You'd have to be hardcore to wear the chem gloves summer time in Australia! Thanks Germain, good to know.

Cheers guys! The feedback gives me more motivation to work done Armed with super glue I attacked the shins today! I used 20mm cover strips on the front I'm going to cut up some more strips and put a strip inside the shins for extra strength Whilst I had the glue out, I decided to zap-a-gap my rubber hand guards to my black chemical gloves These will be put aside for when I apply for Centurion status I've got another pair of gloves (nomex) which will be my regular trooping gloves... What do most people do for attaching the plastic hand guards? Velcro to the glove? Or Elastic strapping around the hand & wrist?

TK thermal detonator is now done, finally assembled this morning after I got some 5mm pan head slotted bolts yesterday. I initially tried making my own by putting green stuff in phillips head bolts and filing out a single slot... I was about to use these but turns out there was a fasteners supply shop across the road from work this whole time.. doh! 2inch pipe Gave it a quick sand prior to first coat of paint Paint time I ended up doing a few coats, sanding lightly in between each one And here we are all assembled, with the white control panel pad facing upwards and the round washer detail closest to the right end cap. Total length is approx 7.5 inch 5mm pan head slotted bolts, painted black

Do you know what time it is? It's Zap-A-Gap time! Here are my forearms assembled, using cover strip method of course Now a top view... I ended up trimming the right forearm a little more to get it shaped more like the left forearm for consistency I posted a pic earlier showing the difference in size/shape between the biceps with the MTK kit, the left it much wider and more oval shaped. To improve on this I gave the left bicep a bath in hot water using a pvc coupling inside the bicep to form a more round shape and trimmed it down further... Here it is now, I haven't glued the left yet... It is still a little bigger and slightly oval shaped but much better I think Its coming together now Right side Left side What do people think so far? Any suggestions?

All good Steve, it didn't leave much plastic residue on the iron
-
Since I have been doing all the sewing at my place I thought I would help out with the ironing... well at least using the iron to shape some ABS Taking another page out of "Redback BIDS Book of Strapping", this time for the shoulder bells. Instead of using glue to attach elastic straps to the shoulder bell, I made up some hooks out of ABS to hold my elastic straps to the shoulder bell and will attach using snap plates. This way the elastic strap can easily be removed/replaced if required. First I cut up some strips of ABS 15mm wide I decided to use 1inch elastic and as luck would have it my handy metal ruler is 1inch wide I used an iron to heat up the plastic and then I used the ruler and shaped the plastic over the edges I then scuffed up the inside surface of my shoulder bells with sandpaper and glued my hooks and snaps plates in Here it is with the strap installed Whilst I had the iron out melting plastic, I decided to whip up some hooks for the biceps following this guide here for measurements: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/tutorials/article/37-howto-create-a-bicep-strap-hook/ I used the edge of the iron to heat on the marked lines and form an initial bend Once I had an initial bend I rolled the edge on the iron to heat up again and further bend into place Finished product

Cheers Steve. I'm hoping I'll have less of life's little interruptions over the next few weeks to finish this baby off

Thanks troops! Several members in my local Garrison have said you can't hear the velcro. So all good. @Gazmosis - I was debating with myself on how far I should paint the frown. I know reference pics show it slightly further but I also think the shorter frown look neater. Oh the decisions! Stopping short at least I can extend easily
-
Hmmm I didn't think about the noise from the velco. I'll ask a few other local garrison members about it and report back... Thanks

I've also commenced work of the webbing/strapping, more specifically the straps that joint the Back/Kidney/Butt together. For this I decided to follow fellow local garrison (Redbacks) member BIDS idea using double snaps with velcro around the snaps for extra strength. All of the velcro, nylon webbing and elastic is 50mm wide. I cut the following lengths: - Elastic 85mm - Velcro 40mm - Webbing 40mm Then melted the edges with matches To hold all pieces together initially I used a hot glue gun I glued the hook velcro to the elastic and the loop velcro to the nylon webbing Then I used a sewing machine (yes I used the sewing machine... figured it out after a few attempts ) to sew around the border and down the middle for extra strength as the hot glue by itself is not overly strong. I then made a template to help mark out where I need to put holes for the snaps and used a whiteout pen to make my marks I tried a few different ways to put holes in these things but the best by far was poking a hot soldering iron through Wacked in my snaps and hey presto!

