  1. Awesome job so far!! I'm waaaaay behind! It doesn't help to live in an apartment in the middle of the cold season/s. My girlfriend doesn't want me sanding in our place. I'm taking notes on your progress as I may use a similar strapping system, including the magnets. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to the finished armour.
  2. True! I forgot to mention the resizing of gaskets first! I may have those done professionally as I do not have a sewing machine handy.
  3. Did an initial sanding and started cutting out the eyes and stripes from my helmet and pill boxes on the chest and biceps. What else can be cut out to be covered by gaffer tape or fabric aside from the center chest piece? Also, just curious if bubble lenses are more screen accurate than the lens that Jim provides. I'm deciding whether or not to buy bubble lenses or not. BTW, I accidentally dropped my helmet and there were a few cracks at the back of the head. I managed to fix it with some bondo but it's still uneven. So I may just bondo the whole back side and try to smoothen it out. Next step after cleaning up the holes is to start cutting up some of the pieces for resizing as they are a bit too big for me (biceps, forearms, thighs, calves, and abs... pretty much most of the pieces. ) I'm 5'9" average build so the pieces are loose.
  4. I only used the can on my TD. Maybe you can check out some of the OTTK builds. I remember seeing some posts but that was a year ago.
  5. Still haven't started as I feel a bit sick and I've been working overtime at work. But I have some questions: - Do you spray the inside of your armour? With what and what colour? I'm assuming black. -I know it's an expensive product but what do you think of using Plasti Dip for the inside parts? For sure I will use it under my helmet like I did with my Sandtrooper one.
  6. Thanks! I haven't started yet because it's a bit overwhelming! And girlfriend gets more priority! I'll start by buying the sandpaper and spot putty! Btw, I've seen your builds! Great job!
  7. I do have bondo filler. Have to get the spot putty... and more sand paper. BTW, what's the ideal start for sandpaper - general sanding (to take out the nasty fibers too) 1 person started with 220. Is 400 too fine? Places with fillers for sure I'll start with a coarse grit -120 or 220.
  8. It has begun... well, opening the box at the very least. I got the whole set which includes the gaskets and soft pouches. I already bought some accessories: -Fans from Henry's Fans -Gloves and Boots from Imperial Boots -Neck seal and Undersuit (and spare gloves) from Stormtrooperundersuit -Belt and White Pauldron from Imperial Gaskets (haven't finalized order yet, waiting for the pauldron to cure) -Metal Holster from R2Dan (still waiting it to be shipped out) -F-11D from Etsy (Have to modify it as it looks 3D printed) -Nerf SE-44c which I will repaint and use to play with the kids -Helmet Paddings from Amazon and I have some spare from my bike helmet On my list: -Heavy Artillery Vest from Anovos (what? May have to wait for ep. 9 to get it) -Spare comm system? I might just use the one on my TD as it's all velcro mounted. -F-11d hardware and decals (any suggestions?) -Armour decals (Trooperbay) -Black cloth for the cut out parts (decals are backup) Anything else I'm missing aside from the snaps, straps, glue, sandpaper, ...patience?? I only live in an apart with no room so this make take a while! Also I live in Vancouver where it rains 70% of the year!!
  9. I just got my kit so I'm keeping a close eye on your build.
  10. Great!! I already bought my fans and my Jim Kit arrives tomorrow... hopefully! Looking forward to your progress! Do you have a WIP thread here?
  11. Thanks, pare, for the reply! Most likely I'll go with a normal trooper. I'm going to check the boards how others did their helmets and find out where to get that mesh. I also bought myself a nerf pistol which I plan to repaint and hopefully place on the holster (if they would fit), so for photo ops, I can hand those to the kids.
  12. So cool! I recently cancelled my TFA kit from Anovos and ordered the TLJ kit from Jim. I also started following your (or one of your) FB pages. I don't think I'll do an executioner as I want to see first the different types of troopers in TLJ. Just curious in you can further cut into those tube stripes/vents. I'm thinking of putting the fans there. In general, is it possible to cut holes in the helmet for more air flow?

  14. Almost done with the build even if I passed my personal deadline to finish the armor last month. All what's left is attaching the shoulders to the white elastics, gluing the hand guards to the gloves, attachments for the thighs and the shin enclosure. For the shins, I may try using magnets similar to Sam Crow's shin fasteners, except I'm using elastic instead of 3D printed pieces. After I'm done, weathering and weapon builds! I have to save up to buy the backpack.
  15. Thanks! I'll probably do it the "low tech" way of using an elastic and sewing and gluing the magnet inside the elastic. Hope the magnet strength is not compromised.
  16. Hi Sam! Just curious how the magnets holding up. I'm about to do my shins and I was hoping to do something similar.
  17. I should have started this thread a few months ago when I first received the package from Walt's Trooper Factory (WTF) back in October 2016. I've been checking this forum, MEPD and the Outer Rim Garrison for tips and tutorials, not to mention contacted individuals for the accessories. I am aiming for SWAT which is the equivalent to Centurion (Level 3) for a stormtrooper. The sandtrooper I'm replicating is Davin Felth, the "Look Sir, Droids!" trooper. Even if I'm trying to base my armor like his, I still want the freedom to dress as other sandtroopers, that's why I bought 2 pauldrons and 2 blasters - E11 and DLT 19 (not pictured as they are in pieces). Here are some pictures I took including some old ones when I started my build. Now comes the questions. For SWAT do I need to put a return edge on the back pieces in order to put the pseudo strapping screws and nut? Walt's (WTF) back pieces came in as 1 part that I had to cut. This means no return edges. It would save me a lot of headache if I do not need the return edges and strapping screws for SWAT. I already placed a pencil mark if I have to bend those over. Another problem with the armor is that the right side of the ab and kidney sections do not line up. Do I have to cut and make a new return edge to line the pieces up? or can I just leave it like that? If so, where do I place the snap? Any feedback would be great!
