  1. Hey there! I just purchased everything needed for an Arduino blaster and just received the Arduino board in the mail today.

Thing is, I'm going for an ESB, so I won't be needing (or have the space for) the counter, ammo, reload, green LEDs or even any additional sounds other than Blast & Stun.

I want the quality of sound that Arduino delivers without the "extras"essentially.

Seeing as how I am a total novice at this, I was wondering if someone might be able to modify the code to allow for the following?:

    - On switch with sound

    - Standard E-11 blast with red LED

    - Stun blast with blue LED

    - switch (to switch between stun and blaster) sound with sound.

That's it! Any help would be greatly appreciated! All of this will be going into a Blaster build using an aluminum pipe with real Sterling parts attached.

Feel free to check out the modified code that I did for my blaster (link to my build thread is in my sig). That should cover what you are looking for.
  2. My suggestion would be to reach out to the GML to have a conversation, via phone if not in person. Try to get a feel for what is really going to nees to be corrected for basic approval versus what are suggestions for just a better looking kit.<br><br><br>

My guess is that something has been lost in translation :)<br><br><br>

Keep your chin up, the standards at the MEPD are high, but the group will help you get there.

  3. It will depend on what level of achievement you are going for, so Andrew has some solid advice. Posting this exact same question in the Hurt Locker should get you a lot more feedback.<br><br>

With that said...her are some thoughts from me...<br><br>

The left thigh is missing the notch.<br><br>

Cover strips should not be sqaured off, the corners should be clipped, creating 45 degree edges, by about 1.5mm.<br><br>

Bucket is missing the mic tips and s-trim.<br><br>

Back plate should not overlap the kidney plate.<br><br>

The rivets on the left side of your kidney/ab junction appear to be too big.<br><br>

The largest box on the ab plate should have the "washer" in the lower right corner.<br><br>

Your compression top is bunching at the elbows. Could just be how you put it on, or the size may be too big.<br><br>

    Good luck with your journey!

  4. I'm with Germain on this one. I am sure as the Anovos kits get rolled out there will be several inconsistencies that will have to be addressed and the owner will have to make their own decision on if they want to go down the path of making the required alterations to not only meet with the current CRL's, but to also achieve any higher certifications.

So much going out there about these kits, but unless I am mistaken, no one has received one yet to start documenting what will be shipped to the consumer (re: those of us in the costuming community).

  5. Build Log – 11/6/15 – EIB Repair#1

During the review of my EIB application it was discovered that I had incorrectly attached the ammo pack to the inside of my thigh. I have no idea what I was thinking when I did that, but it is wrong so it is time to get it fixed.

First up was to gather the tools for the repair. The speed rivet (or cap rivet if you prefer) must be removed so I can move the pack attachment down onto the ridge of the inner thigh. To do this, I will use a flat head screwdriver, end nipper pliers and a shop rag.

    th_Armor-203.jpg

I used the screwdriver to loosen the rivet from the inside of the thigh. This way any surface damage would be on the inside and I won’t scratch the ammo pack. Once it was loose enough to get the pliers under the cap, I used the shop rag to protect the surface and snipped off the head of the rivet. It should now be loose enough to push through the armor and release the ammo pack.

Now it was time to repair the hole. I will use scrap ABS to patch the inside of the armor, glued on with 2 part epoxy. ABS paste will then be used to patch up the hole.

    th_Armor-205.jpg

I used a small paint mixing vial to create the paste, layering on just enough pure acetone with a syringe. Stirring with the craft stick to get a nice even consistency. Add acetone as needed until all the ABS chips are dissolved. Do not over stir as this will introduce air bubbles, which will not make for a clean repair. I went for the consistency of maple syrup.

    th_Armor-206.jpg

Apply the paste to the area with the craft stick. As the ABS will shrink slightly as the acetone evaporates, layer up the mixture.

    th_Armor-207.jpg

Then wait patiently for it to dry. If you want to accelerate that process, wait at least an hour for a primary skin to form on the repair and then you can use a hair dryer on low from a distance of at least a foot to blow warm air over the repair. This will speed up the drying time.

Once dry, I used a file to sand down the repair to the surface, then progressing grits of sandpaper from 220 to 320 and finally 1000 to sand to the surface. Novus 2 and then Novus 1 was then applied to finish it off.

    th_Armor-208.jpg

It looks like I introduced some impurities into my paste, which are showing up as dark flecks. From a distance of a couple of feet though it is not noticeable, and since this is the inside of my thigh, it is highly unlikely that this little dot will ever be seen.

All that was left was to drill the position properly for the pack, attach a new speed rivet and then paint it. Repair completed, hopefully this will get me over the hump for EIB.
