  1. Matt's claims are baseless and without a shred of proof. You will not post proof, because you do not have it. If we all listened to you, we would all be painting our helmets with white latex house paint.
  2. Actually, with respect, I don't agree with all of Jez's assessments. Most of what he said is on the money, however.... The degree of texture and height of bumps vary as well as vary due ONLY to the sharpness of the pull. But it is there on every helmet. It might not appear so because of a softer pull but it definitely is because of the mold. In fact, they have to be. The question has still not been answered correctly. Those were nicely thought out logical theorys, but not the reason why. I still don't believe that anyone will answer correctly as it is a very difficult and technical question. If people are bored with it, feel free to skip it and have someone ask another question. For the meantime, let it serve as the "sword in the stone" to see who can come up with the right answer.
  3. My intention was not to start a fight. I truly wanted to guage other "experts" knowledge to see if anyone else knew as well. Matt does not know, and even if he did (which I'm sure he doesn't) I don't believe he would share it here anyway. Kind of the pot calling the kettle black eh? Prove me wrong. Either be a fellow "hoarder" (hypocrite), or answer the question...if you can. Waiting.... ...... ....... This whole thing was meant to be fun spirited anyway. Now certain people are getting touchy as their so called expert knowledge is showing it's not as expert as they'd like people to believe. For those interested in this topic, keep going. Those who are bored with it, quit complaining and look at some other thread. No one is forcing you. A lot of other people are interested to see just what "experts" know...or don't know.
  4. Good guess and well thought out, but not in the ballpark.
  5. Nope & nope.
  6. Nope.
  7. Sorry if it seemed like baiting. This is a trivia thread, so I won't be giving away the answer unless someone gets it right, which I said from the beginning, I doubt anyone will. Just wanting to put people's knowledge to the test.
  8. That's not why.
  9. Chris, you are right about no one caring about the texture with them being background helmets. Yes I know why it's there. Doesn't have anything to do with the sticking of the paint. None of those other guys you mentioned will know the anwser.
  10. I don't think you understood the question. The ESB helmets were just repainted ANH helmets. ALL the helmets in ANH and ESB (minus the 6 hero helmets) had a very specific bump/texture pattern on the cap/back section that is found on every helmet in the exact same orientation and configuration. Yes the bumps/texture was part of the original mold. The question is why? I say you're not really a trooper expert unless you know the answer.
  11. Of course the mold had them...but why?
  12. I have a question that I'm certain that no one knows the answers to, including the other supposed trooper experts. Why does the cap/back on the film used ANH/ESB helmets have the bumps and texture pattern in the same place, in the exact configuration on every helmet?
