not talking about lowering prices for the good stuff, but add 2nd quality stuff to the offer to avoid losing potential clients in favour of the recasters.

Offer both, not just one or the other. Two levels of product, but with the same quality and effort.

That is true; making recasting a waste of effort is the only way I can think of knocking them down a peg: spend the cash, cast it, then be unable to sell it because a better known and respected seller still owns the market.

  11. But in an English court of law they are! The license only last 15 years as it is industrial design.

Don't forget what is law in the States is very different to law in the UK.

Things were said by AA that shouldn't have been said granted, but it doesn't change the law and that is all GL and AA have on their side.

To pass judgment on someone from what you have read is ignorant so don't go there.........

And to just add that without AA none of you would be wearing that armor you are now....

Considering they would have just gone to another vac-former or made the mind boggling effort to to make their own equipment(after all the rest of the work done in the film, it doesn't even seem like a big deal), I don't see how he could have crippled the works in the slightest.

And he LOST in the USA, so the law will suffice. He took on a financial superpower with complete impudence with no contract, no backing, no real money, and yes, that IS stupid.
