  1. This is yet another build thread for the Doopydoos resin kit but my first go at building an E11. For this build I will be making a few popular modifications so I'm interested in your feedback and suggestions Instead of starting with the traditional brown box starting pic, I'll just skip straight to the good stuff! Here's what you get in a doopys full resin kit... The DD magazine leaves a lot to be desired, so I grabbed a replacement off gazmosis - Thanks Steve! To save a bunch of time trying to find all the right pieces for my modifications I grabbed an E11 completion set off T-Jay - Thanks Tino! Also a local Garrison member hooked me up with a nice reticule finishing piece for the scope - Thanks Tim! OK... so with most things gathered its time to start building!
  2. The past several weeks has been crazy for me... one crisis after another... so I haven't made much progress. But today I thought I would get back on track and what better way then to attack the bucket! Faceplate trimmed with eyes and frown Test fitting with clamps... I must have done this two dozen times! Couldn't decide if I wanted a raised eyebrow or not I eventually settled on a lowered eyebrow, I think this looks more angry... just like my face when I had a go at the ears! What do people think? Do the ears look a little big? Should make them thinner or leave as is?
  3. Here's my attempt at making the TD clips First I cut 2 x lengths (approx 10inch.. to be shortened later) and taped them together. Then I marked for holes at 1inch and 2.5inch from the end. Drilled the holes with approx 1/8inch drill bit. Next I ran some 80grit sand paper over each side. Then more sanding with some finer sand paper I cut a small length of PVC pipe which had a slightly smaller diameter than the pipe I will use for my thermal det. I did this to get a snug fit. Clips mounted and bent into shape. 99% finished product... What do you think?
  4. Lots of extra there mate. If your ab and kidney is the same - at least you wont have to do any shimming
  5. Trimming up the shin and thigh pieces now. Do many leave the return edge on down at the ankle? I've left 10mm each side for a 20mm cover strip, but haven't trimmed the back yet as I still need to do some test fittings. First thigh piece.. And started cutting out my front cover strips
  6. Been a bit time poor this week but managed to get a few more pieces trimmed today... progressing slowly but surely
  7. Thanks for the feedback guys. @ Toybiz - I think I'm going to go with elastics and snaps... seems to be what the local guys in my garrison are doing. @ Petros - I've picked up Zapagap. Although the E6000 is more forgiving, I think I read somewhere that it has a pretty strong smell that lasts?
  8. Been a hectic week but managed to find some time this afternoon for some more trimming.
  9. Thanks Steve, good to know. That link is very helpful.
  10. Cheers, mate. I think i'll go with the flat surface approach to clean these up, I don't think my hands are too steady. I've also reduced the drop boxes to 15mm. Still need to finish them off with some sanding as well.
  11. Moving onto trimming the thermal detonator end caps. Marked the pieces using the same method I used for the shoulder bells, thanks to Trooperbay videos! I've trimmed as close to where is flares out at the bottom, which left me 16-17mm.
  12. Has anyone put their drop boxes to use? I'm thinking of putting magnets inside so they might be used to carry spare batteries or something? Thoughts?
  13. Another day, more parts to trim! Is there an official ruling on how thick the drop boxes are supposed to be? One down, three to go... And done!
  14. Cheers everyone, your feedback is most welcome @Sly11 - Sadly no 501st characters @ Indooroopilly, we only had the D2L guys. Next year will be different, I will definitely have this TK in working order by then! Unless there is something wrong with me?!
  15. Had a little time up my sleeve today so some rough trimming of the biceps and shoulder bells. I'll have to work that left bicep with a hot water bath me thinks.
  16. Hey Ian, I'm in Brisbane, so I will be looking to join the ranks of the Redback Garrison once I have completed my build. I haven't decided on a strapping system yet, any recommendations here?
  17. Thanks troops. @starsaber25 - No worries Steve, I can get the left forearm on fine, its just the right is quite loose. I can trim it down a little more but don't want to loose the ridge. I have also seen others putting foam inserts inside the right forearm to hold it in place, so that might be an idea? @toybiz - Adam, I've checked out your build thread, I think I will try to bath the left bicep! Your build thread is a great reference for me. I haven't got any E6000 as I cant find it locally, so I might have to order some.
  18. According to the CRL (http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt), no return edge on the inside of the front of the forearm is allowed. Does it matter that the return edge at the back of the forearm is removed?
  19. I decided to start trimming the forearms first as they seemed the most straight forward. Mike's videos on trooperbay made me a little less nervous about cutting into my new shiny armor. The return edge has been removed. Left and Right forearms tapped together to test sizing. What I did notice is that the right forearm is noticeably larger than the left. I have read this is other threads and also checked with Mike, this is how it is with this kit.
  20. Well it's finally happening! I've been talking about doing this for years, the wife has given me the green light and now its go time! This is my first TK build and I decided to go with MTK for ANH Stunt build. Thanks to Mike, communication has been good and he shipped super quick! I had my kit in about a week from placing an order and it had to be shipped to Australia. To my fellow troopers, your comments and suggestions are most welcome as I would like to build to centurion level, so thanks in advance Now on to some pics!
