Bunching up in a sewing machine is almost 100% due to the tension being incorrect. Find a scrap piece and play around with the tension dial until the bunching stops. -

If you do a Google search for TFA Stormtrooper build you will get right to them. They're also still accessible to the general public, which is why they were being worked on. Just FYI.

If you don't want to risk the heat gun you can dip them in hot water and re-form them that way. Worked like a charm on mine.
