  1. I plan on keeping the roll of white gaffers tape on troops. Quick in the moment fixes.
  2. I've used Rob's tuts, also Ritchie StormTrooper and Cableguy's videos. When I was still stuck I took many many pictures and asked here and it was made crystal clear my course I needed to take.
  3. So I do have a question. I've been told to also throw a coverstrip down the inside (as flexing to put these on causes stress) I mean, down the road should I ever need to pull apart to expand the joint (if I get fat) won't that cause a problem with that? I mean is it superflous? Is this widely done? I guess it's an opinion.
  4. I know it looks reverse, but with RS, I guess they only have one set of shins, just copied. The only difference will be the trimming of the lower portion. I think I'm correct in this.
  5. The Left Shin. I emailed Rob at RS Propmasters last night and he responded: 'Let me check. I’ll also ship another set Fedex tomorrow, which will be fully tracked. Sorry for the delay. The pandemic+Holidays+Brexit is causing havoc with the mail systems here! Fedex will cure this. Regards, Rob ' So, needing those front cover strips before I can hope to cut/fit the back. Working on the Right Shin later on tonight. So, hopefully my cover strip material is on it's way somewhere between Stockport, England, the Atlantic Ocean and Ohio.
  6. I got the one side all sliced up, gonna run some lines around the tops for the leg, maybe throw on the undersuit. Not going to fit it completely until I get some coverstrips. Just taping for now after I sand everything down.
  7. 25mm in the front? My plan was 20mm. With 25's in the back off to one side. I brought over that cut graphic. Thanks for keeping me straight on the cuts.
  8. Thanks man. Glad I waited.
  9. Pretty sure I'm not the first to come across this problem. I meant to begin drawing out my cut marks for the RS Shins when I came across this very crooked/off. So kinda a dillema on where the accurate line to cut should be. the 10mm edge or...one mark at the bottom and just follow a straight line up. It just looks wonky. Without cutting anything I stopped. Hope I described this adequately. This is the other half. No problems. Here's the troublemaker below: Am I even doing this right? I am not clear on where to cut.
  10. Alright I'm stuck. Started some work on the Shins. Specifically the Left of the RS Propmasters. So I came across a peculiarity. The one half is fine, I'll go ahead and trim the 10mm inside edge. However on it's mating piece, the whole edge is off. Swinging wildly inward rather than a straight line. I am not sure which line is accurate. At first I just did a 10mm measure and went as staright up the rest of it as I could. However on a couple of sites I've checked out, I'm told to make one mark and just go straight up to the top. A picture is worth a thousand words so basically: Stymied which cut to go with?
  11. I'm not really sure, I mean I've been waiting for quite a while for the coverstrip material. Said he shipped it before Christmas. Still not here. So something is going on.
  12. Agreed. I watched Cableguys' video and there was no static burst with the Aker. I know enough about the Aker/Icomm setup. But I wasn't aware the Tramp was one unit alone. I don't care much for it's static burst sound, it seems muffled/mute add to that it's around $256. But I mean it's nice it's just one unit. I mean it does have it's good points in that you could probably run the Stormtrooper chatter maybe at the same time as your mic.
  13. Ok, was wondering why I didn't hear any static burst on the Aker. Because the Tramp has everything buit in and the Icomm requires the Aker or vice versa?
  14. LOL I can see that happening.
  15. Yea I saw some mention of a low profile, light weight mic on their site too. I am not much of a running a cable down my arm push to talk guy. But it's gonna suck when I cough.
  16. I will and probably already have taken a look at the Tramp, but I wanna be sure and watch yours. I think last I checked it out, there was something with the static burst. It was like I think only 1 sound sample but maybe that's just a preselect thing. Noticing it's a bit more pricey.
