  1. My armor kit is here. To say I’m a bit overwhelmed is an understatement, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
  2. After pining over this character for nearly five years, I have finally committed to building my own set of armor. This will be my very first armored costume, so I’m quite nervous about it. Depending on who is measuring me, I am about 6’ tall (give or take an inch), so the prospect of portraying a tall character like Captain Phasma is something I am really looking forward to doing. I chose to do The Last Jedi version simply because I like the bright chrome look over the weathered version. Pieces of my costume: Helmet: Shawn Thorsson (first run, 2015) Armor Kit: KB Props (on order) Boots: Dr. Martens Flora Chelsea Boots Neck Seal: Geeky Pink’s Fabric Gaskets: Geeky Pink’s Rubber Gaskets (for EIB): ??? Belt: ??? Undersuit: ??? Cape: Sewn by me I’m still in the early stages of building this costume, so my first steps are to prepare the helmet, order everything else I need, and start on my cape. I do plan to eventually submit it for EIB status, so I am not cutting any corners along the way. This is going to be fun, I think. Terrifying, but fun.
  3. Current shipping estimate is at the exact same time we are scheduled to move overseas. This is going to get complicated.
  4. I made a bridge crew costume to hold me over until my Anovos stuff arrives. The black jumpsuits (one to wear, one to use as extra fabric for the pockets) are fairly inexpensive and easy to find, and the modifications aren't too difficult if you have a sewing machine. Add a pair of black boots, a belt, and a hat, and you have a costume that will fit in with your local group without the endless wait for Anovos. You also have the added benefit of being able to troop in a comfortable costume that doesn't require much time to put on.

  6. I'm 6'1" tall, and a female, so I'm really excited about this character. I definitely want to build her armor for myself, but obviously, I'm going to start with a standard TK first.
  7. I really wish my local Radio Shack hadn't just closed its doors permanently. What an amazing idea and build!
  8. Wow! That's a nice newsletter! Thanks to everyone who contributed.
  9. My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed the first Star Wars Mythbusters episode! I'm glad that they are making another one.
  10. Well, after seeing this thread, I went ahead and ordered my TK kit from Anovos. I'll get my Imperial Officer outfit from them this fall, and then the armor kit will arrive sometime this winter. It will be nice to have a choice about what to wear to events.
