  1. Before you actually rivet the helmet together you might want to test the placement using bolts and washers. I had to take one of the rivets out of my helmet and it was a pain!
  2. If your build turns out to be anything like mine, be prepared to buy twice as many snaps as you think you'll need.
  3. Thanks Todd! I can't wait until next weekend. It looks like we should have a great turnout.
  4. Kyle Fisher 26113 EIB Letter Thank you!
  5. Thank you all for the encouragement and tips. You all have been so helpful during this build and I'm proud to be a part of the FISD!
  6. I'm not sure if you are aware, but to stop the sides of the kidney piece from flaring out like yours is doing, you can add some plastic strips or tabs on the inside of the kidney plate. There are many way to do it. Below is how I did mine. Just make sure to paint the outside of them black in case your seem is not perfect and the tabs show through on the front side.
  7. Mine is my kids birth dates. Sept 26, Jan 11, and Jan 3.
  8. Well I tried to touch up the rear traps a bit and added the photos above. I think it looks a little better but I'm afraid I'm not a very good artist. I also have the tabs painted black and will glue them back in tonight. I'll upload photos tomorrow night.
  9. I like the idea of painting the tabs black. I'll make that mod this week. I'm also planning on redoing the welds but I want to trim some of the shims first because I think they are a little too wide. That's on my tier two list of changes. I guess that's why I've been told I'll probably always be tweeking my armor.
  10. Thanks for the feedback! That chest piece has been the bane of my existence. My torso is really long so it's difficult to get it to stay down. I'm going to try and use nylon straps stead of elastic to see if that makes a difference. I'm also going to try and move the strap connection points more to the side and maybe even add a third connection point in the middle If none of that works then I might need to cut the cod. I just really don't want to go down that road. The other strap your referring to is indeed the thigh garter. It just wasn't tucked in enough. I can retake that photo if necessary.

  12. I would also suggest you stay away from the Zap. I only used it on my gloves because I wanted the hand plates to dry quickly. Everything else was strictly E6000 and in fact, I used three tubes of the stuff to complete my build.
  13. Good luck with the build and don't be shy about asking questions!
  14. Requesting 501st access please. So happy to join the Legion! http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=19100
  15. I just got the email from the legion. I'm in the database! TK26113 Thank you to everyone offering support and guidance on this build thread. I'd also like to give a HUGE thank you specifically to Tony (ukswrath) for being such a great help and inspiration!
  16. Yes sir...just waiting for my DLT-19 to come in. I think I'm close to EIB already since I've been building towards centurion. How long should I wait to apply once I'm officially in the Legion?
  17. Depending on which type of strapping system you use, be prepared to buy a lot of snaps!
  18. I just got the email from my GML. I'm approved!!!
  19. Take your time and do it right. I probably could have finished mine a lot faster but when I felt myself wanting to take a shortcut I'd try and remember that the journey is a big part of the fun.
  20. Thanks Jason! It's hard not to nit pick when you can see every little mistake that most others probably don't even recognize. Overall, I am really proud of this build! I still can't believe I did it. I am the least "handy" person you might find. Every home improvement project I try is a mess so I was worried about this one from the beginning. ...and Tony can bust my chops all day long! He's a big reason I haven't gone insane
  21. The TD has been fixed as well. Those screws are black but they come out lighter on the photo due to the sun.
  22. Thanks guys! I did a little more trimming this morning and officially submitted my photos to the GML. Wish me luck!