  17. Right. Last I checked it's pretty tight in that lid. Yea chestplate seems like a good solution as I've seen the inside of many chestplates with the straps and velcro x 2 (Aker Amp and Icomm). I'm considering adding TroopaCoola in the helmet later. I think it'd be too tight in there for both. Not sure how some get 2 fans in there AND the icomm AND their head. Ok. gots my cart prepped. Going to check out. Another time for the Troopacoola. I've seen many struggle with just getting the mic situated. Best solution I've seen is put it in your mouth as your putting on the helmet.
  18. Ah sorry, Sometimes I get so far ahead of myself I forget.
  19. Fixed; the Right thigh knee joint was not correct. Temp adhered with Gaffers tape awaiting cover strips. Thanks Cableguy for the heads up.
  20. Thanks gmrhodes. Is that the key advantage or difference with it and the 1505? I mean other than the wattage (audio loudness?). Just trying to make the most informed purchase before pulling any triggers.
  21. Question on the side. Planning on adding an icomm and a fan or two if I have helmet room. Which is better; the Aker 1505 or 1506? I'm thinking the 1505 but I've never owned one. Advice?
  22. Hiya Lupus! I've had so many issues, which particular kidney and front piece issue was that? My substantial gap between the two? That's gonna take some time to remedy yet. Beginning to feel the original Stormtroopers were 17 year olds. Yea I did 12mm lines on either side of the front edjes of the thighs to allow myself sanding and fitting material with the hope it would be pretty darn close to 20mm when both halves put together. Yea the backside scares me. I did a wonky test fit on the left thigh and wow am I ever glad I didn't cut to Rob's 'typical' stormtrooper legs and measurements. I didn't have any tape securing them at the back, but it seemed like I might JUST have enough to trim to fit. I plan on a more accurate rear measurement and trim after I can get cover strips on the fronts. DO NOT cut to original measurements. You have to cut them to fit YOU. I am moving on to the shin trimming. The backsides (fitting to my body) scares me. It almost seems you need a second person to mark it (that knows what they're doing). First step is to nail the front and apply the coverstrips. I can't do that yet even though I probably need to go yell at Propmasters yet a 5th time for coverstrip material. Like WTH? I mean I didn't foresee shipping being an issue. If so I'd have asked a Tracking number. Do they do Tracking numbers in England? Maybe IT IS lost in the mail. I have no idea.
  23. Hi Cableguy! Thanks for that. It looks like I've got my inner right thigh pulled down to far. I'll need to pull the inner gaffers tape and readjust it UPWARDS. I'll take care of that today and reshoot.
  24. My Undersuit JUST arrived today and I am both shamed and surprised it fits me so well. XL. No photos. Body shaming. :S I mean I got the initial trimming on the thighs, but the back sizing is a mystery to me. I am going to do the same with the shins here in the next couple evenings. I've seen peeps apply that inner strip and I was scratching my head over it. I guess I have to put those silly elastics on the back of the shins. I plan on using velcro in the end. But I think by CRL I have to use those elastics. It'd help me so much if there were someone in Ohio that does finish fitting. I do alot of bicycling for aerobic and weight dropping, so my legs are pretty toned. I'm afraid of removing too much. Thanks for the kudos on the ab buttons. Man, those were so awful to paint! Well - I don't have a stellar history on painting. Templates and masking tape for everything practically.
  25. Ok, so thigh night. Trimmed, sanded and used Gaffers tape to attach both halves of the right thigh. Unable to really go further with this without the 20mm cover strip. I've mentioned this on many occasions. Until I can get the cover strip on the front I really can't trim the back to size. Went as far as I could on the right Thigh. Now on to the Left. Examined both halves and just WOW, was this initial trim by RS really CLOSE, and you'll notice the mold or pull is just a bit off. But apparently that's normal as I rewatched the tutorial vid on the left thigh and his thigh has this same discrepancy. So, I'm drawing my cut lines. Again about 12mm either side. That gives me room from sanding and the like. Optimally they should really be 10mm. I'm not rightly understanding why this curve exists. But working with it. Sanded, and used Gaffers tape. Tried a bit of a fit, but unable to really mark anything until front cover strip. I need a better idea on fitting these from the back. I'll be looking that up.
