Pyrates AP Build and Journey to The 501st
Brattie replied to Pyrates's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
A-Aron... someone else gave me the idea, but you know that massively huge build thread I have going.. the idea is in there some where.. Laugh.. I can't take credit when it was another persons idea.. I merely pass on the knowledge that has been passed to me... Great idea on the toddler sock btw! Perhaps I'll include that when I start the actual build process instead of just the ramp up and research questions. My goodness.. how long do you think my build thread will be .. it's like 20+ now with just preliminary research, questions, and build discussions!!! Laugh just keep it all movin' along A-Aron.. your stuff looks awesome! -

hey A-Aron.. I looked at the dented buckets.. I was considering it however with what I have on my plate with my TK build ahead.. I thought something easier would be a smarter bet this go around -

Alright.. so tidying up my spaces today.. and putting stuff away that I don't "need" trying to make enough room as I am going to have 2 items going at once.. yep.. I'm going to get a Jawa going as well. I think it'll give me more chances and options to do things. As for my TK.. AP is going to be sending out the buckets before the rest of the armor, so I should see my bucket fairly soon.. then I can start to "play" with the set up and take my time as the armor will be a little while after. GO ME!! I also have the blaster coming that has to be assembled... speaking of which.. I would normally use E6000 glue for this but I was informed that it will be too flexible for the blaster assembly.. sooo.. Here comes the question.. are you ready? set? alright... moving along.. All Items I am looking for must be available in Canada. What glue do you recommend for a blaster assembly? What Bondo like compound do you recommend for filling the printing "holes"? what sandpaper do you all recommend? And other than a really sharp exacto knife.. what else could or should I consider getting? Thanks in advance as always!! -

Back to your hangy things from your belt.. what about glueing in the bottom of a sock (the Toe part/ size to fit) to make a pocket and then work as a hinge as well? -

He is really cool to talk to. I was speaking with him via FB about it all before I purchased. That way I knew if I'd have any issues. It needs to be assembled and cleaned up but that gives me a project. And he offered plenty of advice on how to do things and what I should try. He had posted about the E11 Blaster in the ANOVOS build group on FB -

I have EPIC News.. I am acquiring a second BLASTER.. one that has a working stock and all sorts of fun stuff.. It is really light too!!! This Blaster was recommended through a couple friends and isn't too bad of a price. It's always good to have options!!! Christopher was so awesome to deal with as well. Answered all my questions And.. I'll get to assemble this one and sand and paint it as well so I get to do something while I wait for the BBB. He recommends a spray putty primer to help smooth it out and sand paper higher than 250. So making note of that. What glue and putty do you guys recommend for this type of work? And.. I think I'm going to start to look at a Jawa.. just have to get access to the site.. still waiting Validation or something on the kraytclan forum. -

Thanks Jason! I just need to find out how to make a JAWA costume now.. I have a good idea how to get the mask and do the lights.. I just have to sort out how to do the rest of the costume.. from what I'm hearing it can be done for fairly cheap which might serve as a good back up to my TK. found this though - http://www.tk1336.com/jawa.html http://www.kraytclan.com/forum/topic/2297-how-to-build-a-jawa-from-team-jawa/ -

yeah... I don't own a sewing machine either so it might be difficult but I thought it might be something else to look into while I still research everything else for my TK. Running out of stuff to ask and read and question etc .. Laugh.. What's the website for Jawa? Do they have something like a white armor.. looking for tips and such on that now too.. Laugh.. Pickles posted the CRL for them .. Figure it's a fun backup in case I fail miserably at my TK build and don't want to become a Sandy Traitor. Laugh. -

Hahah THanks Brad.. by the time BBB comes.. I'll have all the answers.. I have been constantly researching other threads.. asking questions here.. investigating items and options so I have a good plan in place to start with. Then.. I'll just go with the flow during the build a figure it all out -

Okay... A-Aron.. I don't plan on having Hard Hat Liner.. I have pads.. and my hair is too long for a bun.. but I could do a loose pony tail and keep it under everything else.. I just worry that might make my neck seal tight. I'll figure it out by trial and error.. or shave my head. -

The plan for the Armor Wear it and wear it well. That's about it for now. Make sure to minimize pinches - test on stairs, go to the washroom before suiting up.. and have fun... -

My Bucket Plan Alright.. here's the plan... I want to put the fuzzy side of the velcro on the inside top of my bucket. This way I can put the other velcro part on the pads and move them around until I find a really good fit that's comfy and that works. I plan on that taking a few troops etc. But at least I can easily move them around as I go. This means that much of the upper dome of the bucket will be covered in black Velcro. So .. I might as well paint it. I will use PlastiDip as it can be removed if needed. I have found the loopy side of velcro to stick in hair etc so I want to ensure that's on the things I'm putting in the bucket. I also plan on wearing a balaclava to help keep my very long hair out of the way. Side question "What do other ladies do with their hair for trooping and when in armor?" For the Comm - I don't plan on getting one right away but will most likely hang that from my neck or place on the inside of the chest plate or such. The AAS - I plan on playing with that to make it work but I have many options and will have to test to see. The fans - I want fans. I think overall it's a good idea. If I don't need them .. GREAT! but if I don't put them in and then need them.. well that would SUCK. So being cautious and plan on getting them and installing them. That's the Bucket plan so far. -

Dan, You are dead on right with what you have said. One thing at a time and try things as you go. I plan on testing each thing I plan on adding as I go. The bonus to plastidip is that it can easily be removed if necessary.. I've done the research and testing on that. The fans were recommended by others but I do plan on seeing how it goes. You make a valid point about the lenses and it was suggested to me to not "seal" them in fully and ensure there is some airflow around them to help ensure they don't fog. I want to attach them via a screw and post method so I can add spacers (washers) if needed to give more of a gap. I have numerous options I have been gathering for each item through my build thread.. we are at page 20 and I have yet to even start my build. Laugh. I plan on testing each item first before I choose what I think will work for me.. but in the end.. nothing will be glued permanently. All will be added via Velcro. Even the padding. I want to be able to clean it and work in it and for that I need to be able to move stuff. Anything requiring wiring will be a whole other ballgame. It is why I'm hesitant on putting the mics in the ears. It requires drilling holes in the bucket. That makes it permanent and I want to be absolutely sure that's how I want it first. Your point are valid.. and I plan on taking this super slow to make sure I have what best works for me. I never ignore words from others.. I always consider what is said.
