It would be a lot of work, could it be done, I believe you could modify it enough if you put the right amount of work into it, still there would be areas that would be very hard to replicate, the public I doubt couldn't tell but could you make it close enough to pass for approval, perhaps but once again speak to your GML.

I did think about the modification myself but by time I had thought of the cost of the base helmet, the work involved (I hate sanding bondo) and what I would end up with (and I used to panel beat cars) it was just easier for me to purchase a completed one.

There are quite a few makers just about ready to put them on the market, as well as the couple who are already supplying.

Good luck what ever you decided

yeah good points...I think I'll probably just end up buying an accurate one...maybe just go with painting the black on mine for the premier if I don't get one prior...

I wouldn't either, KB Has a nice TLJ for $175 I would have picked it up already but MIMIC said he was throwing one in as well so I'll wait to go TLJ trooper or at least that's what I keep telling myself

KB Props is currently making TLJ buckets?

It’s so much more than the teeth. A lot of designers looked at if/how you could mod the standard TFA helm but it’s just not 100% achievable for accuracy.

Then again, that hasn’t bothered Anovos with their new offering!

hey Jafo, oh I know it's more than just the teeth...I know it's narrower as well...gmrhodes13 suggested using bondo if I wanna go all the way...not sure if I wanna break things apart and do that though lol

It's not just the teeth, you could change the shape of the snout and narrow down the sides of the mouth a little using bondo then repainting, if you compare the two helmets closely you can notice a few of the differences, even the new Anovos Executioner doesn't appear to have all the details of the new helmet ;).

The more accurate you can make it look the better, that being said it is your GML that will ultimately be approving your costume so at the end it is really up to him/her.

ah didn't think about bondo...yeah I know it's more than the teeth...I'm not sure if I want to mess w/the mold and then use bondo...might just do this for the premier and order Jim's for accuracy...

  5. Question...I'm currently getting ready to start making mods to my Jimmi FOTK for the Executioner.  I have a spare Anovos TFA bucket...I know the design is different now in TLJ.  After reading the Executioner CRL, my question is this...if you mod the TFA frown w/the teeth...there isn't really anything you could do regarding how narrow the new design is in the face...after speaking w/my GML he suggested asking the community here...my thoughts on how to do the teeth would be cut out abs inserts etc...my other option is to just paint my spare Anovos bucket w/the black stripe just for the premier and then order Jim's TLJ bucket...I could have ordered the Anovos Executioner...but ya know...wanted to actually receive it....before I die :)  thanks for any suggestions!

  6. so i'm almost at the point where I'd install the LEDs...my kit didn't come w/any so I'd have to order...do you have the model number of what was given to you by chance?  Also debating if i want to do the wiring, might need a buddy to help me...but at this point i have everything either primed or painted...finally got all slats cut/sized right...may need to cut some of the plexiglass strips...but pretty close to the end now!

  7. so I finally got my baton/shield yesterday...well they weren't assembled as I paid for...haha of course not!  However, I can attest the plastic is very sturdy/thick..however, since there are no instructions...i don't think anything's missing from the baton..I already saw my shield only had 2 corner posts instead of 4 and didn't have the plate/strapping for the inside.  For the baton, how many metal slats should have come w/it?  From your pics I found the model, and found them on Home Depot...no biggie if I have to buy some more I guess...but was curious...thanks for the build thread, def gonna be using it!

  8. Curious if anyone on here who's purchased Heston's F-11D rifle, if they've modded the holster plate by changing to a real metal one, or drilling into the gaps and adding screws in order to secure it to the holster itself...

I asked him if he had any suggestions and he said the plastic shouldn't splinter, but the integrity could be compromised as there is infill inside the plastic which would be drilled through...

just looking for any tips/advice, thanks!

  9. Taking about terrible customer service... I've emailed and Facebook messaged Alder (the owner), Ching and Jacob about my order and no one has replied back to me. I called their store a few times and left messages and no replies. Finally someone answered the phone and I asked about my order and the guy basically said it wasn't his problem and to talk with Adler. This guy said he was busy in a meeting and couldn't really talk to me and that he was a just a guy that worked in a kiosk. I'm waiting to see if i get any follow-up messages from Blu-bin.

I've spoken w/Jacob and Ching as well...Jacob is the fracker who "sold" me this stuff.  Messaged Alder as well...nothing...pure shucks bag.  I've even spoke w/Jacob twice on the phone...pretty much just all lies at this point.  I couldn't take it anymore and filed claims w/PayPal last week...if Blu-Bin doesn't respond to PP by 7/5...money's refunded to me.  I've since ordered a new shield from a different seller...trying to find another baton seller now...

  10. You guys are EXTREMELY fortunate you even received your purchases from them! Ordered my baton on 4/27 and the shield a week later...status says shipped, no tracking...no communication. I've since filed claims w/PayPal...too bad because I was really looking forward to the baton too...ended up ordering shield from a different seller now...

  11. You can make a third by using some scrap plastic from your build. Just cut it into a square shape of the correct size, heat it up so that it's soft, and use a disc of the needed size to press an indentation in it.

what's the best way to heat up the plastic for this?  and also by chance, you know if there's any documentation out there that would have the diameter of the circle?  I can measure the it on my Anovos belt but was curious...thanks!

  12. does anyone in this thread own both styles of boots?  I have their TK boots US 12, was trying to see if the TFA boots would fit similar...I went a size up from my normal shoe size, and the TK boots fit great w/an insole.   Also, can anyone comment on how true to size the TFA gloves are?  I know when using shooting gloves, you want to go tighter, loose isn't apt...obviously won't be shooting in these but am debating btwn medium/large...thanks.

  13. so far.... yes!

This kit saves you A LOT of time on assembly and the flexible fiberglass material is great!

Once i start strapping it all together, i'll have more of an idea of how it sits on me and what i like and dont like and what needs to be modified.

Also, I've been hearing that ANOVOS will be charging somewhere around $1500 for their kit once it gets released.

i was snooping around their FB page and noticed one of their responses about when it will be available....

Pre-Orders will probably start in a month or two, but they stated that it could take up to a year for delivery.

If you're anxious to get a FO kit now....

Jim's is the way to go IMO

yeah i heard the same thing about pre-orders starting soon....ugh, $1500...not sure if i wanna spend that much...arguably i've invested over a grand into my ANOVOS kit, but that was starting from $350 lol.  I've been reading other reviews of his armor and looking at pics...it looks amazing, and his price is def much more affordable, i'd be opting for the $780 option as I have an FO bucket by ANOVOS.  and yeah, idk if I wanna wait another year for my suit lol, waited 9 months for ANOVOS, then took a month to build it...btw, i saw some of your posts in the fbook group, haven't met you yet but we're in the same garrison!

  14. So since the soft goods are coming separate. I thought to ask how much later the shipment would come. Here is the response on Anovos FaceBook visitors page

1-2 weeks later and some customers may get soft goods before armor. My guess is later tier pre orders will get soft goods before.