Here is the helmet now after tidying up the paint, adding the decals, fitting the mic tips and hot glued in some mesh for the frown. I wanted to try using decals first to what they were like before considering painting... The tube stripes look clean and are about the width of a pencil away from the cheek. For the other decals I used a soapy water mix to apply them, they went on OK except the tear decals were tricky, it was hard to avoid creases as you are applying a flat sticker to a curved surface.. The ears all painted up It seems to me that most people tend to paint the black outline first and then add the grey... I had to be different and did the grey first then the black pin stripe. I think it turned out fairly neat... I decided to attach my lenses to the ear bolts and after wearing the helmet a few times I noticed the edge would sit on my nose, so to make it more comfortable I added some U-shape rubber For padding I picked up some tactical helmet padding off ebay. The padding is held in using velco spots that came with it, so they can easily be removed for washing. OK, so the bucket didn't quite get finished on the weekend, 99% done - just have to paint the ear bolts white and put everything back together.
-
After getting side track by my E11 build, I'm setting myself a goal to have the helmet done by the end of this week. I still need to thin down the ears... but decided to get some paint on first for motivation Gave the bucket a clean and polish before paint - nice and shiny! Here is what I have done so far... I had the frown all masked up at first but decided to do it freehand as I've seen in other threads paint leaking under the tape. I'll have to clean up the edging on the corners with the old toothpick trick once dry.

Cheers guys, not too late to fix I thought it was a little wide, will trim down.

A little more blaster building today.... The doopys inner bolt is positioned too high, so I plan to fix that with a piece of plastic A bit of grinding and sanding to remove it Cut the replacement to size. I haven't glued it yet - what do you think of size/positioning?
-
Used a bench clamp to make the bend and a dremel with a cutoff disc to make the cuts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
You have a good eye Tino! The first pic has the small screw but the screw I used was the larger one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
A bit of work on the magazine receiver, replaced the grub screw Then had to thin the walls to fit the replacement magazine and cut the magazine down to size Put a real screw on the counter On to the scope now, more screws to replace here Grind off the resin screws and replace with real ones. The larger screws are actually plastic but will be painted later! What good is a scope without a rail? Whipped up a rail using Billhag's template Also decided to use a screw to hold in the back end Test fit - what do you think? Is this rail alright or off the rails? That's enough for now... stay tuned troops
-
Thanks for the feedback Tino. I'll look at grinding it down a little more. Your parts set and build thread is what speeds things up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

OK, so a bit more progress... a few more pics! Another popular mod - drilled out the blobs at the end of the barrel and replaced with hexagon screws Moving down to the other end we have our end cap. Two things regarding the end cap... Replace the metal ring with a more accurate one Also my end cap was really loose as the square locks were too thin, so I decided to cut some small squares of ABS plastic and super glue them into the cap. Locks in much better now! Even though these will be mostly hidden by the folding stock I decided to drill out the holes on the barrel... was just in the moment Speaking of the folding stock, I cleaned this up a bit Then I drilled out the holes on the bottom side and cut out an inlay to fit a metal bar

Thanks guys. Test fit of the trigger guard, what do you think? Thanks again Ian for the reminder!
-
My plan was to modify the doopys cylinders in a similar fashion to T-Jays build.. Thanks Ian, I didn't think of checking the trigger guard, will do that
-
I decided to start modifying the handle first by replacing the free/lock screw with a real screw that can be rotated. Cut the screw down to size, grind off the resin screw and mark where to drill a hole Done! Simple and effective! Next was the screw at the bottom of the handle Drilled this out and replaced with a hexagon screw Moving onto the trigger, using a small nail and spring we can make this a functioning trigger Here is the final result Squeezing the trigger Lastly for the handle... make the selector switch rotatable using a nail More tomorrow....

This is yet another build thread for the Doopydoos resin kit but my first go at building an E11. For this build I will be making a few popular modifications so I'm interested in your feedback and suggestions Instead of starting with the traditional brown box starting pic, I'll just skip straight to the good stuff! Here's what you get in a doopys full resin kit... The DD magazine leaves a lot to be desired, so I grabbed a replacement off gazmosis - Thanks Steve! To save a bunch of time trying to find all the right pieces for my modifications I grabbed an E11 completion set off T-Jay - Thanks Tino! Also a local Garrison member hooked me up with a nice reticule finishing piece for the scope - Thanks Tim! OK... so with most things gathered its time to start building!

The past several weeks has been crazy for me... one crisis after another... so I haven't made much progress. But today I thought I would get back on track and what better way then to attack the bucket! Faceplate trimmed with eyes and frown Test fitting with clamps... I must have done this two dozen times! Couldn't decide if I wanted a raised eyebrow or not I eventually settled on a lowered eyebrow, I think this looks more angry... just like my face when I had a go at the ears! What do people think? Do the ears look a little big? Should make them thinner or leave as is?
