  1. I have MIMIC Armor on Order; at first his communication was not great and there were lots of missed target dates. Has fixed the problems by slowing down the orders taking in hiring help and taking sides jobs to help material investment. I haven't had a problem since with communication it was been night and day. I will have the first half of my armor in hand by the end of the week. Still lots of pieces yet to be received. Right now there is only one spot open and I think once MIMIC is done he will be done making armor. Which will be shame to see those molds go to waste. Doesn't seem like it has been profitable for MIMIC to take on this huge of a project.

I also have KB First Order Tie Pilot Armor on hand if it's acceptable I can comment that the armor is easy to work with. It came for me in 3 weeks everything was there and accounted for. KB has been helpful throughout the process. Even if I had questions on our FB build group I got tips from his helper on working with the armor. I'm excited to see the improvements being made and appreciate the effort put towards gets the armor correct. 2 of our members are going to be building KB kits in near future so I'm sure I'll have my hands on his kit again in near future.

I'm sorry to see that you're still getting a bit of the run around on this.  I look forward to seeing your photos once it arrives.

Not really a run around I have a tracking number just hasn't sent it yet, annoying but has been in communication the whole way. Mimic took a side gig to work on some sets or something

  3. Ugh looks like after being boxed up and a tracking label printed, my box of armor has yet to leave MIMIC's shop yet. Got a message that he took some side work to help with material cost.

Honestly a bit annoyed, I understand why he took the work this project has put him in the hole and he is committed to finishing the run which I respect but seriously cant take 30 mins or so to drop off one 10 pound box? Been watching the tracking number all week with no updates until I asked this morning

Will be glad when everything is here and I don't have to deal with this guy anymore. Great product slow turnaround

  4. No need to be quick take your time, measure twice or in some cases three times before cutting. The trooperbay videos on the old TK on youtube are super helpful as well as the PandaProps youtube channel. The techniques of working with plastic certainly carry over as well as the materials and tools used.

  5. Mimic is finishing the first half and shipping today (whatever that means across the pond) I got my message while I was asleep.

Still grinding away on my FO Pilot softgoods for that ship soon, just having some paint issues I think I'm gonna wait to paint till days that are 60 and above anytime I try to paint anywhere near 50 the paint makes a weird cracking thing

Getting close!! Did most of my straps and snaps. Had to try on the armour so I know where to put the last straps on the shoulder to the bicep pieces and where to put the velcros to attach the gaskets. Just have to finish the belt pieces and glue the "card swipe" pieces to the shins, then it's sanding and priming time!! Oh yeah, have to attach the lens to the helmet too!

Did anyone put any straps to the spats part to attach to the shins or don't need too? Also, how do I raise the shoulder bells? It sits a bit low compared to the yoke.

For the shoulder bells I've attached a few pics, These have been floating around so not mine. There are two straps for the snap that go in slots opposite of the metal tab. The pics should be helpful.

Spats I have seen Velcro for those, still debating how I'm doing mine

Hope this helps, keep up the good work trooper!

  7. Starting to get happier results. After having a meltdown and panic attack my armor is on the way soon. Should be shipping in next 3-4 days I'd estimate. Lots of members are getting parts in and we are starting to see amazing results. I suppose it was worth the wait I knew it was gonna be awhile but I suppose I was more hopeful of timelines, seems like the yoke, back and ab parts have been a big challenge to lay.

Hoping once these first halves (torso, chest, yoke, back, shoulders, butt, and cod) are shipped that rest should be smooth sailing. Still waiting on updates on the biceps, forearms, both legs all the way up (spats to the top)

From what I have seen everything is beautiful, amazing and accurate. I'm looking forward to starting my rigging soon and posting in here more often.

I'm also almost done with FO Tie Pilot so first order will be well represented from me.

  8. Jim doesn't do full commission doesn't have the time

KB I don't think would have the time either they will finish the bucket for you

The closest you'll find to close to finished is MIMIC and he is quite behind because when you over finishing to lots of people it adds a lot of time when your just one person and pulling everything. I don't think he's taking orders but he might. We had a bit of a mess with communication but I still think he's a good guy and very talented just need to understand it will take lots of time to get finished product.

IMO you'd be better off finding a kit you like the best and finding someone in the community that has built this armor before and ask if they will do it for you. Or just get up the nerve and work on it yourself piece by piece. Honestly if you set your mind to it anything is possible.

  9. I hope I get my money back, past my dispute I sent a request in PayPal. Found it odd he was using Sara Watson can't even use his real name but sneaky is that?

But yeah I'll probably go KB they are close by and KB went out of his way to PM him and promise to help me out when I get things sorted out. Good hearted dude for sure, if I had more time on Vegas trip in March I'd stop by and say hello.

  10. Looks like the prop maker MIMIC is a lying a-hole.

No armor, went to dispute my case on paypal and they closed it within a day. I doubt I'll get my money back and even worse I won't have armor.

I guess I need to start selling pieces, was hoping at the bare min I could get my money back and buy another kit from a trusted maker like Jim Tripon or KB Props etc

STAY AWAY FROM MIMIC He is a liar and thief!

  11. KB props will do finishing for you. But you get what you pay for, if your cheap and budget is tight you not going to have many options for finished

If you can find an Anovos on ebay or a 3rd party seller that would be your best bet they usually go for around 200-225USD

  12. I don't know of any smaller kits, I would warn that Anovos is still very much behind and they have yet to ship a single production model out to anyone outside of the 501st members that got Celebration kits back in 2015.

I would deff stick to an ABS Plastic Kit such as KB Props with all the mods you will have to do for your height. The fiberglass can be modded but I suspect it would be a challenge and without the right equipment to protect yourself it could be dangerous if you don't know what your doing. I'm assuming you'll have to trim the leg and arm parts down quite a bit. I'm at 5'7" and I had to trim my leg pieces on the Original TK (nonapproved) (MonCal) by quite a bit.

Good luck and hope your able to find what works best for your needs. Wish I knew exactly which build to point you to. Might help to use search bar at top right and type short trooper or something along those line and see what pops up.
