wow didnt even hear abt this mate
Andy - is a a real standup kinda guy and top notch bloke.
never for one minute did it even cross my mind that it was recast based on ur previous VOCAL views on recasting fan - made stuff.
I have Keiths mikes, never seen urs Andy - but if past performance/practise (and we are talking abt a lllooooonnnnggggg past) is any indication; I cannot believe that this part is anything more than an original fan-make.
aside from being active on clone boards - he is also our detachment armourer!!

aww man - soz to see u go too man.
I sincerely hope its only temporary and hope to catch up with you soon again mate
I have yet to make it to any troops, being more into the prop side of things. hope to still see u posting on forums though!!

www.trooperstore.de, Chimera sales, imperialarmour stormtrooper shop UK - all recasters. Depending on ur point of view - personally I believe that recasters are bad for the hobby; although not all share that sentiment.
I would hit up TM if possible for a set tbh.
alternatively, there are lots of Europe based troopers sellin up kit from time to time. You are certainly in the right place to look for one!
If u arent in a rush, wait for one of em - FS threads often come up here.
The only other 'official' armourers are US or Canadian based.

make sure its within cmd prompts when u put it in mate (img) at the start and (/img) at he end with the () being replaced with []
as an example - I have replaced the letters img with the numbers 123; when u are writing post ou go
here is a pic of my forearms [123]photobucket link[/123]

i really worry abt u Nate ;D
a ghost head too????
nice thread & find!
-
2 main says - dremel em out or like Murray said above; heat the glue that holds em into position.
I didnt have a heat gun - I just used the head from a light buld, heat it, wiggle, then heat and wiggle again. its literally just glued on.
I had a link to my MRCE mod; just search my threads for the link if u like

I really like E6000 - strong and flexible. The flexible part is key.
the only problem with it is the 24hr cure period.
plastic weld does indeed melt plastic.
I use a combination of E6000 and CA glue. The CA glue holds edges together and prevents moving whilst the E6000 cures and gives it the eventual strength.

Being that they're both in Germany, I figure they each just bought and built them.
Why would they have recasted?
think u are missing the point here mate - Mr Bungle is talkin abt the NGB maker recasting em not these 2 guys. German Garrison guys are sayin that NGB is a legit maker making accurate lids in germany
the NGB helmet share common traits with established makers helmets. Its been hinted that the NGB is an own sculpt - we are discussing and looking for proof either way
its a little confusing as the original discussion has been "sanitised" - a policy I dont completely understand. any mention recasting seems to be deleted, with relevant information deleted along with it.
-
hard to say wot its origins were - although from the pics I would agree with smitty "TE, TE2, CAP" stable
the links provided by stefan - basically showed the completed lids - not the WIP of his molds.
until its origns can be clarified - shouldnt this thread also be kept to a objective discussion rather than a load of "showoff my helmet" pics?
stefann - could I get the makers email again pls; our discussion in previous thread has been deleted.
-
congrats man!
soz never got in touch abt the FD vader - wife shut that down very quick!

only thing I guess u shouldnt mix up is the MR mini replicas with the MR CE lid. I see lots of MR 0.45 replica helmets on the Bay in UK, but pricing quickly tells u the difference
-
nice stuff Nate
always did like Andy's work - u seen his new cody?? bloody gorgeous
-
its funny how different costumes make u view differently materials
I too got involved with Fett, and a few of the new clone lids. Fibreglass as a material isnt that bad.
having said that - in Fett its only a few pieces of body armour + lid and in clones its the lids only.
I agree with all thats been said already. Too heavy. Too rigid. Too uneven an interior is a huge pain to wear.
all the current legitimate producers used ABS or HIPS. Its fair to say any TK armour made of FG is recast.
its hard tryin to explain to people outside the hobby why recasting is bad - good luck mate and good on yer for trying.
enjoy ur TM armour; it is gorgeous (just ask Nate TK9135 ;P)

Mark - good luck with sale mate
cant believe how much nice stuf u sellin off recently! Got me worried too LD
but glad to hear that I am not the only one accumulating loads of sh.... stuff i meant
nice build.
-
on my FX - I used scissors
recently on some AP armour, i started with dremelling - but wasnt happy with it
moved to a combination of score/sna[, tin snips and those small plastic cruved scissors for cutting plastic as recommended by stukatrooper:
like these----------
having said all that - Kevins CT armour is really thick 0.125 ABS IIRC
good luck tony!

I love E6000 for just abt everything

Andreas - it was never aimed at you dude, nor did I say u were making anything from this at all.
your build, time and effort to help other troopers is all well and good.
in fact this is more aimed at the original supplier - I mean we have all done it. Bought from a guy who said - I am only doing this 1 kit and thats it or only limited supply. 1 month down the line, another is available, and another etc.
I am sorry that u feel that this is personal - I can assure u man, it isnt. Am I paranoid? Am I suspicious? Yes I admit that. I have often lost out on a deal cos I question to much and ask for too much verification. But I have bought recasted goods in the past, but thanks to boards like this - I now try my hardest not to.
if its all on the up and up - great. everyone gets a good product at a good price. I have nothing against that. In fact; I have often wondered abt that, as one of the good ways to counter recasting is to bring down the price and make established helmets more available.
If indeed u are that confident abt the product - go on and sell them. You wanted to offer other troopers the benefit of ur build skills with original AP kits - thats great. If u stop or go on it makes no difference to me personally; and the only people who are losing out are the people u wanted to help in the 1st place.
Again Andreas - this isnt aimed at you man. And dont want this thread to degrade into I say/you say. All u are offering is good. All I am sayin is - check your source mate.
I wont be posting anything more on the thread itself, but will keep to comments to pm's to Andreas directly.
troop on!
Nate
