  1. So I just have some questions before I make my purchase.  I have decided to build ANH stunt and buy from RS.  My first question is what material is better? I want to go ABS but just wanted to ask around and see if maybe the PVC was better for some reason.

Second question: They have something called an Accurate Assembly Bundle that includes:

Replica Belt made by Clothears Costumes. Fabric belt made from six layers of fabric, all matched to the original belt. A very faithful replica.

Black rubber gloves with painted latex hand guards. Chemical style black gloves, with detailed finger nail and palm, with rubber latex hand guards bonded to the uppers.

Screen used style metal torso brackets, for mechanical fix with nuts and bolts. Made to the same dimensions as the brackets used on our original suit.

Elasticated strapping for torso, to allow the armour to move as the screen used suits

Bifurcated ‘split’ rivets for left hand side torso join and cod piece.

Replica ’S’ spring snaps for ‘Han Rivet’, belt, cod and shoulder closure with ’S’ Spring snap setting tools or pre set in the studio if applicable

Correct thickness and colours of elastics across the suit, black or white as required

Sewn vintage style snap fastenings for shoulder bell attachment (pre-sewn).

Bonding adhesive for limbs (Stellmax available)

Elastic closure for shins, with accurate hook pre-sewn

    Armour under belt, fully adjustable

here is a link to the site as well http://www.rspropmasters.com/product/accurate-assembly-bundle/

Just wondering if that is something worth purchasing or should I just buy everything separate?

I also want to go centurion from the start and was wondering if there are any other RS centurions out there that could give any other advice?

  2. Well.... you know what we do to double posters? Look at your profile image, yea that's right..... :laugh1: JK, not sure I got to welcome you the first time so here's number two, welcome to the FISD Matt.

Let's see if anyone else chimes in for the sake of funny ;)

    Hahaha Thank you!

  3. Hi Matt, I recently purchased my first set and soon I'll start the process of putting everything together. I would suggest Trooper Gear, it's one of the vetted venders from these forums and based in the US. I ordered mine and got it within 4 days. I posted a inventory picture so you can see everything you get, here's a link to that topic:

I want to go for Centurion from the start and noticed on the CRL it says that AM chest and back need to be replaced with more screen accurate pieces. Are you going for Centurion by any chance?

  4. Thank you all for the warm welcome and all the replies!

You can buy pre made from RS, but trust me, don't deny yourself the journey, and build it yourself, it is so much fun.

There is nothing like explaining to someone that you assembled it.

I do want to build it myself, but like I said I have no prior experience and so I will be trying to get in touch with some people near me hopefully.  Thanks!

Welcome to the club Matt. Don't be put off by the wait times from some armor makers. Use this time to gather some of the 80 components you will need to source out, in order to complete your build.
Start with your blaster, lots of options there. Tools to build. Under suit, gloves, holster, boots, neck seal.....
Waiting is a common theme while building a TK. Waiting for the post, waiting for glue to dry...
Start a build thread, ask questions and have fun with your build.

    Thank you for the advice!!

I will look into that! Is there a big difference between trooper gear and say RS?

    Hi Matt and welcome!

Regarding your question about meeting with someone to build your armor. I can suggest that you get in touch with you local garrison and join their boards. There you can meet people that live by you. There are also "armor parties" where people from the garrison meet to work on their TK.

I have registered on the so cal garrison boards and am just waiting for approval, and I will definitely look into the armor parties, thank you!

  5. Hello all,

My name is Matt and I am very new to all of this, but also very excited!! So first a little about me.  I first saw the OT when I was a child and immediately fell in love with it, and specifically the stormtroopers. Ever since, I have wanted my very own TK armor.  When I was in high school I would ask my parents if they would get me armor for christmas, as I was a child with no money, this continued every christmas for about the last 7 years to no avail. While in college I decided to do a little research and see how much armor actually cost and came across several of the sites on the DO NOT BUY list that you have up.  I will admit that I was very close to buying on several occasions, but ended finding the FISD and the 501st (thank goodness!!).  I have been lurking on here for several years now, checking on here once every six months or so when something peaked my interest not doing very much research just looking at all the shiny armor, and have recently decided that I had enough funds saved up, which was based on prices that I had seen on some of the other "no no sites".  So after reading many forums for the last week I have come to realize that what I have saved may be far more than what I actually need, which is a great thing don't get me wrong.  After all the research I have done, and believe me I know I haven't done nearly all of it, I think I am ready to make the plunge and put in an order for my first build!  I am the kind of person that asks a million questions about every little thing because I want what I am buying to be exactly what I want, so this may or may not be the place for these questions, if not please point me in the right direction as I am new to this, but I have several questions about my armor choice and want to know if you all think it is the right choice for my body build, experience building (which is none), and price range (which is very high apparently).

So I have decided that I want to build ANH stunt and was thinking of going with either TM or RS but realize they are both in the UK, I am in the US in Southern California, and was wondering a) Is it an issue sending from UK to US?

    B) I want to get the best armor I can, as I said price is not really an issue, but also don't really want to have to wait 6 months.  If that truly is the best of the best I may end up going that route and just waiting.  What are your thoughts on that and maybe even a suggestion or an alternative?  I have not contacted either of them yet so don't know actual wait times, I wanted to post first and see if there was a better way.

Another question I had was, since I have no experience building anything like this I was wondering if there was someone I could physically meet up with once I had my armor to essentially mentor me through this process? I know this is not really the right place to ask this but I just figured I would throw out a line, maybe someone near me would read this, I live in the San Gabriel Valley area of So Cal.  I have registered with the so cal garrison and am just waiting approval and will post in there once I am approved.

Last question...for now.  I want to go Centurion from the start, is that doable for someone that has never done anything like this and is a super noob at all of this?

Here are my personal specs for armor fitting.

    Height is 5'8-5'9

Waist is a 28 in jeans, which is a bit tight, and 30 for dress pants

Weight is around 127 right now but I am actually trying to bulk up a little, probably not above 135

Sorry for the ranting and all around noobiness, but I am very excited about this undertaking and please correct me if I am using the wrong jargon or not posting in the proper places.

    -Matt
