  1. Alright great, thanks everyone, gonna do a test paint on a cardboard clone helmet I made a while back which I coated with resin and spackle and sanded down before I move onto my R1TK helmet so I can get some practice in
  2. Thanks, is there a difference or does it not really matter? SCA does one of each so unsure
  3. yeah as much as I would love to cash out on premium quality stuff I don't have the money for it and currently I'm trying to save money for the armor set itself so ill make do with the budget options
  4. Great, I really need the black and white, as for grey do i just stay with rust oleum as SCA dont do a grey? and is the white gloss or flat?
  5. Would you recommend these acrylic paints over the rustoleum 2x ultracover primer paints? I am able to get these at bunnings (rustoleum)
  6. already got some epoxy resin to coat the inside in, not sure how I'm gonna go doing the whole eye thing (as in what I'm aiming for), ive already gone and filled the holes and bumps with putty and sanded it down and repeated. still stuck on a filler primer, the rustoleum one shown to be used is not sold around here so any suggestions on subs?
  7. Helmet finally arrived!! very excited, already bought a few paints, however aus doesnt seem to have rust oleum filler primer, any suggestions on substitutes?
  8. Thanks Justin, appreciate the effort you put into the guide, will be following it extensively! Will post progress on thread too!
  9. I also did consider getting a BS helmet but decided against it as I would like the option to move to higher levels without replacing the whole helmet, as for Jim or Nico, from what I've heard Nico's 3d print files are the most accurate ones out there however I do like how Jim sells the helmet "made" and that its made of fiberglass (I think?) and it is also quite accurate too (his armor and helmet are used as examples for the CRL) but the choice is entirely up to you from there, I'm happy to share my opinions of Jim's helmet once I've started working on it !
  10. Yeah I read all the way through it and @11b30b4's build thread too, I currently just have the helmet (which I will just have for a while) and just want to know what materials and paint colors/types ill need and a sort of basic rundown what I should do
  11. Hi all, starting off my very first build with the helmet of course! After a lot of research and help from people here finally was able to pick out Jim's fiberglass helmet and buy it. Just wondering from people who have bought and used the helmet "kit" from him what suggestions you have and from everyone else, what stuff would I need and what would I need to do for a L1 approval (and mods in future for higher level approval and centurion). This is my first time doing anything like this so any help or support whatsoever would be greatly appreciated!
  12. Very impressive build! I myself and considering starting my very first build using that same kit from Jim, of course however since I am quite young and my funds are quite low I am just starting with the helmet which I have ordered (very excited), I saw how much work you did on your helmet, it seemed a bit overwhelming, if I wanted basic approval would I have to do all you did?
