Hi guys after being granted Centurion, a couple of you troopers asked how I did the mod on my counter so I thought I would post up the thread I did on the UKG forums for all to see here.

During the build of my resin blaster I wanted to pimp up the Hengstler counter a bit by adding the numbers on the rear and using my TK Id 6727.

I know the sticker route would have been easy but I wanted to do things a little different and below is how I got on.

I started with some leftover ABS, made a template from looking at pictures and made a rear plate and reset switch:

Next was to get rid of the moulding on the resin counter, mark and hollow out ready for the numbers to fit in:

While waiting for some parts to turn up I painted the counter up in matt black and added a thin plastic window to the plate and also drilled out the moulded screws and added brass ones:

The parts that I was waiting for turned up (had them shipped from China as im a bit of a tight wad and saved a few pounds) only downside was shipping time.

As you will see I didnt need many parts from the items I bought and pretty much butchered it all to acheive what I wanted, I took the bits needed glued them together to get the right number then cut and sanded till I got the shape I needed to fit the counter

All that was needed then was to glue the plate onto the counter over the numbers:

So this is how it has turned out, just needs a little filling around the edges and touch up on the matt black and slight weathering then its ready to attach to the bracket on the blaster:

Im sure this mod has been done before, but I hope you like my take on it thanks for looking guys :smiley-sw013:

Hey awesome build!  Did you use a crayon or something else to color the lettering white on the scope?  I read one forum saying to use a crayon and to then wipe any excess off.

  2. Full size up eh? Guess I'll be looking at size 14 boots then. Still no luck at getting a consistent dialogue with him. I guess I could skip speaking to him first and order straight from the site. It'd just make me a little more at ease to speak to 'em first like you all have been able to do.

Ah have you tried messaging him on here, he's ZhongVader...also, when's the last time you sent him an email?  If you can stay up late, try emailing later at night as that would be morning time in China...

  3. I ordered boots for myself as well as my girlfriend.  His communication was awesome.  She wears a men's size 5, which no one normally carries but he came through for us.  I ordered a size 10.  They fit but now I wonder if I shouldn't have gone 10.5.

if they don't fit, message him immediately and see if he can exchange them...you might only need to pay s/h

  4. I just did what Sam suggested and just send my previous message again. I got a short reply saying he had '421' (TK) boots in stock. That's good news since TKBoots is struggling with stock.

However, my concern isn't with stock - it's with proper fit!

I dont think I have wide feet since I never seek out special shoes and sizes.

I just want a good fit and possibly use inserts.

A personal goal of mine is to walk a 5K or some kind of charity walk / run in TK armor so getting good boots is important to me!

Glad he responded back to you!

  5. When ordering a full size up + inserts + thick socks, will that make up for the extra space in the toes?

I've given him my measurements twice but I'm still waiting for a response. It's been nearly a week since my last email to him. I won't send anymore emails until I get a response, no point in spamming his inbox.

I thought I was spamming him too...but every reply he was very nice/patient....you might honestly need to email him again just as a friendly reminder...I wouldn't even FWD your last email, just copy/paste into a new one so it shows up at the top of your convo w/him...but also, i'd think thick socks/inserts would do the trick!

  6. I would rather order a full size up and add inner soles or thick socks than get some that are too small.  Also those sorts of shoes can't have overly comfy inner soles by default can they?

not sure how comfy the inner soles are...not sure how thick either.  I originally purchased a pair of the Phantasma brand boots...unfortunately, they have a seam on the front...only good for basic approval..i ordered the MED size (10-11)..was slightly larger than 11, got the Dr. Scholl's inserts...fit nicely/snug...so I'd think if you order a full size up...either a new insert or thick socks should do the trick!

I found these boots while looking at different possibilties for boots and found these. With my (very) untrained eye it appears that these are fairly accurate, but I am wondering if these are acceptable by 501st Standards, and if they would work for working towards an EIB, or Centurion.

You'll get the accuracy/quality you want from imperialboots.com!

  8. Are they true to size or shall I order a half size up? I normally wear a 13 US in Nike Running shoes.

I'm still waiting on more steady communication to order my boots from Francois. I trust his product so I'll keep waiting for him to reply.

I usually wear size 11-12 US in Converse/Boots..I had asked him if he had US 11.5 in the TK boots to be safe w/a half-size up...he said they only did full metric numbers after sizes 11 but could find something to match me...I ended up ordering US 12s and will just use Dr Scholl's inserts if need be...but then from some of the reviews regarding their tightness...a full size up still might work out...and in terms of communication...I had to send him mltpl emails due to the time difference, but he did answer all of my questions.

  9. Is ordering through their site reliable? I came here to find out but it looks like everyone who commented ordered through PM.

Before he updated his site, they had no way to order directly from it.  Prior to me purchasing my pair...he told me to just Paypal it to him and not to use the site's store as it was still being updated.  He provided me my tracking number a few days later...my boots are en route to the US!

  10. I try to respond to every one in a timely maner during my vacation. Also Imperiaboots.com does other shoes and gloves for the SW universe, not only TKs. Orders are varied and require attention. If I have forgotten someone please shoot me an email at contact@imperialboots.com

    Thank you

    François

    Francois,

Do you know when you might have size US 11.5 back in stock for the TKs?  Thanks.
