Hi all,
I started this post last week but getting ready for my first and second troop last weekend I forgot about my post.
if I knew how easy it was to build the ANH TK I would have started it sooner, but watching YouTube builds and looking up build threads on the FISD made the whole build much easier. The other great resource that I used was to look at the other RS approved centurion applications, this helped to get an idea of what is a common problem and how to build an accurate set of armour with photo references.
I did learn the hard way during my build to avoid bar heaters, I melted a shin when taking a photo mainly because I was standing too close to the heater.
I would like to thank everyone that commented during my build, pre approval and EIB applications but I would like to say a special thanks to my family especially my wife for giving up the dinner table for me to build my kit on.

Hi all,
I attended my very first troop with the SCG last weekend 16/17 February 2018 at the Sydney Symphony Orchestras screening of ANH.
Date: 16th February 2018
Location: Sydney international convention centre darling harbour
Climate: 25 to 27celsius slightly humid but a cool breeze settled later in the night.
I had wrangled at the opening to the last Jedi so I thought that I had some idea of what to expect. How wrong was I.
We arrived at the international convention centre at darling harbour around 1700hrs for an induction and soon after kitted up to address the growing crowd. I must say that I was extremely nervous kitting up for the first time not knowing what was going to happen next. Originally I was selected as a cast member but I think I got canned because of my height against the other troopers. In saying that the cast troopers went inside the building and the rest of us were located outside for a meet and greet.
I’m not sure of the total attendance but let’s say the centre was almost full and I think the seating capacity is around the 8500 mark.
so after a short walk from the green room we made it to the entrance area to the ICC/ greeting area. After a few photos I was asked if I could attend the VIP room where I later found out that the person that had their photo with me was the CEO of the ICC, that’s pretty cool.
After returning to the greeting area more photos were taken but I had a rookie gear failure, my helmet batteries ran out oops. All fogged up and not being able to see anything, I think I still posed for 10 or more photos as I didn’t want to break character. Not long after I fogged up one of the wranglers spotted that I needed help and led me away back to the green room for a quick reset (Genevieve thanks for rescuing me I owe you big time).
we both returned to the greeting area only to be greeted by a massive onslaught of patrons that had arrived in a very short time.

(I don’t know who took this photo) I’m the storm trooper in the middle.
After 2 1/2 hours of greeting and photos we retired to the green room to de kit and get ready to see the screening of ANH with the orchestra playing the sound track. To say it was awesome would insult the entire event it was above and beyond what I expected.
i can’t describe how fantastic the experience was for me but let’s say that the imperial bug bit me and I can’t wait until the next troop.

That’s “Awesome”, thanks for your time Tony and Andrew in assessing my kit and my only regret is that I didn’t get involved with the 501st sooner. I actually updated the details at the top and didn’t see the EIB approval at first.
The whole journey so far from build to pre approval, garrison approval to EIB has been exciting and a huge learning curve where I have learnt new skills and found a group of awesome people with the same interest.
I would like like to thank everyone that’s provided build advice and support along the way as I couldn’t have done it without their help.
”800” what an awesome trooper number to have I actually can’t believe I made it to EIB considering 12 months ago I was thinking what have I got myself into.
Thanks again and see you all on the dark side

Hi Tony and Andrew,
i have added my 501st profile link twice as it came up with a different number in the URL.
Please let let me know if it doesn’t work or if it’s ok.
Thanks for your time

Hi Ian,
thanks for that, no one can tell you how much time and effort goes into these kits until you do it for yourself.
To be 100% honest the whole kit is far more comfortable with the belt down low, all I did for the EIB application was tighten the belt up which raised it so it looks like all of the approved EIB applications of past. If I wear the belt up higher and if I tighten it up it pushes the return edge of the top of the butt plate and bottom of the kidney plate into my spine.

Great job, Matt. Looks like a good fit on you. (Great job on the shims, btw). :-)
Just a little thing I’d mention. Based on previous applications, you might be asked about the following:
• reasonably big gap at wrist end of forearm - could possibly lower biceps a tad to drop the arms and even the gaps.
Easy change if needed. :-)
Superb build, Matt. Can’t see you having any trouble getting through EIB - then on to Centurion.
Best wishes,
Dan

Hi Dan,
I made some adjustments to the arms and reduced the wrist/ forearm /elbow/ bicep gap. I updated the photos to show this and I think it looks much better.

Hi Stephen,
it took 11 months and there were ups and downs like yours but it was awesome to get the TK ID. I was lucky enough to get my birth date 11 August 1974 ie 11874.
But I tell you this iPad is just about killing me when it comes to attaching photos.
I did manage o take all of the required photos for centurion so fingers crossed it’s just a quick fix or hopefully nothing at all.

Hi Q,
I’m struggling with bad internet connection and my iPad just turned off and I lost all my photos, I’m just re-adding them now. I had to download another app to use the Flickr URL because my iPad wouldn’t copy the link, I’m not sure if there is a solution?
Hey Stephen,
thanks for for that but I have it right next to me with multiple checks because I have had to add the photos twice.
i should have them all done soon fingers crossed.

Hi, I would like to have my kit assessed for EIB status, thanks in advance for your time.
i think I have all the correct photos as per the check sheet, but I have had issues getting the larger size photos. Please let me know if these will be ok as I only have an iPad which is not cooperating with Flickr and photobucket.

Thanks everyone, I will end this thread by saying that since my adjustment to the torso by adding the extra strap my kit is so much more comfortable and the belt is an accessory not something holding the kit together.
Thanks for all the comments and support now onto EIB
