I dunno. For all I know you might have really poor cardio or be a super chicken but I bet you could have still beaten her up if nobody was watching. I kid, I kid... Wasn't like you did it on purpose. This is actually one of the things that terrifies me about trooping and what prompted me to post the question after reading about somebody else clocking some poor kid with their blaster. I think I'm going to keep mine holster.I feel visibility will always be limited, outside of trying to maximize the little we have by adjusting the padding or straps inside.
I actually stepped on/kicked a child last time I was wearing my suit. Right in front of her dad and mom . She must have been right next to me as I tried to side step. She was staring me down as she walked away, haha. I apologized of course but still, never feels good.

At my work we call those 30/30's because they either stick on for 30 minutes or 30 years, depending on the batch.Next time I go to the hardware store I'll pick up some of those cable keepers with sticky backs that you route cable ties through....

Nice fan setup BTW.

Does anybody have any tips for improving the ability to see out of one of these lids?
For example is it better to go with the hard hat liner over the padding to position the helmet at a better angle to look through the eyes? Perhaps somebody has found a better method for trimming the eyes or mounting the lenses that improve your ability to see?
I'm guess this is just the way that it is, and probably one of the many reasons we need handlers.

Here ya go: https://youtu.be/jEShdlB0opwObtaining the armor pre-trimmed was definitely worth it IMO. BTW, how picky should I be with the decals? I realized putting on stickers/decals is an art and every time I try to redo it, it looks worse! Dang bubbles...
You'll be able to get most if not all of the air bubbles out if you make/use a soap water solution before applying the decals. It will allow you to push the bubbles out and position/reposition the decal till you have it where you want it. There is a video on trooperbay that shows the process as well.
Good luck!

That is very cool Rick. Congratulations. This has been a very awesome thread to follow. I learned a lot from it. It's been a great contribution to these boards.

Got some helmet work in today. Dont bash me for the tape on the eyes. just did that to hold in place for now for the pics. prolly use velcro to hold in place.
Did you mold the lenses yourself? They look pretty good.
-
Yup. Ended up finding a local supply store. Actually more of a hardware store.
The key search terms I was missing was dark green face shield for anybody that might be in the same shoes. Looks like I was able to order a full face shield for $10. Looks like it will be fairly thick to so it should cut up and mold nicely. Thanks magni.

The resourcefulness here is amazing. You remind me of that MacGuyver-type uncle everybody talks about who built his own seven bedroom cabin carved from a single piece of wood and powered by one AA battery. This is an impressive build.

Ah, so these are required for EIB and Centurion statuses then. I'm certainly aiming for those after I get my basic approval.
Do the color of these snaps matter? Is brass okay or silver?
-
I noticed in every tutorial I see everybody drills holes through these pieces to join them at the crotch area. Is there a reason we don't use glued in snap plates like the rest of the typical strapping system? It really just seems easier from what I can see.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious here.

Nice! Where'd ya order the blaster from?Looks great!! You should have a TK ID in no time!! Next up EIB! I'm sitting in a pile of parts building my blaster right now so I can submit too!

I stuffed a piece of foam pool noodle in the tube and clamped everything tight for a few days to close the gaps up. Took the clamp off after a few days and everything stayed tight. I think there's a pic of this in my build thread somewhere.I'm having the same issue with the ears on my AM 2.0 helmet, especially the left one! The cheeks need to come out a lot.
What did you use to heat it? Heat gun? Hair dryer?
Where did you heat it at?

Can somebody point me in the direction of some quality green lenses? Has anybody found anything with some UV protection for lenses? I really can't imagine me stuffing sunglasses on inside this bucket.
Thanks!
-
Is the material a little bit more like what you'd get with sunglasses? Like they're solid enough to wipe down when they fog up?Of Course,
I got my lenses at Trooper Bay. Specifically these: https://trooperbay.com/dark-green-lens-material
Thanks for the link! Appreciate it.

Hey Raz, can I ask where you got your lenses? I just noticed the one that came with my kit is too thin for my liking.

Few questions if you've got the time?
Where'd ya get the fans? Ukswrath?
How'd you mount them? Velcro?
How do the connections to the button work? If you can point me to a tutorial, or some pics, that'd be rockin'!
Looking good! Now get on those EIB pics! (Sorry I don't have an answer to your ab button questions)

Wouldn't adding more length in your should straps allow your cod or butt plate to move a bit closer together?
-
Fine then! We'll have our own armour party! With hookers... ...and blackjack! In fact, forget the blackjack... ...and... ...and y'know what? Forget the armour party.

This was an epic thread to have my morning coffee with Aaron. I was kind of dragging my feet about how to spend my time today, but I've been seriously inspired to put in as many hours as I can this weekend working on my kit. Thanks for sharing all that, I'm really looking forward to getting out there myself.

Thanks guys! I just got some magnets today so I should be ready to start gluing these together to see how I'm doing.
If anybody is looking for me, I will be in the shower... With my forearms.
